Budcrack Week 1, concluding the first week of vegetating (germinating): Hi(gh) guys! New project, this time 3 seeds of Spliff’s Gold Bar Kush. Gold Bar is a strain that’s got a strong tangerine smell, originating from the Orange Bud strain and crossed by Spliff with their Medi Kush. For this round I’ll take the grow techniques to the max, trying to grow 3 big plants out of them filing the entire space. Therefore I have 18 liter fabric pots, and I’ll try to grow with the at this point well tested V-8 topping plan. Only this time I’ll try and guide all 8 branches horizontal, and let all of the offshoots from each branch fill up the space. I hope this way to learn how fast it’s possible to grow big plants filling the space. This round I’ll continue using Green Buzz Liquids nutrient program, and their new Green Buzz Growzyme brown algae extract during the entire cycle. I was warned to expect big trees when adding the extract during the cycle, so I hope to end up with beautiful big plants. The first three weeks they will stay inside a 0,5 liter pot, after that they will be transplanted inside the 18 liter fabric pots. Otherwise the water would sink away immediately, and this way they can form a nice rootball during this time. In the pictures there is an extra pot, and an extra seed, but that was another strain but it failed to sprout. But the Spliff’s seeds all sprouted, and I’ll continue with just three pots. This round I’d make another growing plan of which you can see the front page in the pictures. All the info around germinating the seeds is there. From these three plants I’ll pick the best pheno and try to make seeds out of one branch using colloidal silverwater to force male pollen, and pollinate another branch with it. I’ll start with this at the end of week six of vegetating. Pollinating another branch at the end of the fourth week of flowering, that should deliver some seeds at the end of the cycle. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 2, concluding the second week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! The little seedlings are off with a nice start. They stand firm, awaiting in anticipation for all of the torment I got planned for them. Like cutting off their head, ty the libs to the rack and stretch them as far as I can, then pull out their leaves one by one, oh boy where going to have a great time! And in return they get so scared that they shit THC. Everything just looks healthy. This week I’d prepared them a foliage spray containing 0,1ml OGL, 0,2ml MR and 0,5ml HAP and sprayed them every day. Next week they get the first proper watering other than the time they were germinated and transplanted into the 1 liter pots. This week they got the spray every day, and meanwhile the roots could grow deep into the earth. I’d see that they were already inside the big pots through the bottom of the small ones. Next weekend there going to be transplanted into them anyway. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 3, concluding the third week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! Nice work on the side of GD transporting the growing techniques into the weekly updates, good work GD! But can we then add pinching (some call it Lolli popping), because that’s one important thing I’d manage to finish this week. By removing those lower beginnings, the plants don’t need to waste energy growing branches that deliver very little weed. And this way the leaves can grow and be a little solar buffer, not wasting any light warming the soil. If there are enough offshoots available in the remaining plant, then I’ll remove the top and focus on growing those much wanted offshoots. Plant A was helped on Wednesday, the others today. Also this was the three week mark so they went from the 1 liter pots into the 18 liter ones. Before that they got a layer of Neem-granules and also a tip of Green Buzz Living Organics into the hole. Then another regular watering and the last foliage spray. They will retard a little bit from pinching the offshoots, but much less than doing it much later anyway. Now let’s see if I can keep those internodes in check, I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 4, concluding the fourth week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! I’m happy to be able to conclude this week after having topped all three plants. Plant A was ready to top on Wednesday, but for the other two I’d had to wait until Saturday. At this point they each have 8 branch beginnings, which I’m going to tie down with the mainline-adapters and let them grow horizontal to the edges of the pot. Then I’m hoping there are going to be a lot of offshoots growing from those 8 branches, forming big bushy plants that can fill-up my grow space. I wonder what I’m going to yield from one of those plants. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 5, concluding the fifth week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! Boy, very busy week on the harvesting from previous round and cutting everything to nice buds, and the training from the three Gold Bar Kush plants, and that’s why I’m one week and three days overdue with my weekly update. I have been trimming buds for four days and it’s done now. So, week 6 at this point is also overdue, and right now it’s week 7 of veg for them. So week 5 was luckily the least spectacular week to report, so I’ll be completing it in a flash. The pictures are from Monday week 5, for the two largest plants at that point I’d made a mainline-adapter as showed there. Only for the next time I’ll make them with some extra holes so I can lower the branches more gradually along the stick. Also because the internodes will stretch more during these weeks. During week 5 I’d started tying down the branches along the mainline adapter. Plant C’s branches where still too short on Monday, so I’d fixed that the next weekend. That weekend we celebrated a kids party so I actually forgot to make pictures at that point, sorry! No pictures from 1 Decemeber, end of week 5. