@Fast_Buds, Thank you! My first C4 seedling wasn't too impressed with my "new-hardware torture test"!
She decided to mutate, and didn't grow past a day 1 size, at day 10!
She was replaced by another C4 seed, and is looking fantastic now, on day 7 -with the light at a more ideal height.
@Kid_Colombia, Thanks! Nice setup! :) Looking great! I see a couple things that might improve your grow!--- I've only been growing for ~2 years, I'm definitely not an expert. ;)
1) I prefer to start my seedlings in their final pot. This had the biggest impact on my setup.
In my 3x3 space, I run four plants in 5-7 gallon pots. I find that growth is maximized by allowing the roots to be unrestricted. - water when dry, when growing in soil or soilless media.
2) I also prefer bigger *plastic* pots, because they hold more water, and don't dry out as fast compared to fabric pots. In the later stages of growth I water to full saturation, and they're good 4-5 days before needing another dose. I like high porosity soilless media, because it's more absorbent, and has better drainage than soil. I use bottled nutes to feed the "blank slate" growing media.
3) Slightly more light intensity from day 0.- would reduce stretching in growth, and increase inter-nodal growth strength. Although the weaker inter-nodal growth is likely a combination of that and root restriction issues too. (topping fixed this, in your "week 4" case)
4) 1000000 ways to skin the cat... I've seen people have great success with smaller pots, but I've seen it takes some more tedious care..
I prefer a lazier style of watering as little as possible :)
with 7 gallon pots, I aim for:
days 1-7 soil dry every 1 day. (~1/2 cup dosage)
days 7-14 every 1-2 days. (~4 cup dosage)
days 14-30 every 3-4 (~1 gallon dosage)
days 30+ every 3-6 (~2.5 gallon dosage)
always waiting to water, until the media is ~90% dry.
A different style is the "Coco-coir + grow bags" combo, because coco needs to be watered every 1-2 days to remain moist.
The plant can really benefit from the extra oxygen, and extra drying speed that the grow bag provides.
I find that for my style, grow bags cause more work than what they benefit though.
Happy Growing!
Some beautiful looking buds. Some lovely deep purple colors on these nugs. Fantastic world. Keep doing what your doing and best of luck with the rest the grow.
