So far so good!
Soil: 1 bag FoxFarm's Ocean Forest + 2 bags of FoxFarm's Happy Frog + 2lb dry coco choir.
Seeds: FastBud's Gorilla Glue started out under a 17 watt LED plant light (2 inches away) and FastBuds Blackberry was under a 65 watt CFL (4 inches away) for the first week.
Watered with 6.3 pH adjusted distilled water via drip method (1 cup each).
These babies are movin and groovin! I love these genetics so far FastBuds! The tightness of the Gorilla Glue nodes are superb. I literally can just sit at my closet door and stare at these beautiful specimens all day. I haven't really run into any issues so far except maintaining a proper humidity %. I placed a shallow medium black dish (to attract more light/heat) next to the plants and that seems to be working fine. I'm currently running them under 300 watts MH and will turn the dial to 400 watts once adequate leaf production/ increased photosynthesis surface area is reached.😊
Started some LST this week and they seem to be responding well. Hopefully they take off this week because they seem to be behind in size in comparison to other growers growing the same FB strains.
- Fed 1/8 tsp FoxFarm Grow Big at the beginning of the week
- Decreased the distance between the light and the plant tops
- LST the GG 2 days ago with some hemp string but recently replaced it with less abrasive soft plant wire.
- Ponytailed the BB for approximately 6-8 hours a day for the past 3 days to initiate side shooting.
- I'm gonna LST the BB tonight since the GG responded so well
These girls really took off this week! I fed them FoxFarm's Grow Big and Whole Foods Blackstrap Molasses at the beginning of the week and they really responded well. Pre-flowers are in and I'll be switching from Metal Halide to High Pressure Sodium tomorrow. I've been using a quarter filled bucket of water with a black water wicking shirt to keep the humidity around 50% and it seems to be working well.
Fed them with some FoxFarm's Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom earlier this week with a touch of molasses. I finished the last bit of LST in the beginning of the week to help spread their canopies out. The GG seems to be stunted in growth a little bit but I'm finding that to be a little common among-st other diaries I've come across around this time. She's just a little more finicky or hangry then the other girls, but we'll figure this beautiful complex girl out. She's very short coming in at 15 inches compared to BB who put on over 10 inches this week (21 inches tall). BB purples are starting to really show; she's so alluring. I hope you all enjoy the pics. Much love and feel free to leave any comments/ advice. I'm already so deeply immersed into this hobby halfway through the first grow. Shout out to FastBuds; the conception of Green Crack and Rhino Ryder Diary #2 starts next week!
HELLLPPPPP
So I have been having trouble with the GG and can't seem to cure her. I wanted to know if a more experienced grower could help identify the problem and what steps to take next. She is still putting on weight in flower and is currently in her 6th week. It looks to me like she is having a cal-mag problem from my research but I'm not confident. She's been a lot of fun to grow and I wouldn't want to lose her this far along, but her leaves from the bottom up (quickly) are turning yellow with brown spots as seen in the photo (is this normal?) Blackberry on the other hand is still rocking her socks off with no problems. Thanks for your time! This week will be updated Friday or Sunday.
Gorilla Glue (16 inches) has finally been showing some signs of recovery. She'll probably only go a couple more weeks following some flushing. I hope I can still get a quality over quantity on her. The blackberry (24 inches) did some crazy color morphing over the past 2 weeks; she looks like peak autumn.
Hey guys hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. Blackberry continues to shine without a hitch fingers crossed. Check out the vids and pics on gorilla glue please. Some of her calyxis seems to be turning brown. Is this normal around harvest? I was going to harvest her probably next week, but would take her head early if I had to since she's been an on going battle. Let me know what you guys think! Much love.
She's got about 1-2 weeks left according to the trichomes. I plan on cutting her down when she's about 10-20% amber. She continues to thrive and is fox-tailing well. I've never smelled anything fruitier. The smell of her makes your mouth salivate; just straight berries. I could grow only this strain for the rest of my life and be happy. She really turns vibrant with a nice long flush.
The Fast Buds Gorilla Glue auto really took off in the vegetative stage and was very easy to grow. She demonstrated very tight inter-nodes in veg and exploded with side branches with careful LST/ pony-tailing. Her leaves looked almost sativa in nature even though she is advertised as indica dominant. She was doing well in the first week of flower and then demonstrated a nutrient deficiency the 2nd week of flower. Im not sure if it originally was a "nutrient lock-out" or cal-mag deficiency, but she had trouble recovering. Overall, the problem stunted her growth and robbed her of some yields. I personally ran into a frustrating problem where I could not get cal-mag for a couple of weeks due to a delivery issue and at that point the deficiency was really tearing her leaves apart. Even with the doses of cal-mag finally and several flushes, she only showed minor signs of recovery in the final 2 weeks. Her buds still came out very indica oriented (quite dense) even though her phenotype originally was sativa dominant. She actually does smell very similar to the adhesive part of Gorilla/Duct tape, and only mildly smelled of weed in my room. I would like to try her again once I get a little more experience under my belt.