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 6, concluding the sixth week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! Like I told with last week’s update, at the time I should have made this update I was still busy trimming bud. This took not only Saturday and update-Sunday, but also Monday and Tuesday I’d had to find time to finish trimming outside my other obligations. Monday two of the three Gold Bar Kush plants where tied down enough to make some nice pictures, the last one of them (B) was still not far enough so I’d finished today on Wednesday. And that’s half way during week 7, I know! So those pictures are from today, only plant B, the others where done on Monday. So now that I ‘Mansplained’ myself out of this mess, and everything ads up again, let’s move on to this update: From this point onward the plan is to further lead the branches sideways and wait until they start growing up again. Meanwhile this week the tent is empty again, so next up is cleaning it up and moving the plants into the tent underneath the Scroggmaster 450, but still without the side-bars. In the tent the plants have room to grow further, so I can replace the sticks supporting the bottom 4 branches for a longer stick, so the bottom branches can grow passed the top ones. Meanwhile the top branches are being retarted until the bottom branches are up to level with them. I had some experimenting with ponytailing before, and it works only with a few buts and ifs, otherwise the chance is great to do more damage than it helps. And that’s why I’ll write this technique off, personal opinion, but I came up with an alternative that I’m going to try. More about that next time. Also, I’d plan to start on Sunday 8-12 with the colloidal silver water, but the plants just are not where I want them to be, so I’d opted to postpone this treatment until they are. I’m hoping to grow three really big plants out of the fabric pots. And finally boost that gram/watt/plant ratio! I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 7, concluding the seventh week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! I’m back on track with my obligations, and enough is happened to make an interesting new update again. I’d started on Friday with removing the set of fan leafs corresponding with the top two branches, and on Saturday also removed the two fan leaves from the set of branches below that. It’s a bit of a shame because I’m removing the biggest healthy dark green leafs that can deliver lots of energy for growing, but on the other hand being so big they prevent a lot of light from reaching the lower branches. And my plants at this point do have enough leaves to prevent from retarding too much, so I think I’m going to be fine. Saturday I bought some longer sticks for the mainline adapters. Every plant now has them applied to the lowest set of branches and the set above. All of which still have their big fan leaves, so they can continue growing for a while, and the branches need to continue to grow passed the top set of branches forming nice bushy plants. Last week they got their last dose of More Roots, and since they grew so big I did up the amount of both Organic Grow Liquid and Growzyme into 2ml/l for this week and see how they continue from here. I should have cleaned the tent by now but this week I’d had to give myself a little recovering time, so that’s going to happen on Monday, and then the plant will move into it also. With the longer sticks inside the mainline-adapter the three plants fit only just inside the pop-up tent in the kitchen, so it’s time. I had bought some ‘little green bag’s’, darkgreen paper bags that is. My plan was to use them to block light from some branches, to allow others to grow past them. I have given it some thought, but I don’t think it’s going to work. I’m afraid to partially put those branches into flowering already, and apart from that I think the bags also too small anyway. I’ll try this when I’ll start growing autoflowers. For now I desided to guide the longer offshoots at the top of the plants to the side also. That way the lower branches have more light and more time to catch up. