Started seeds by soaking in distilled water for 24 hours and then planting them in Root Riot seed plugs and placing the in Sprouter Hood with T5 CFL 6" to 8" away and warming mat. Got 8 out of 8 germination by day 4 or 5. But hood was very humid with RH above 70% at times because I sprayed generously with distilled water and Canna Rhizotonic Solution in dome originally. On day 3, I noticed some tiny white bugs and worried water and tonic was attracting bugs and potentially mold. I immediately sterilized tent and removed hood and lowered humidity. Transplanted plugs into 3 gallon pots with Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil and 15% Perilite soaked night before with tap water (forgot to check soil ph and later found was at around 7.5ph. I then started to adjust ph to 6.5 overnight before watering.) By end of week, seedlings were about 1.5" to 2".
Grow progressing well at this point, but preparing for a week trip away and came up with the idea to set up a drip irrigation system when I was gone (what a hassle). The problem was that I had to run directly from tap hose with elevated ph in the 7.5 to 8 ph range. Also, in climbing around pots with dripper hose and testing flow, etc.. I had several over watering scares. It worked overall, but I soaked the plants before I left and then set a 3 minute duration every 3 days when I was gone. Fear I may have over watered the plants, but the White Widows and half of other strains looked good when I returned. In 3 other plants, I started to see yellow spotting and yellowing of leaves. In these plants, spotted "the claw" and some signs of over watering or ph fluctuations. But White Widow held up nicely. Dealing with occassional white fly and put up Safer bug strips.
Tough week trying to straighten out issues with other plant strains in my grow tent. Dealing with visible bug infestation and potential yellow leaf mold on several plants (probably due to overwatering or ph fluctuation). This week I sprayed plants with Mold Control and Bug Blaster from ILGM to help combat and prevent problems in tent. Also, watered once early in the week with 6.5 ph water and then let go for over 7 days to dry out. White Widow seems to be happily chugging along despite problems in other plants (Lemon OG, White LSD, and Blue Dream).
Switched on bloom light on MarsHydro LED as flowers are starting to show for the first time. Also, started first nutrient treatment in addition to Rhizotonic during seedling phase and Ocean Forest super soil. Conducted LST last week and the plants are already filling out on lower branches and responding nicely (even broken stems on Lemon OGs). Continuing to spray for mold control and bugs with ILGM foliar sprays. Plants over all seem to be doing well. Though still see rust / redish spotting on lower leaves of some plants (due to PH flux, funghus or overwatering at some point). White Widow is bushy and lush, but seems to show signs of wilting / lack of water at times - even though just watered. Trying to resist overwatering and worry about potential root rot or disease that might be affecting some plants. So waiting between waterings and going to add some good bacteria, SM90, and light nutrients for next feeding.
Overall, plants continue to grow well and recover from LST. Continue to worry about under / over watering and whether leaf / root mold or bugs is causing spotting on leaves and wilting leaves from time to time. Have fought off white bug infestation and possible yellow leaf mold (maybe ph flux or root rot) in past weeks, but seems to be under control now with rarely a bug sighted and old rust spots on leaves at bottom of 1 or 2 plants being replaced by vibrant green growth above.
Trying to water ever 3 days or so with approximately 1/2 gallon of water each plant with 1/4 recommended Fox Farm nutrients and root protector from ILGM phd at around 6.3.
Tent is starting to smell abit skunky when opened. Tallest plant is around 12.5 (White LSD) and smallest is around 7" (White Widow #3). Avg plant is around 10" tall.
@CaliGrown,
Thanks for following. Those side rails are handy! I use them primarily for affixing a SCROG when appropriate, but found them to be great for positioning fans, sensors, camera at the right level when needed. Just lift them up and down with growth.
White Widow seems to be growing healthy buds and healthy green leaves. Dealing with some discoloring with other strains due to either (ph flux earlier or yellow leaf spot). That seems to be irradicated now and WW not effected.
