“Donna Jo” is a 11 week old Do Si Dos photo that had I slow start outta the seed throughout her germination by a couple days. She continued to be the slowest growing photo as her first few leaves stayed smaller then her neighbors in the tent. Took awhile to get started but she is now doing very well as she continues to shoot new branches and nodes.
Wanted to grow this strain because of the High THC % expected. Can’t seem to find many does and don’t tips online specific to this strain. From what I have read though leads me to believe that if all goes well I shouldn’t expect big, dense flowers or a full plant however the flowers it does produce should have the couch lock effect I’m looking for later on at night on the weekends after I’ve been smoking other strains during the day.
Just like my other Journals for Granddaddy Purple, Cherry Pie X Gorilla Glue and Strawberry Cough she is going to stay in veg for another month or so befor getting to flower.
This week Donna Jo here had her bamboo “basket” added and she was stretched out to allow more light lower.
While tying her up I went a little to aggressive and split her main stock down the middle 💩🙁💩!! Wrapped coated wire around where it happened with fingers crossed she would glue herself back together. Haven’t seen any negative signs resulting from this mistake Yet. Fingers are still crossed.
Donna Jo was fimmed at start of the week to allow lower growth more light and to slow down the growth at the top. Tops are being bent around top bar of basket to spread out as evenly as I can in preparation for the green screens to come. Don’t plan to set up green screen until she has her space in the tent. That looks like a few weeks away still.
As we get closer and closer to flipping the light schedule to 12/12 Donna Jo seems to be happy and healthy. As lower branches join the canopy height and top growth gets slowed/pinned down I look forward to seeing how many flowers she will be able to produce!
The start of this week Donna Jo’s tent space was freed up for her to start flowering now. She spent 2 days in blackout befor being feed transitioning to flowering nutrients. The day after her blackout I noticed her first pistil appearing. Last feeding was watered with Cal-Mag and ph’d 6.2
Numbers in pictures:
AG = above ground
FD = flowering day
Donna Jo this week has put on 4” in vertical growth and filled in nicely across he green screened canopy.
No deficiencies to talk about as she seems to be very happy and healthy.
For the most part Donna Jo has mirrored what she did last week. She has put on another 2” in height. Each of top branches are now showing very obvious flower sites as they have at the very least doubled, almost tripled in size. Seems to be happy and healthy as she continues to be fed 2 litres of green planets 3 part nutrients. Fed full strength nutes Friday’s and Tuesday’s with Sunday being ph’d Cali-magic. This leaves Thursday’s as a judgement call on moisture level. If plant is to dry I’ll give her a single litre of ph’d water to make it to the next days nutrients but I try not to water Thursday’s to stress em out a little.
Donna Jo the Do Si Dos only grew an inch in height this week. Leading one to believe the big stretch is coming to an end. Time to put more focus on producing bigger and more dense flower spots.
Outta the 4 different plants/strain in the flowering tent right now this one is currently the exciting one. Each day that passes the flowers get bigger, can see the calyx now, but the excitement comes with the sugar leaves packing on that crystal! 👌🏻
Donna Jo is still being watered;
-Tuesday with full gp3 (green plant 3 part) plus Cali mag by General hydro PhD to 6.2 roughly 2 litres
- Thursday get PhD Cali mag water and
Only 1 litre at most. Try not to water Thursday unless she is to dry to make it to Friday
-Friday full gp3/ Cali mag PhD 2-3 litres
-Sunday full gp3/Cali mag PhD 2-3 litre
-Monday/Wednesday/Saturday no water.
This week had a pretty major change not just in flower production, but also decided to change tent set up as well. Changes to the tent included ditching the 600w led and the 2x 2000w garbage led lights (i call bs on manufacturer saying they are 2k) These 3 lights are now out and we have stepped up to cmh 315w. Should have bought this cmh 315 right off the hop and not spent the money on led. Now going to cmh the tent run way hotter and has required other upgrades to keep from overheating. The duct system was dual t4 cloudlines running one in and one out off the same control module has now been changed to a T6 cloudline exhausting with a t4 feeding cool/fresh air. Tent jumped 9 degrees with cmh 315 so had to also add the overheat back up plan. Put a 6” inline duct (can fan pushing extra 200 cfm) along the exhaust line closer to window exhaust point which is plugged into an ink bird plug and play thermostat set to 82. This just helps the T6 do a better job with less noise.
With these changes I feel way more confident of yielding a higher gram/plant ratio. I believe if you look at last weeks pictures and compare to this weeks you will probably agree with me.
You decide .......😀
Flowering week 6 down and Donna Jo here had a pretty good week visually. 30% red hairs now with roughly 80% milky and as of the last day of this week she has started showing first signs of ambering, and Her sugar leaves are covered in crystals which makes it very hard not to want to flush her. Right now I’m thinking she has another week or two of nutes befor her flush and blackout befor harvest.
Final weeks are here! The up coming week will be her last feeding with nutes. Florakleen will come next followed by ph’d water and possibly a day or two of blackout befor harvesting.
Dry weight of 2 oz which is double what I’ve averaged to this point. I put it at 30+ percent thc level. Great way to finish a day smoking your own Do Si Dos.
Absolutely fantastic looking harvest man. I looked for a journal EXACTLY like this because I'm going to start propagating 2 Do Si Do's and 2 Blue Cookies right away here. The reason I care so much is because I received my genetics through i49 too! I love their genetics so far and am very happy but don't know anyone else that uses this bank, so I'm very happy to find you and see what the Do Si Do should grow to be and look like.
The bud looks absolutely fantastic and the only question I have, if you tested, was if the advertised THC % matched the outcome of your crop...? Also, if you have any tips or problems you think I should know about, and have the time, please drop me a line so I can give these ladies the best grow time I can.
Thanks dude, and congrats again!
@DD_420, I noticed that too. That's why I found it hard to trust an advertised 29% when I couldn't find breeder info to prove it. haha. But here we are, friggin 31%.
And thanks for offering your ear and advice my friend, I will certainly use it if/when I have an issue (most certainly when, not if, hahaha)
Cheers👍
@JinksyGrows, I found it harder to find information specific to this strain myself. During the course of your upcoming cycle feel free to ask any questions you may stumble across. Gladly help if I can bud.
@DD_420, Thanks for responding, I appreciate it🙂. And 31% eh, holy jesus. I feel validated in picking this strain up, now.
And thanks! Thinking the grow will start around Nov. 10th. Stay tuned and thanks for the well wishes. Cheers.👍
Great looking harvest! I know this is an old grow but I also am just searching for good, comprehensive info on this strain, I'm getting close to harvest and checking out some other grows for any tips or helpful info, and reading this diary has been great so I just wanted to say thanks!