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 8, concluding the eight week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! Life had yet another surprise in store this week, the night from Mon 16 to Tue 17 apparently my family, myself included picked up some virus. But it was not earlier than Thu 19 that I could found enough energy to simply give water! After that I’d lay horizontal the rest of the day again. I’m back on top now, only the plants had it tough. The shortage of water made them consume some lower leafs as seen on the picture. Also, and more important in terms of progress this week was mostly retarded. I’d opted to take yet another week extra because of that. Every time I have to at least move the plant-tie along the branches to prevent from damaging the branches, or break altogether, because that is the risk if you just leave them. The space between two pieces of plant-tie stretches, but if the plant-tie doesn’t budge it will push the branch into breaking itself. I must see if growing kicks in again how they develop later this week, but I guess to better forget about an easy way to let the lower branches grow to the level of the upper ones. Because the lower four branches won’t be able to do that. I’m going to use those branches from each plant to make some seeds of each pheno, using colloidal silver water. I could make pollen with the two lower branches, and later germinate the two above for the seeds. I could save all the seeds until I know which pheno is the nicest, after vaping them. And then you have seeds that pop seedlings that look very similar to the selected pheno. I don’t know how stable these plants will be, but at least that gives me a way to save a very nice pheno until later without having to mess with cuttings and stuff. next week i'll photograph plant C better, forgot it this time. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 9, concluding the ninth week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! After losing last week in terms of progress, this week was all about catching up. The plants did great this week and grew a good bit. For the two biggest plants I could finally execute my plan for making male pollen. I’d ordered large white paper bags, I think they measure 46cm x 20cm, and used as a sleeve around the lowest branch. You can see the type of clamps I use on the picture from plant A and also at rear side the paper is clamped around the branch. On the front side the branch can be sprayed with colloidal silver water for two weeks, and after that left alone until the 4th week of flowering. Then I’ll cut away the entire branch, sleeve and all, and put those pollen into a container for pollinating. From both plants the lowest branches are sacrificed for pollen, and the set of branches above that are going to produce seeds for next time. Plant C is very compact, which is nice, but there is no room for tricks with paper bags. Maybe I’ll use pollen from the other two plants. I’m going to stop trying to let lower branches grow to the level of higher ones. There is a list of reasons why this doesn’t work. Instead I’m going to focus on learning to make an efficient manifold. There is part of the answer in that technique, because it uses only the top set of branches, fanning out into smaller branches. Can’t wait. As for the planning, I’m going to dial back the light hours until next weekend I’ll switch 12/12. I’m going to spray silver water until two weeks from now. Then in the fourth week of flowering the pollen will be ready, and the branches above can be pollinated. This week I should apply a nutrient spray using Fast Buds, only I’m out of FB so they have to do without. When flowering is started I can replace More Roots with Big Fruits, and switch the base nutrients to Organic Flowering Nutrients. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 10, concluding the tenth week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! It was a great week for the Gold Bar’s, and they are really becoming big. And since Sunday also switched 12/12, so there is a lot of growth yet to come. I’m going to try and manage it by defoliating at the right time to stop stretching. Plant A and B both have the bottom set of branches sleeved for making male pollen, and last week sprayed silver water every other day. The sleeves were sagging to much causing the topside to rest on the leaves, so I’d cut 2cm wide circles from a large soda bottle and fitted them with some plant-tie, and placed on top of the branches they prevent that. As seen on the picture, I always like simple solutions with materials everyone has available. Anyway, problem solved! Last Sunday I’d give plant A and B a do-over, since the sticks where getting to short and the offshoots to high. It’s anyway a good idea to move the plant-tie often, so it won’t cut into the branches, cutting of the sap stream inside. Logically the top set of branches, receiving the most light did grow the biggest, but I was happy to see that the offshoots from the lower set of branches actually reaching the top of the canopy now. And since I’d guided all the top offshoots to the sides, now the plants are becoming very big and bushy, very nice just wait and see. Plant C is a different story since the internode spacing is so small, there was barely space to place a sleeve on the lowest branches. Only it has so much grow power that even the ends of the lowest branches are starting to catch up with the canopy. On the pictures I took I have just tied down the ends causing it to look stretchy horizontal, but if you’ll look at the picture from the next day inside the tent, there plant C is in front already pointing upwards again. