Fast buds Blackberry Kush is a very appealing strain which was fairly easy to grow. I loved the shorter green phenotype which eventually turned purple on the outside of the buds with a greener inner bud color. The plant structure was ideal for my grow set up and was able to hit her hard with nice light intensity during bloom with no issues. The bud structure had a nice dense high calyx to sugar leave ratio and was heavily covered in trichomes just the way I like it. She handled nutrients like a champ no signs of nutrient burn. The other two phenotype were a lot taller and stretched with a longer inter node distance. The plants held the branches up well for most of the grow but I was concerned that the weight of the buds would break some stems during the ripening stage. The stems of these two were a bit on the hollow side in my opinion with thinner wall structure when compared to the green phenotype. I feel these two may have benefited from a higher dose of calcium during the course of growing. The bud coloration was outstanding with a nice purple to dark violet shades. The bud structure was a bit looser on one plant and the other was fairly dense with calyx but not as dense as the green phenotype. This one plant seemed to do a bit of fox tailing in the end of bloom even after cutting back on the amount of red spectrum light. The very tall and dominant main colas were swung to the outside edges of the tent because they were too close to my light which was maxed out in height. The lower buds received more light than the upper cola but lacked heavy trichome coverage. I believe these two plants possibly would have benefited from being topped or fimmed then heavy LST training to create a more even canopy to maximize light intensity to the bud sites produce a heavier denser trichome coverage. Harvesting was done on day 72 and was easy on the taller 2 which had less leaf coverage, the green phenotype took a bit longer she had a lot more fan and sugar leaves to remove. I had about a 15 to 20% amber to mostly cloudy /milky with some clear trichomes on the main cola when they were chopped. It was very difficult to see/judge color because of the darker color of the buds. Photos of the trichomes don't do the plant justice by any means. The smoke was fairly smooth with a slightly sweet ,a bit earthy with a nice light floral finish which is hard to real put my finger on to describe. It gave me a nice relaxed head and entire body type of high which was very pleasant and enjoyable not at all over powering definately a good evening time smoke to put your mind to rest. Definitely have some good munchies on hand for this one. I'll admit this wasn't my best grow but I was able to get some nice colorful buds out of them. I have a few more seeds left and would like to grow this strain again at some point hopefully trying a few different training techniques on them, definately hit them harder with some calcium and push them to their limits.😉

@SirDillton, I'm running 2 exhale bags a great product in my 2ft x 4ft tent. One bag is about 2 months old.The other 7-8 months old and is near the end of its life I will be replacing it soon. With the lights on and my exhaust fan on low it will hit in the 1000 ppm range after a few hours. Lights off it will drop down to about 600 ppm which is fine they aren't using it anyways.

I’ve always wanted a meter to read my tents Co2 ppm to see if my exhale Co2 bag raises it above regular atmospheric levels.... @Philindicus,

@Soskar69, Over watering is the biggest issue when they're young until the plants have a large enough root system to use all the water usually during the first 1-3 weeks of an auto life. By week 4 the root system has reached the bottom. I had been using Air pots for my past 3 grows. The biggest issue was Fungus gnats attacking literally from every opening. So last grow I wound up wrapping the air pots with plastic wrap which kind of defeats the purpose of using air pots. Interestingly I still had a good harvest and an abundant root system this grow I'm using maxi pots for my current grow. I'm beginning to think the smart pot/air pot craze is a bunch of hype. My soil mix has evolved since my first grow. If you mix your soil so it's faster draining by adding coco coir and extra perlite there is plenty of air space/oxygen for roots to breath less chance of over watering. The concept of air pots/smart pots is to air prune the roots to force them to grow smaller feeder roots and to prevent the roots from circling the pots. I tried them and was not impressed by them growers have been using traditional pots for ever with excellent results just as good as the air pot craze. Just my opinion.

heya buddy….happy to see your new diaries ! wtf with TMV...i got that 2 years ago but i was thinking it was caused by overfeeding my red auto...now i know 👍 what a plan !! i am trying now pro bloom (amino acids ) by GHE/Terra acquatica on the purple haze to try to maximize the buds production but for the moment it s stay far from minerals….next time i will try a mix of your way and mine by alternating organics and minerals ! i will follow your work with pleasure….👌 ps do you have the exact composition of the fungals strain in the white shark ?
Philindicus

@Budofpray, I'll read your research. I think just trying to find products that actually contain viable spores and microbes is just one part of the issue. I try to buy during the cool season so they dont cook in the back of a delivery truck. Like you mentioned I don't know how many of these species are actually beneficial for cannabis. Seems to be very limited research for cannabis/hemps association with beneficial microbes. Seems like phosphorus levels over 10ppm in the soil have a definite effect on hindering mycos. Most of the products seem to be geared for a wide variety of plant species.Considering the short life span of auto flowers I wonder if ecto have enough time to truly establish them selves or if endo may be the way to go. The other issue is doing experiments growing cuttings would be a better comparison than issue of phenotype differences of seed growing.