Smoke update: She has been curing for a while now and is starting to come along nicely. This is definitely a strain that really never hits its peak potential without a nice long proper cure. 1 month in and that grassy dank chlorophyll smell is finally gone. Now she smells piney with a smooth vanilla background and hint of lemon. Once you crack her open though that lovely glue smell takes over. She was a little harsh on the throat in the beginning but has developed a nice smooth piney/woody taste with just a drizzle of lemon smoke. She will never smoke as silky as the blackberry but thats because I couldnt flush her long enough.
The high is relaxing and mellowing but I do not feel couch locked at all (i couldnt let the trichs get >5% amber on this round due to problems). Smoking excessively can really bring out the giggles. Definitely a high that allows you to still be functional during daytime use.
This is NOT a plant that I would recommend for a beginner she can demand much more attention without reciprocation, which was frustrating for my FIRST EVER grow (woohoo!). She is one that I have had a little bit of trouble growing and others on this site Ive researched have had trouble growing. She is a little more sensitive to nitrogen and other nutrients yet gulps cal-mag.
I dont think I ran into one problem with this girl. She was very compliant and super hardy, yet exotic. This was a fantastic strain by Fast-Buds to use as a first grow. Her smell exudes crushed berries. I could honestly grow this beautiful plant for the rest of my life and be content. I would recommend this as a beginner plant to anyone. Her colors and smell really ignited this new passion.
Update on the smoke: Smoking with a vape youre pretty much drinking blackberry juice shes so sweet and smooth like an exotic punch.
Her smell is intoxicating and really smells nothing like weed. It smells more like an earthy berry yankee candle. Its berry tang hits you though opening up those jars every 24 hours😋. It ignites my senses.
The high is such a nice happy cozy elegant feeling. You can just lie there relaxed in bed thinking about positive daydreams and reflections on some of your favorite life moments while feeling like humbled royalty.
This can be smoked to a psychedelic level pretty mildly. You become hyperconcious of sound falling victim to the rhythmic vibrations of all objects that seem to echo their way into your body. Music on this bose speaker sounds so silky. Visuals come in and out like a sine-wave intensifying and relaxing slowly. I remember the ceiling looking wavy and geometric of sorts. And then your waking up to your morning alarm.
I have tried using this strain with activity and it was nice. I took a nice geometric walk around the city blocks with my gf feeling like i was glowing, everything felt so good. Definitely that high that makes it feel good to move your feet a little.
Harvested on Day 70 after a 2 week flush. I just took the colas off their hangers and cut them up into their individual buds. They were hanging for about 4-5 days and have been placed in their quart-sized wide-mouth mason jars to cure. Although Gorilla Glue took up 2 jars and Blackberry took up 4, their dry weight will probably be equal. Im finding the buds to be less dense and "airier" in comparison, but Im not one to harp on density.
Hay bro you have done a great job so far and you are not far from the end, you have done the right thing by flushing (when In doubt flush her out) ...... I think you have a magnesium deficiency due to the slightly low PH, calcium and magnesium are only absorbed above 6.5 so you need to get it up slightly. If you google search cannabis ph chart and look at the images you will see at what ph nutrients are absorbed.
Hi Leeyum, Your are getting what I call the 35 day PH swing.. tang is right that your PH is off but the question is how far off! On your next grow using soil add some lime to it.. this will stop that swing from happening. Do you have a PH meter? can you tell me what your soil PH is right now? Im thinking its down to low and needs to come up a few points.. whats is the PH of your feed?
@the_Elvis, Ive been feeding consistently at a pH ranging from 6.2 to 6.5 and the flush was coming in around 6.5 so according to the chart I don't think her ability to absorb cal-mag would be too impeded. I'm thinking she might just be a more demanding plant with those nutrients since the blackberry has had no issues, but i plan to feed her some cal-mag at 6.5 or a little above tomorrow.
Hi, Leeyum! Thanks for sharing your diary! As they said, great strains there, very potent and tasty!
Anything you need, just tell us! Enjoy and have a nice grow! 👊
Looks like she recovered very nicely bro. That's good stuff, that Blackberry is looking amazing, I've seen a few people running it on here and it looks so good. This is a must try for me. Good luck with the finish man. Keep up the excellent work. Grow on brotha 🌱🍁💨
As many great growers here said, flush. Best thing you can do is wash out the issue and let t dry out. Then start light...amazi work so far for a first grow!! ❤️👊👍👌 the end is near!!
What are some opinions on dark periods for autos prior to harvest? I haven't done my research on it yet but was hoping someone could clue me in on the science behind these "dark periods."
Looks like a call mag issue you me. There's a few different remedies for it. Of course you can buy cal-mag at to mixture when you water or feed, an easy home remedie is Epson salt. 1 tsp per gallon of water. Hope this helps man. Grow on my friend. 🌱🍁💨
@Sumgrower420, Thank you for the advice! I flushed her today to make sure she wasn't locked out and will pick up some cal-mag tomorrow for her. Fingers crossed.
I am at day 45 on both of these strains and will follow you along the way any questions or whatever feel free to ask away any or all of us will help if u need it....... So welcome and hope to see awesome plants! Fastbuds gg & bb awesome plants and dank so far....