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 11, concluding the eleventh week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! If this is going to work like I’d imagined it with those paper bags and clips, in combination with the mainline-adapters to generate some male pollen out of a single pheno, then I must say it is an fairly easy method. Today was the last day of spraying silver water onto the branches inside the bags, but since there is another week of transitioning before flowering is completely started, I will consider to continue spraying a couple of times maybe. Then for the first four weeks of flowering I must watch out not to squeeze the bags, for I’ll maybe accidently pollinate the wrong buds. At the end of those four weeks I can cut away the entire things, branches sticks and all, and extract the pollen in a safe environment. Plant A is real beautiful, and grown like I hoped, with the offshoots from the top branches led to the sides, allowing the lower growing offshoots to fill that space. Plant B is for some part also nice and big, only the offshoots don’t grow as much as I’d hoped. For plant C that’s also a bit the case only I’d let all the branches grow, not sacrificing any for making seeds, and I’m happy because this pheno is really nice. Last week I’d stretched the main branches a bit too much, so this week gave them again some space since plant C is still a bit lower than the rest. So now it can gain a bit extra height by stretching too the light again. Every plant shows signs of flowering with hairs appearing everywhere, so next week those little green crowns will be formed, calling in the flowering phase. Tomorrow the twelfth week starts for the GoldBars, and just the fifth week for the Smoothie auto’s, only at this point their growing schedules come together and they continue to use the same mix during the next week. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 12, concluding the twelfth week of vegetating: Hi(gh) guys! Time to call in the flowering period! Although I didn’t switched to 12/12 but to 13/11 I’m not disappointed, everywhere the little crowns are there indicating flowering kicked in. I was hoping that it wouldn’t take longer then normally and I’m happy it didn’t. Last week I’d stopped spraying the silver water and there is not much else on that for the upcoming couple of weeks, and at this point there is nothing to see yet. Just wait and see. Plant A and C came out perfectly as I hoped. A has become a very big plant with a big crown of offshoots sticking up, although C is a bit lower than the rest, it’s a very beautiful pheno. B would have come out the same as A, only I think I’d stressed one side of the plant too much and that side became stunned, resulting in only half of the plant growing straight. But there is still enough plant left to keep calling it a very big plant, so I’m not worried. Just a reminder how well you have to monitor the plants during vegetating, because with all this training mistakes are easily made. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 13, concluding the first week of flowering: Hi(gh) guys! First week of flowering on the counter and everything’s looking good with the ladies! I had some adjusting-space and used it by forcing down the longest offshoots from the two largest plants A and B, plant C is still well within the limit with 50cm height. I’d used some fishing hooks and some line to pull down and fix those branches. Both plants A and B are some 65cm high after adjusting. Plant A is really beautiful, even the lower branch’s offshoots have grown up enough to fill the space with long branches. Plant B still has one side that’s not shooting enough branches, but has enough bud sites. And the two branches that did grow enough are going to form nice big cola’s. Plant C is also a really full bushy plant, showing a nice amount of bud sites. Together with their new roommate, smoothie auto plant D, they fill the space nicely! Not forget mentioning that every disadvantage has an advantage, and I’d planned to use the LED-bars from the side fill lighting for the two upperdecker’s, but since now I only have one, I can use them for side filling the goldbars anyway, and those lower branches are getting to little light right now. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 14, concluding the second week of flowering: Hi(gh) guys! This week I’d finally had the energy to build in the shelve inside the tent for the upperdeckers, and I needed to free some extra cm’s. There was some space to adjust the highest branches enough to fit underneath. Plant F from the other grow that shot passed its destined height, has been bend into submission enough to also fit the tent. The remaining single LED bar was added to the bottom of the tent to add some much needed light underneath the foliage. The LED’s on top will start at 4.30 in the morning, followed by the one in the middle at 5.00, and the one on the bottom at 6.00. Last week I’d also got a little stock up for the Green Buzz Liquids products that were missing. It was the last weekend that the plants were supposed to get Fast Buds, so I’d made a batch of solution containing 5ml/l FB, a high dose to kick start flowering. Also upped the Big Fruits to 2ml/l. Nice to see all that big plants standing together inside the tent. It’s going to be a nice harvest! I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Budcrack Week 15, concluding the third week of flowering: Hi(gh) guys! I’m really proud of the Gold Bar’s! They look super healthy. Plant A is the most beautiful plant, plant C is also very nice. Plant B has two big offshoots that became too long, so I’d LST’ed them down. One half of plant B didn’t grow as good as A did, but otherwise there very much comparable pheno’s. That fault was on my side. The smell is developing only faint at this point. But with seven weeks to go, there’s enough time to become strong, and there is no doubt in my mind that it will. This