Nutrient cycle started and added some beneficial bacteria, the reservoir seems to be running a bit hot, Need a way to keep it cool, working on that.
-I see some yellow coming in on the tips of one set of leaves... some kind of nutrient issue i am sure, investigating? Will keep monitoring, nutrients were done at 1/4 strength, unless it was the voodoo juice... which I never really looked into if that should be lower too.
-ph was up high which might have caused the yellow? Adjusted and double checked levels, down to 5.9 now. Also recalibrated ph meter just to make sure. See if that resolves the yellow leaves.
-Yellowing hasn't gotten worse... I think the issue was PH related.. it registered higher than when I added the nutrients, I seem to be adjusting the PH almost daily. Will keep monitoring!
-PH Seems to have stabilized and looking good to my untrained eye, seems to be hitting her growth phase every time I check it looks bigger!
Been avoiding taking photos as i have ran into a little bit of an issue, but gotta take the good and the bad.
All was going well, switched out the water/nutes and re-ph'd everything seemed fine. I saw a guide online that someone used aluminum tape, to "reflect" heat to keep their reservoirs cooler. I tried this, horrible, it jumped my res tank up like 5 degrees celcius, I have since taken the tape off and it looks like it might be bouncing back a little, roots are doing awesome though for what it's worth.
Keeping a close eye on it and the PH levels.
-Well had to go away over the weekend for a couple days, I think some nutrient burn or ph issues kicked in, although the PH was only 6.2 when I checked it... The temp seems to have normalized a bit. Did a little trimming of the crunchy leaves and added a bunch of plain Ph'd water which put the tank to 5.6 and I'll just have to keep an eye on the leaves. :( Sad thing to come home to.
-Well, turns out my pH pen was WAY off on the readings, it was saying the pH was way higher than it was, so went back to the drops, looks to have bounced back a bit already! Here's hoping.
-Final post for this week, here's what i've learned... pH pen from amazon, sucks - switched back to the drops, not an exact science using colors but it worked better than the pen already. After getting the pH back up to between 5.5-6ish the plant bounced back fast! have some fancy gold looking burn marks, but c'est la vie.
This week I installed a carbon filter, have the fan inside the tent just above the grow light, and the hose running outside, the carbon filter isn't on yet as there's no smell anyways was mostly just using it for circulation at this point. I have the bottom vents all open so the air should circulate from the bottom up through to the top hitting the plant as it goes but also seems to be reducing the temp in the bucket. There was a clip-on fan sitting on the floor blowing air around as it came in through the vents, but I've since moved this up to the top, the plant seems to like it a little more direct on it.
Next water change I will be trying the same nutrient levels as this last one less the voodoo juice, as well it's time to start training! it's up to 5 nodes already, super short plant so far.
-New week, i've noticed this plant doesn't like cold, if it gets to about 20C it starts to droop. there's no wiggle room with this thing. Planning to do a water change in 2-3 days, will be keeping the nutrients at .5 level for this change and keep a close eye on the pH. Going to set up some ties for training next too.
-Training has begun, going to try to do this one without much cutting, no topping, just bend it all see how she goes.
-Super cropped the top, see if we can't get the other nodes to activate more without topping. Sex is confirmed as well! Woo we-ad-a-baby-itsa-girl.
-Swapped nutrients and don't have to go out of town right after so hoping i can keep a better eye on the pH level.
been slacking on the posts this last bit. Here's an update
-Changed the water on the 21st last week, the pH has been a constant issue. stuck with the .5tsp/gal measurement on the nutrients for this week.
-Was getting some spotting on the leaves due to pH levels again after, would adjust and it'd droop, still struggling to balance after the change.
-pH seems to have balanced out now and it looks great! I think we're hitting flowering stage here soon if not already. Looking healthy lots of new growth and she's sucking back that water fast!
-planning to do another water change next week... struggle through that one again i'm sure... :D
-Aug 29, Well i think can officially call this flowering stage, Looking healthy, growing bunches.
Did some defoliation yesterday, changing the water here in 3-4 days!
-Aug 30 little more defoliation and some LST.
-Sept 2 Water swap is complete, so far so good. Did some more light defoliation and keeping as close of an eye as I can on the pH levels, some more LST as well to try and spread things out. The res temp is stabilized at a reasonable level so made the executive decision to use slightly less voodoo juice than recommended.
