First attempt so all bagged seed used.
9/10 unknowns germinated
2/2 garlicane germinated
Planted in 3” jiffy pots w/ happy frog soil.
4 days - All plants various heights
9/9 potted unknowns broke soil
2/2 potted garlicane broke soil, one way behind only about 5-10mm height.
Going to move into a tent soon so environment can be controlled better.
7 days - So far looking good. Started adding nutrients day 6.
8 days - plants were getting cool at night so turned on heat pad. Was busy working and the humidity got too high before I caught it. Mould appeared on the surface of the pots so I transplant them to new pots immediately. Hopefully they don’t get stressed.
14 days - moved into 2x4 tent a few days ago and they are doing well. Keeping temps consistent 75-80 and moisture 50%. Will be moving into 3 gal final pots soon.
17 days - Moved all the plants to final 3 gal fabric pots. I was having issues with mold on the jiffy cups. They are in a mixture of 30% perlite 70% fox farm soil. Looking good right now. I originally planned to only keep 3-4 plants but I may keep more if I’m lucky.
21 days - Everything still looking good. They are growing their 4 & 5 nodes now. Only watering every few days right now still with light nutrients.
27 days - Still moving along. Growth may have been stunted a little as I think I was under watering. Right now it’s every 2-3 days. I just watered today and increased the nutrients to 2ml/litre. These are pushing out there fifth and sixth nodes. If you include the first set of single leaves, not really sure what is correct. Also thinking of topping the fifth node, any advice weather I should or not being my first grow?
31 days (25 veg) - determined that I am at around 25 days veg if based off of when the first single set of leaves showed. 31 days since the germinated seeds were put in soil.
Things seem to be really moving now, I think all the plants are Indica as the leaves appear short, wide and a deeper darker shade of green. I don’t have a clue what strain these are because they were just random seeds saved from bud I bought.
I topped 4 of the 9 plants today. The 6th nodes. I will do the others over the next couple days as they grow out more. I guess this is not advised on your first grow, but I couldn’t help myself. They are looking healthy and it’s above the 5th node, I think they’ll be fine. My plan is to give them another couple weeks in veg then switch them over to flower.
33 days (27 veg) - topped the rest of the plants as their 6 node was grown out enough. The first topped ones from a couple days ago seem to be doing good and definitely a noticeable difference with new leaves appearing on each node. Gave them all a water, eased up a little on the amount.
44 Days (38 veg) - Seems like they are filling out a lot more. Using AN PH Perfect is keeping the water ph down to consistent 6.3-6.4. Soil ph is around 6.9-7.0, I am considering using some ph down to try and get the soil to 6.3-6.5. I added an oscillating fan from Vivosun that clips onto the tent poles, works excellent. I am still only using a couple of T5 sun blaster lights but moved them closer. I think the lighting has not been close enough and slowed downed the growth. I am going with a new mars hydro SP250 in the next few days and I think I will be switching over to flower. I wanted to give them a full 2 weeks after topping. Not knowing what I was doing, the plants have reacted to the topping very well, glad I did it.
Day 4 Flowering
New SP250 light in for about 5 days and very noticeable gains. Wish I would have gotten the light in earlier. I was only using x2 -4ft sunblaster T5, not enough light.
Started using RO water and it is getting the ph of the water with nutes down to about 5.9, the soil is measuring about 7 after feeding.
Switching to 12/12 I am having to close the tent and it is getting the moisture way too high when lights off. I installed a dehumidifier and it works but I don’t think it’s keeping up so I guess the next add will be a ventilation system before the humidity causes an issue.
I am starting to see some changes and I believe their are a few females already and they happen to be the best plants. I am hoping sooner than later so a couple can be culled to free up some space, I plan on keeping up to 8.
Day 5 Flowering - showing signs of sex. 3 of 9 were males and I tossed them. One more I think maybe a male, I will give it a day or 2 to see for-sure.
15 Days Flowering- Down to 6 plants in the tent 5 unknowns and the one garlicane ended up being a female. Recently added a ventilation system with a carbon filter and fan by ac infinity with the temp and humidity controller. All the plants look really heathy and getting some nice little buds on them so far.
17 Days Flowering - still stretching a lot, tallest is up to 26”. Thats an inch a day.
Day 67 - 25 Flowering
Still stretching and flowers getting bigger, now up to 28”. The leaves are starting to show some crystals and looking pretty good so far. I had to leave them for a few days and worried about water because they need it every 2 days. I decided to get some wick rope and 2 litres of solution for 3 plants each. I have them a water before leaving and left them with the wicks. 3 days later the plants haven’t looked better and not dry. About 3/4 solution was gone from each jug, though I believe some loss to evaporation. Added a corner shelf in the tent which turned out to fit perfectly. I wanted to have a shelf for a heater in the winter and a humidifier and air conditioner if needed in the future. Also added a temperature controller for the heater which has wifi so I can control and read the temp on an app. Next thing I would like to do is make a box with louvers for the air intake of the tent. I would like to keep the flap open during the 12 off and not worry about light leaks.
Bud and resin production continuing. Actually surprised at how much crystals are showing already. Some pistols are starting to turn brown. Just keeping regular watering every second day and temps/humidity dialed in.
Stretching has completely stopped and noticed increased bud size and resin production. Started to see the tips of the leaves yellowing and drying up. Also seen leaves on one plant starting to yellow and some brown spots. Not sure if it’s normal in this phase or too much nitrogen. Stopped using nutes just in case as there are only a couple weeks left, we’ll see over the next week if it helps.
Buds just keep getting bigger with lots of resin. Just watering with straight water. It appears each plant is a different strain. They all have a distinct smell and appearance, too bad I don’t know what they are. Trichomes are turning cloudy. I noticed on a couple plants the trichomes are amber on the the leaves only, not really on any of the flowers. I’ve decided to leave them as I think it’s still too early.
The fruity smelling plant has a lot of purple in the bud and some trichomes have turn to a pink/purplish colour.
Day 58 - Buds just keep getting bigger with lots of resin. Just watering with straight water. Some of the leaves are turning colour from the lack of nutrients. Watching the trichomes everyday to watch for any amber. Most of the pistals have turned red so should be ready to chop any day now.
Day 62 - Trichomes still cloudy and not much really turning amber, we’ll see here over the next few days.