photoperiod strain is better able to withstand draught then my other Smoothie autos are, but my inexperience with large plants like these taught me to water every single day. Plant B in this case had suffered the most damage from watering too little on two occasions, but there getting 500ml every day now. I’ve had little sneak-peek inside the paper bags. There’s not much light for male flowers to develop, but there are some noticeable so I must see how this develops. There is one LED-bar inside on the bottom to shed some light, but the other bar is broken for a while now, so it’s a little less light than I hoped for. Next weekend I’ve planned to harvest the male pollen, I hope there is enough by then. Otherwise I can cut the branches anyway, only leave the paper bags and place them into water to further ripen away from the plants. I hope this is going to work. If it does, it’s a nice way to create copies from selected pheno’s. And I’m planning to use the technique on a very special pheno at a later grow session. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 16, concluding the fourth week of flowering: Hi(gh) guys! Finally the branches with the paper bags on them could be cut off, and I was waiting for that because now I can spread the little light from below from the single beam better underneath. I’d inspected all of the bag’s content, and was happy to see some cluster of male flowers that where not yet ripe. So I have taped the undersides from the bags and placed them into a bit of water beneath the window to further ripen. The plan is to use the still heavily under light set of branches beneath the main canopy for making the seeds. These branches lost almost all their leaves and support little offshoots with small underdeveloped buds. I must see how they develop now there is more light available, there is some time until the pollen are ripe. Above those dedicated sets of branches with plant A and B sits the main canopy. I would hate to sacrifice those buds for making seeds, so I hope it’s going to work with the available material. We’ll see. Main canopy looks great and starting to smell great too. Every day there is a more pronounced citric smell noticeable. And it’s starting to look great too! Plant C I left basically alone after topping and training and has become a beautiful plant with nice bud sites. Because of the short internode space the lower branches really did grow almost to the level of the top ones. I didn’t do any defoliation until now, apart from the leaf that came of naturally. Now some of the lower buds that are there became too light colored, so a good amount of large leaf was removed. Light penetration must improve real good now, and they need to go for another six weeks until their completely done. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 17, concluding the fifth week of flowering: Hi(gh) guys! No news from the male pollen, they are not yet open. Five weeks to go with the Gold Bar’s. Given how everything is looking at this point, all three plants are very healthy and dark green, all have nice thick main buds promising some serious fattening the upcoming weeks, and all plants have little burnt points on the tip of the leaves indicating that I’d pushed them enough with the nutrients. I really am happy with how they are right now. Not much else to tell at this point, so, I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 18, concluding the sixth week of flowering: Hi(gh) guys! Bugs! Plant C is showing really small bugs! I’d had these once before few years back, that plant was infested at one point and I had to toss it. The Gold Bars have another four weeks to go and they are very beautiful, I hope something can be done? I have no idea. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Anyone's got some advice how to deal with the bugs at this stage of flowering?

I don't know the solution, but even though the pic is fuzzy, I can see an eye and some legs, that is definitely a thrip. If you Google Image that, you'll see right away that's what it is.

Budcrack Week 19, concluding the seventh week of flowering: Hi(gh) guys! This time, for the Gold Bar Kush’s update some impression pictures from the current state inside the tent, without needing sharing space with the Smoothie’s. With the auto’s leaving I’d turn down the light cycle to 12/12. Long was I thinking what was wrong with plant D’s two main cola’s, but it hit me that my heavy straining from forcing down the two big branches, together with (for photoperiod not ideal) 13 Hrs. light schedule caused it to reveg. a bit at the very top. The most bud below looks ok, and there is still some time to go until harvest. Plant A and C look very good and begin to smell very strong now. The smell is strong citrus, a lot of limonene terps inside this strain. Now I’m waiting for it to develop into a more complex smell. The punch comes usually in the end and it’s starting to look very good now. Plant C showed some bugs last time, still want to know what they are but no time to look into it myself. I think they’ll manage. The male pollen cuttings are slowly dying inside the glasses behind the window, but still don’t release their pollen. Maybe I should let them dry out entirely, like forgotten flowers. Maybe sift the pollen out of the remains. The plants are very thirsty, they’d drink a total of 3,5 liters per plant this week. Of which 3 liters contained 5ml Organic Bloom Liquid per liter, so I’d made