-Sept 4, well the water swap went much better this time round no nutrient issues! Further defoliation/LST performed throughout week
-Sept 6, New week, More LST & Defoliation, last grow I didn't really trim anything so trimming a lot more and seeing what the results come out like. Otherwise not much else to update on this so far this week!
-Sept 7, topped up the water with some plain water and adjusted the pH, she's drinking like crazy now can't just wait for changes anymore.
-Sept 8, still going Constant LST to try and keep it in my undersized tent and while doing that keeping the defoliation going too.
-Sept 10 No real comments, just closing out the week, crystals coming in on sugar leaves and surrounding, time for another water change here soon!
-Sept 12 Getting new week in, will update more later tonight!
-Sept 17, been slacking on the posts this week! More next week but did a water change tonight, all seems well, have some LST going and some trimming as well! Baby is looking good.
-Sept 18, More defoliation and the Water change went well, I think I have this under control, keep the pH and it's amazing what happens.... call it learning curves :D
Pistils on main stem are starting to turn orange, good signs! I am excited to see how she shapes up in the final weeks.
-Sept 22 - Plant is thirsty! I think I will be changing my water schedule from 10 days down to 7. Every week do a new batch of water, right now I have been changing it every 10 and refilling with plain water top up.
-Sept 25 - Things are going around, doing some minor trimmings... stopped trying to train the branches as I read that it's past that point now! So no longer doing that, changing water out here on the 27th.
-Sept 27, New water change! Not much else to comment on right now... just keeping an eye on the pH, and trying to figure out when to switch to the late bloom part of nutrient schedule... Probably start cutting back the nutrients in the next couple water changes.
-Oct 1, nothing major, couple new pictures :D biggest bud I've grown before is up there for sure! Pretty excited with how it's going beats my first grow which was in dirt, hands down. Amazing what you can do with a little knowledge and some nutrients!
-Oct 3, I have hit the point where this tent just doesn't have enough space. going to upgrade to a 3'x3' tent, this one is 3'x20" and she's hitting the walls. new week started on the 2nd, will start new week tonight!
-Oct 7, well been pushing back changing the water so the reservoir is easier to move when the new tent gets back, hopefully that doesn't mess anything up, saw some slight burning on the leaf tips it looks like. Have been monitoring however and seems to have stopped. Have some colors coming in on some of the sugar leaves too, looks like they're going darker :D New tent should be in today! excited.
Oct-8, The new tent is in place, little larger than anticipated and took all night to setup, move 3 times and re-setup. Water change tonight!
-Oct 9, did a water change last night. cutting back the nutrients some more per the schedule from growweedeasy.com for the flora trio. pH was a little high this morning so managed that and all looks well, some purples coming in on the leaves. Getting impatient at this point, but excited!
-Oct 13, Have some purples coming in more, "fall colors" coming in etc, also had some tip burning happen, not sure what specifically... but the burning seems to have stopped after watering down the doses a bit with some plain water.
-Oct 15, another water change down, further dropping down nutrients.... Not sure when to call it complete, trichomes are a little ambery... give it 2 more weeks as they say.
Catching up on weeks, went out of town last week so didn't get to post! No nutrients as I started the flushing cycle.
Went a little long on flushing honestly but she took it fine :D
Had to train up the wife to check pH as well as I was out of town, so it was an interesting week.
Taste & feel will come - Got a chance to test it out, no negative effects personally, says dry mouth to make the profile green, but I didn't notice any negative effects.
Overall this plant reacted well to my environment i'd say, I think a more seasoned grower could have done more as this was my first time in hydro I had my own set of challenges, but I enjoyed myself. Will have way more bud then I need personally so looking forward to sharing the wealth :)
I waited slightly too long to start trimming... the stems and leaves became squishy and a pain to deal with the buds that I trimmed sooner after harvesting were WAY easier so will be sticking to that next time.
So far wet weight is 147g on stem,
It was nice having other growers able to chime in and help with comments when things weren't going well, the only thing I wish was available was an app so posting didn't all have to be done online through browser. Will stick with GD going forward though, was a convenient way to share the grow!.
