Just sprouted so no nutes at this time...... Still waiting for the Auto Blue Diesel to pop out :)
Did the ol' 24 hr soak; then into the wet paper towel method to sprout them. This is my first time trying autos and am rather interested to see what I get. This will be the start of my third grow.
Well, I wasn't thrilled with week two and was hoping for a bit more. The girls had a quick growth and caught me at a bad time - stretching a bit. I've had to run some wiring to support them. Hoping they firm up. I've moved them under the full grow light, although shaded by a couple larger plants a bit. They've taken nicely to the nutrients and upped light. Will expose I think to full grow light with some distance tomorrow.
The Blue Diesel is not doing great. I lost two of the three I planted and the remaining one here is sort of funky leaved. The seed husk was difficult to get off and required lots of assistance....not sure if bad genetics? I think I did things OK, as really, I got 7/9 success. Not sure what normal/expected loss is?
So the growth seems still quite slow to me. These are my first autos and perhaps my expectations are off? Anyways they seem to be healthy just smaller than hoped at this time. The girls got moved to their forever homes, 3 gallon pots. Of note is the Auto Diesel x Auto Blueberry strain which has done poorly so far. Only 1/3 seeds germinated and the remaining one is gnarled. Im growing to see if it is viable, and think it should be.....but a temperamental set of seeds, at the least. Some nutes in the feed but going easy after the transplant.
Missed this week so back filling a touch! The plants have seemed to take and have grown significantly.......I have intentionally allowed them to stretch a touch to aid in LST which is tricky right now as nodes are tight, and growth limited so far. Still positive on these ladies though! Even the Blue Diesel is looking happier.
Yay! Things are finally moving. The girls have grown quite a bit this week and have been put to some LST. Interesting height/branching differences in same strains (diff phenos)....I've had to drop light to 12hrs to match the photos in the tent and pistils have *just* started to form, therefor next entry will happily be a flower post! Heck ya!
Well the sad news is the Tommy the III, has passed after venturing a bit to far down the halide tube. RIP Tommy.
Otherwise the autos have settled into their own. I've made some corrections to previous errors and am seeing the results. I've got better control of the soil moisture and have flushed a nutrient buildup out that I feel may have been stunning them a bit. Modification to my light setup also helped (Im getting more watts on the way, dollar restricted currently though lol). Nice bud sites forming however so am encouraged. I am really surprised at the speed of their development - you will note the purple kush took off and stretched a lot! Getting happier.
Gave the ladies essentially a flush lite with pH'd water to 6.1, as I noticed the pH of waste was extremely high and contained high PPM. The flush lite seems very well received by the girls and they are super healthy. I've removed a couple of the lower leaves which I've not done previously. No negative effects it seems - but I only removed four lowest fan leaves of each plant.
The ladies are really picking up steam after their slow start. I think Ive got the bonkers weird pH sorted and stable as well as the nutes balanced well. Fed with average PPM Im using (650) plus the top dressed granulates which add some too. The bud sites are very healthy with thick, white and perky pistils - just not loads of sites. Its a race to see if the harvest is permanently past a decent grow or...... I give it 50/50. Im learning a fair bit of the differences to photos though, good times.
Well my concern continues to increase in terms of decent yeild. Ive identified another problem in the form of an arctic draft pulling extremely cold ait at ground level........its winter outside my garage lol. More and more certain these ladies are over nuted, diluting feed and doing slight over water to correct..
A huge flush was due with the ladies maturing. I noticed large swell after this, and kinda confirms they were a bit shocked from over nutes previously. Ive got the temp nailed down with better HVAC system in the ol garage. Again, its winter....some challenges hahaha.
Another week down and closer to harvest, better or worse! The ladies have really prettied up with last weeks changes - the inevitable is that Im going to have a poor harvest, however next try will be easy to avoid mistakes lol....still, these buds look to be extremely tasty and frosty....just not plentiful. Continued with water feed only from flush last week to clear nutrients and prep for harvest. Best regards all!
