I was having some germination issues in general and decided to germinate 7 for my four plant main room. The four moby dick came up fast and furious and I thought these were duds but low and behold they all came up two days later. I have a little 2x4x5 tent that I use for germinating, cuttings and drying with an hlg 90 watt and I added an old clunker mars hydro 300. Together they draw 210 watts and off we go!
I’m going to build a quick little drain to recirculating system just like my other two and see what kind of results we come up with. I don’t have high hopes with that wattage but sometimes simple is just better.
The stalks are looking great. They’ve been topped and while a little short they are getting some nice foliage. I would have like an hlg 260 in this little tent but that would’ve negates my 200 watt test
These are strong little autos! I got them topped last week and they are re starting to flower. They are under a little 90 watt HLG and I think I should be able to move them into one of the main tents as the timing is totally perfect with my others finishing just as these go into flower.
I’d rather be lucky than good ;)
For those who follow me could see that I was absent and I apologize to you and the ladies in this tent. These seedsman northern lights are tough. I was out of town for work during their prime stretch phase and all they got was straight water added to the res. Two of them are specimens still and the one without the floraflex feeding cap isn’t getting the nutes distributed they way the plant likes so today I’ll modify one and see if I can make her happier. In the end I know they’ll end up strong but it was during the crucial stretch period and they needed more than they got. All we can do is move on and try to make them flourish.
Thanks for looking. Have a great day.
My little hiccup of not getting the plants the nutrients seems to have carried over into flower and I believe I have a little mid flower nitrogen deficiency. Usually in weeks 3-4 I cut back to one teaspoon of flora gro per gallon but it appears to not be satisfactory for these ladies. I did a water change today and added more in and we’ll see if that does the job and stops these leaves from yellowing. Oddly enough the same goes for both strains in different tents.
Back on track! Giving them some nitrogen has them drinking water at a much quicker rate and the flowers are adding some new growth in all direction. I think they’ll be a week or two behind the original forecasted finish date and while the leaves may not be the prettiest these little northern lights autos are going to have that great smell and taste we’ve all come to love.
The leaves are starting to fade and the shortest of the three has had her pistils start to turn and is getting dense while putting on weight. They have that “northern lights” aroma that is a personal favorite of mine. It’s time for the fox farms beastie bloomz for a week or two.
I burned them with nutrients in week three of flower thinking it had a deficiency. That put them behind until I could get them drinking water again. The aroma and flavor is exactly what you think of northern lights. Maybe someday down the road I’ll try it again.