@Philindicus, thx dude for the answer 👊 seems very equilibrate and complete but OMG the price 😳…. when i have a bit of time i will check what i can find as informations on this strains…. specially with Azospirillum brasilense...i even think (it s my opinion) that may be you can improve it use and effect... by improving the use of your ecto mycos...😜 (to make your brain work a bit 😊 take a look on wiki on Microaerophile definition and look at the schema on the right, number 4 compare to others ...then read what i said on ecto mycos….due to your analylitic brain i am sure that you could understand by your side) and if great white is well equilibrate normally it should have another N fixing bacteria strain inside…. as soon i have the time i will contact you by chat to share our opinions 👌

@Budofpray, I've said this before seems like European growers have access to better quality products than we have in the usa. Everything here seems to be quantity over quality. This is off Great Whites site. Seems like their mixture has a bit of everything. Not sure how many of these species are actually beneficial for Cannabis. But after using Advanced Nutrients Piranha and Voodoo juice (Toilet Water)on a couple of grows I was not impressed with the root structure and size. Great White showed a definite increase in my root structure with nice dense feeder root system. Trying the Azos product for the first time on this and my Lemon AK -47 grow so far amazing growth my best ever. I'm about to finish up week 3 tomorrow so I'll have some new photos up for the end of the week. Saw my first pistils on day 17 the tallest is 12" started to do some lst. Hope I didn't use too much of this stuff because I'm height limited to 24" of plant. I could always super crop if needed. Nice diary, beautiful colors, this is the next strain I will be trying. Any tips ? Peace
Philindicus
Philindicus
@Troll_Patrol, They were very good growers only thing I would do differently is try to keep the stretching down. The two taller ones I feel stretched too much. If they look like they are growing too fast I would try to FIM them rather than using LST. It might slow down the growth while diverting energy to the lower branches. Seems like some of the larger strains FIM would work better. You may wind up with a more even canopy that way. I think I would alternate feed then water while they are stretching. It's a matter of preference I tend to like small/Med sized plants for my set up. FB Blackberry,Zkittles,Lemon AK-47 all produce some very fine smoke.👍

Really love the info on week 2. Great help. Plant looks beautiful btw. Would you say the temp drop gives you all that color? how much of dip in temps do generally use?
Philindicus
Philindicus
@SirDillton, Thanks, I believe the temperature drop helps bring out the colors. This time of year I can't get them under 73 F. So it'really only a 4 or 5 degree drop.I also have been feeding plenty of carbohydrates to these girls through bloom. This with a good flush must force them to use up whatever nitrogen is left in the plant. Genetics could be part of it also.
RandomNoob
RandomNoobweek 2
Wow. Did this turn out to be TMV, after all? Is there a test? I've read up on it in the last weeks, and it seems that there are a large number of false diagnoses for TMV. That sucks. But from everything I've read, it's seriously contagious...so 'kill it with fire' (or a 15% bleach solution) seems to be the right approach.
Philindicus
Philindicus
@RandomNoob, There are a few opinions on this floating around. I've seen some comments that it is a root issue some say genetic. But there are plenty of plant viruses and plant vascular diseases that can cause these types of issues. There are tests you can do at home that will test for TMV or TMV spectrum type viruses. They cost a few $$. More than the price of a $5 or $10 seed. With out actually conducting a test I can't say 100% that it is TMV I'm going by the symptoms and the research I have done. I also want to be clear there is no finger pointing here about how they became contaminated because this type of issue can happen for a variety of reasons. I will say that if I personally run into the issue again I will use a test kit and also try to bring a sample to my local Agricultural Lab at a college to have it tested and share the results for other growers to learn of the issues they can run into.
grzesiek2
grzesiek2week 3
whats your par readings?
Philindicus
Philindicus
@@@grzesiek2, dzień dobry. PPF/PAR meter readings. It's used to measure the intensity of LED lights specific spectrum range. I use these measurements to give my auto flower plants optimum light intensities during different phases of veg and bloom. I will slowly increase to the maximum intensity at about mid bloom/late bloom. I use this technique rather than guessing how close the lights are to the buds without causing leaf/bud burn. My plant canopy is often uneven so I typically take 12 or more measurements at different parts of the plants and different locations under the lights. See week 2 there are a few internet links if you would like some more specific information.👌

Budofprayweek 3
good job dude 💪 Week 3 and already in flowering with first buds well formed is not so common 😳 it's normal for this strain ?
Philindicus
Philindicus
@Budofpray, I would say yes its normal if I was running my lights 24/7. I have heard a few growers claim when the roots on autos hit the bottom of the pot it can initiate bloom.I typically have roots coming out the bottom by week 3. Maybe I just hit their sweet spot.
AvoidantGrower
AvoidantGrowerweek 2
Hey man, I'm growing some blackberry autos as well and have a couple plants with the same issues and I just chalked it up to heat stress but I'm really just guessing.
Philindicus
Philindicus
@AvoidantGrower, I have heard if you use contaminated tobacco products you can transfer this virus to other plants, pots, soil etc. I don't use tobacco (Assuming it is TMV) and wear gloves when preparing my pots and soil these seeds went directly into distilled water from seed vial, then paper towel, sterile tweezers used to plant them. I figured it may have been in my soil mix or possibly an insect transferred it to the seedling. I have a brand new grow set up and use bleach/water spray solution on everything before use. Stuff like this happens. To tell you the truth pots are cheap I may toss the plant, soil pot rather than take a chance of future issues.