a bit of progress in feeding. That thirst is a good sign, there not there yet, hooray for the green! I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Budcrack Week 20, concluding the eight week of flowering: Hi(gh) guys! This week the plants got their last dose of nutrients on Friday, a slightly lighter dose of 3,5ml/l Organic Bloom Liquid. There is still no activity with the male pollen, so I’d decided to let that cuttings dry out and hope the pollen will release after all inside the paper bags. I can sift the pollen out of the plant material. But since I’m only two weeks away from harvesting, there is no time to grow seeds if I get it. But the lower branches on the plants have loads of little buds that are too tiny anyway. So I’d decided to make a short flush on the plants, with just one watering using Clean Fruits product to get rid of the leftover nutrients, followed up with a dose of 5ml/l Big Fruits, Growzyme and Humic Acid Plus, to optimize resin production before harvest. Also going to put them two days in the dark for the first time. Then I’m going to harvest the top branches with the biggest buds, leaving the lower branches on the plants. The plants are going back underneath the Scroggmaster 360 and I hope to be able to revive them a bit, long enough to be able to pollinate the leftover buds, and hopefully deliver some seeds anyway! This is considered to be my last chance to succeed with some form of my initial plan. The buds look and smell really good. There is also quite some weight to this big plants. I’m very curious to see what they are going to yield. The buds indeed have some sort of gold hue about them. Most important will be the taste. The smell certainly is very Lemony, although I don’t really smell tangerines in them. On Sunday I have used three tablespoons of Neem-granules to make some Neem tea. Neem kills unwanted pests, only late in flowering you can’t spray it onto the leaves because the buds would be contaminated with the foul tasting Neem. So I have spread white sheet over the table and placed the plants on top one by one and have given them a firm shake. I must say that I didn’t see any pests after finishing, but afterwards I have poured the cooled down Neem tea over the soil, so any larvae or Thrips should be dead then. Also because I want to revive the leftover plants for making seeds. The Thrips have gorged on the smaller and thinner leaves, leaving all of them with white snail track-like scars, some died and dried out. The bigger leaves also have those slug-scars but are still healthy. It seems that the THC-covered parts are less wanted by them. But this is in fact a nasty pest if you would get it early on, and can do a lot of damage. I’m looking forward to see you back and check on the Gold Bar’s progress next week! Grtz, Budcrack ;-)

Week 20. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

Spliff’s Gold Bar Kush is a hefty strain reminiscent of the bronze age of Dutch Cannabis. Let’s not forget it was the Dutch that started taking the first steps into crossing nice pheno’s from the existing land strains in the years 80’s. Gold Bar has a strong citrus smell and taste, but certainly also a strong Skunkiness. The plants A and C show very dense buds that give a smooth silky vapor (yeah, I don’t smoke) with the strong citrus/skunky taste. Plant B suffered from my tweaking with the day length because of the ‘upperdecker-grow’, resulting in the loss of energy in making leaf instead of resin. That one’s on me! I’m happy with the end result of 157 gram, of which 60 grams main bud, another 34 grams small bud and last but not least 63 grams resinous material for making medicinal oil.

Budcrack Harvest time! Only this time there were some problems that made me take another approach. The thrips are still active so I thought it would not be very wise to lock them up together with the bud inside a paper bag. So I’ve decided to just cut the entire top part of the plant main stem and all, and hang them inside the top of the tent. But ofcourse not before I have given them a thorough shake. Then from the lower part of the plant where still some bigger buds, which I’ve also cut, trimmed and shaken clean, before they did ended up inside the bag, leaving just the lowest part of the plant with all of the small buds I’ve intended to use to germinate and create some seeds. At this point the remaining part of the plants are inside my small garden greenhouse, and I’ll keep you posted if it’s going to succeed. Normally I’d preferred to trim the bigger leaf from the wet branches, then dry inside my paper bag and finally trimming the dry buds for bringing up the final bag appeal. Only now I’d chose to only remove the fan leaf and hang drying. I turned the ventilation almost on the lowest setting during drying. As I said with the strain review, I’m happy with the results from plant A and C. Plant B started revegging, and thus ended up with a lower end weight. A shame because it had the biggest buds. The positive thing about dry trimming is that you don’t actually have to trim anything, it takes a bit more time, but you can literally push the leafs from the bud.

@Mrs_Larimar, hi, yeah well i'm hoping to reach a certain level of quality, and my Gen. I Led-lights don't eactly hurry things up, so it takes longer to reach that point. That would be my best exp, only also realizing the longer a grow takes, the bigger the chance to pic up some pest! Thanks, nice to hear 👊
