This is a three way grow in different mediums. All Gold Glue, one Coco, One Soil, and One DWC. This is the DWC Grow!
Day 3 - While I had trouble with these Gold Glue Girls germinating, this one seems to really like living in a rock wool cube, and shot out of the block in 48 hours. She's still a little baby sprout, but she seems to be doing well. We'll see how she does!
Day 6 - Transplanted into her own bucket! She had about an inch of taproot hanging out so it looks like the hardest part of getting her started is over.
Day 7 - Another REALLY wrinkly looking Gold Glue? Let's watch this girl VERY carefully I suppose.
Day 8 - Another Gold Glue with weird wrinkly leaves! She seems to be unfolding and straightening out a bit. As with the other Gold Glue girls, she's being babied quite a bit.
Day 14 - As we end week two her second true node has come up, and while the leaves are still a little odd, they are functionally "Normal" now, so that's good news!
Day 15 - Into week 3! She seems to be sort of straightening out from her early weirdness. Her new nodes look healthier, but still a little off, with some asymmetrical leave patterns. But she looks FAR more robust than she had, so all appears to be well!
Day 21 - She's smaller and narrower leaved the the Grapefruit DWC, a little lankier, but she is really bulking up! As all three Gold Glues are many days apart, I have to go back through and look at specific days from seed to get a good comparison. Will be easier at the end of the grow to compare relative progress.
Day 22 - While she started off a little slower than her DWC cohort, (The FB GRAPEFRUIT) she has caught up and is looking pretty fat and sassy now! Minimal effort has been necessary to take care of both of these girls. I'm kind of seriously considering just going 100% DWC with all of the grows from now on, actually. I seem to have a knack for it, and they grow LARGE. This girls are a week behind the main grow, and are the same size.
Day 28 - End of week four! She's getting huge and looks good!
Day 29 - She's starting to drink quite a bit. About half a gallon a day now. She's also starting to get a nice sour stench as well. Not a lot of defoliation for her.
Day 35 - As we round out seek six, she's doing amazingly well. Started her on Maxibloom this week because she was asking for phosphorous.
Day 36 - Into Week Six! Both DWC girls are swelling up and beginning to flower! This girl seems to be drinking a whole lot more than the grapefruit. Adding half a gallon a day to keep up with her.
Day 42 - Final Day of week six! Both DWC girls needed a reservoir refresh and have responded well. This girl is really chunking up, with rather thick pompoms.
Day 43 - Into Week Seven! The burst of growth going into the flower stretch has begin and the DWC girls are looking really good. The Gold Glue has been a tiny bit temperamental about her nutes. (She seems to want a whole lot more phosphorous than the Grapefruit so she's getting more Maxibloom right now.)
Day 50 - Into week nine! Both DWC girls are doing very well. The grapefruit has obviously caught up with her Gold Glue Comrade. She's got more mass and thankfully has a little more space to breathe than the first Grapefruit grown in the last grow. The Gold Glue continually seems to have a weird (Very minor) deficiency that I can't pin down but she's doing so well I'm basically ignoring it. Brown specs on random leaf tips in random points on the plant maybe one in twenty leaves. As I am continually, gradually defoliating, these are the leaves I yank. She's thriving and her roots are gorgeous so I have chosen not to care.
Week Nine!! Everything looks great! Aggressive defoliation and dead leaf removal is happening on the DWC girl underbellies, verging on lollipopping as they aren't being trained for flatness. Branch spreaders are slowly going into effect to get more light down deep. This girl is actually getting closer to the end, more quickly, than the Grapefruit.
Day 64 - Into week ten! The DWC girls are chugging along nicely and really packing on buds. The Gold Glue seems to be about a week or so off from finishing. The Grapefruit maybe a week after that.
Day 71 - We're into week eleven! The DWC girls are doing great and coming along nicely. Both are getting fall colors and their roots are a nice creamy white. The Gold Glue girl is just about done, and she's probably going to be the first one harvested. Her colas are large and thick, and her calyxes are getting swole and poofy as all getout.
Day 73 - Today she got the chop! (Well, the first chop) - Weights will be updated when everything is dry to be as accurate as possible. She's got a nice, sweet/sour smell and was a breeze to trim. She's a little small but she was also the first girl to finish. Updates on the second harvest, in a week or so, will be edited in.
Day 78 - Final chop is done! Her final overall wet weight is 627.7 grams, or 22.14 ounces. Her projected dry weight is 132.49 grams, or 4.67 ounces. She was a comparatively small girl but she was super thick and that seems like a totally satisfactory... total.
The Triple Threat answer - The original point of this grow was to compare the results of a single strain between three different grow methods. Soil, coco, and DWC. There is still more to be harvested from the coco, and the soil girl has at least another week to grow, but the answer is clear, for *this particular strain* - Under identical lighting, with identical nutrients, apart from accounting for the differences in medium, coco seems to be the best way to grow a Gold Glue girl. This DWC girl did great, but didn't grow like a freak in DWC. The soil girl is going to be *Maybe* a solid two and a half ounces. MAYBE three? The coco girl looks like she's going to give me something close to seven ounces.
Whichever way they turn out, growing is fun!
