I've never grown before, nor really had a lot of knowledge or interest in it. When I received this plant I started to look into things - first from a bit of an anxious perspective, in that I have neighbors with kids, and despite it being legal, the stigma remains. It's been quite an experience so far and looking forward to continuing it. Always happy to receive advice and guidance but I truly am enjoying the experiment so if the only comment you have is to tell me how I'm doing it wrong, please move along. I absolutely want a good harvest but it's the joy of the learning experience this time around. Love to all, thanks for your diaries, I have turned to many for useful and informative advice. :D

I started to research LST. While growing is legal, I have close neighbors and would like to minimize the height of the plant. Learned after reading about topping and fimming that it's easier to apply LST following topping than following fimming. I was not deterred! Saw a few other blogs where people started to do a bit of a bonsai, so I tried that.

July 9 was the day that I really kinda pushed my comfort level and started to defoliate a bit more. I was nervous, and her growth stalled a little bit but then she exploded July 13, and I tied her down some more.

I haven't really seen anything go 'wrong', per se. I am definitely doing these things to try and increase potential yield (and keep the canopy low and even) but to be honest before I got Ginny, I hadn't realized the size of harvests, or how fun they are to grow. I've really been enjoying taking the time to sit out in the sun in the morning with a j and listen to some classical music and tie her down some more. SUPER relaxing.😀

Generally just enjoying watching her even out. Gilly (water clone) is not really doing anything, but I've come to understand water can take longer to grow roots. Changing water out every other day. Luna (soil clone) was looking pretty good, though I forgot her makeshift humidity dome yesterday and she was good and drooped this morning. Watered and put her outside in her pot in hope the fresh air and sun will make her pop again. Fairly certain she's started to root. More LST on Saturday.

I think I'm getting pretty close to flowering but I am a newb so it's hard to tell. She's filling out nicely, and there's all these cute little offshoots popping up off the 'main' stems. I'll post another closer look of the shape she's taking underneath shortly. My soil clone didn't make it, and my water clone seemed to be stalling so I potted her with teeny tiny roots showing. I'm not overly hopeful though. I took two more branches from lower on Ginny, that were clearly not getting a lot of sun, and have dropped them in a better water container. So we'll see. All in the name of experimentation, right? :)

What would be the most efficient light for a single plant indoor grow? My hope is to have one plant sustained through winter months and outdoor grow each summer. I've been to a number of sites and advice varies, so I thought I'd ask here as well. Thanks in advance.

I’ve used as little as two- 60watt CFL’s and have seen flowers start to form. I’ve also played with the “grow” LED lights from the local big box store. I’ve had good luck with those too. It’s easy to grow a small plant, but don’t expect a huge harvest, but you could definitely have some enjoyable bud. Kind of a quality over quantity deal. Happy growing.

I picked up some tiger bloom but understand I should wait until the stretching stage passes. She seems to have grown a fair bit since the defoliation/lst I did on the 15th. Will wait until at least next week to start.

Grow Big - Fox Farm
Grow Big 2 mll
This last week went really well, I think. I finally ordered some nutrients and have been giving small amounts of fox farm grow big every other watering. I read somewhere that it is good to continue to feed vegetative nutes through the stretching phase. The last few days have really started to show a little more bud development (though I've had company and have not been able to get many shots until today). I'm thinking it might be time to switch to Tiger Bloom, would welcome any agreement or disagreement with that decision. But I don't feel as though she's grown much in the last couple of days despite optimal temperatures and humidity. I'm also considering one final defoliation/lst but if I do it, it will be on the morning of the 27th. I'm also debating just letting her be from here on out. Stay tuned, I suppose ;)

So I did the one final defoliation on August 27, and I do believe I overdid it some, but live and learn, right? She seems to still be thriving and I'm seeing more pistils and start of bud development. I know she's a couple weeks behind another buddy's outdoor grow. But there is a LOT of new growth, so I'm hopeful it will still produce a nice yield. I have also switched to Tiger Blooms now. I also realized I never noted temperatures so I will say I'm a little south of Ottawa, Canada and she is outdoors in full sun at least 6 hours a day.

Could I move an outdoor plant into a garage if temps drop significantly outside? I understand bugs are a concern moving an outdoor plant inside, but wondered if a garage with lighting would be a viable option (and anything else I should consider if I move her)

You most certainly can. The only real concern when bringing plants inside, is when you decide to place them in your tent with your indoor plants. I myself plan on bringing my plants into the pool room to wait out the cold nights, once they get here.

Well, as one person here (and others rl) noted, I probably defoliated too much on Week 11. Suspect I forced her to veg a little more, but she's been exploding with new growth all over and stretching nicely again these last couple of days. This morning I came out and looked at her and I definitely see much more budding activity happening. It's super exciting to watch. The temps have been in the teens (celcius) and low 20s all week with more rain.

Last week I untied her and have pretty much just sat back. Outside temps were falling awful close to freezing at night so I've picked up a tent to finish her off if needed. But weather the last few days has been in 20s (celcius) and sunny, with more to come. So I'm leaving her outside for now.

Everything went well this week, the buds were definitely developing but I do think that last LST I did was too late. She's definitely a little behind. Temps are starting to cool at night and I'm thinking by end of the week I will need to move her into the garage/tent.

Still just sitting back and watching. I'm moving her into a tent in the garage for nights that call for frost and back out during the day.

Almost the whole week in the tent. I did notice when I placed her that she filled my 2x3 tent as if I'd grown her for that purpose in the first place. So pretty.

This has been a thrilling experience ... but I think I did stunt her with the last trim. I've spoken to a few people who think I should cut her soon. Would love any thoughts/feedback on potentially cutting her on Friday this week.

I'm happy with my first attempt at growing and appreciate the feedback I got from people through the process. Thank you. I did probably defoliate a bit too much at the beginning of the flowering phase and probably stunted things, but while the buds are small, they are plentiful. I will continue to update with info as I get it... unfortunately no wet weight though.
