Very exciting since it's actually growing now! After a slow start with the 4 bottom leaves developing the new growth is explosive, usually adding a new pair every other day. I will start doing LST sometime soon, probably will be a weekend project since I want it to be a bit taller and mature before trying. Had a scare on W2.7 due to power going out for 9hrs but I'm on 24hr light schedule and it's an autoflower it might not be affected as much. I have not started adding nutrients yet, I will keep just using PH balanced water until about week 4, after which I plan to use Fox Farms Grow Big at half dose for some veg growth.
@closetGrow, Thanks for the advice! I've been flushing the plant for 1 week already and haven't watered it in 2 days since I read it speeds the drying process when finally chopped. The pistles are about 50-60% orange and the trichomes are about 20% amber. I have a cheap DIY box I will use for drying for 1 week before transferring to jars. I am planning on cutting it tomorrow, I actually started germinating another seed so I can start another grow!
@thainguyen,
I waited for the pistols to turn about 40% amber.
If you are going to smoke it, do a flush a few days (or week) before the harvest. This should get rid of most of the nuke taste. Make sure the buds are dry before putting them in containers or they could form mold. Most people will put the buds in mason jars for a few weeks and open the jar daily to cure the weed.
I cut mine and hung it upside down in the grow tent for about a week, then dried it in the oven at 200 degrees F for 35 minutes to get the rest of the moisture out. I then further dried and decarboxilated the buds at 240 degrees for 45 minutes. I am using most of my grow for tincture and cannabutter for edibles. If you will be decarboxilating your weed, be careful not to overheat it, or you will destroy the THC and CBD.
I'm not an expert, but this has worked well for me.
Good luck!
@closetGrow, thank you, I'm very happy with how it's going for my first ever grow, quite glad the plant stayed so bushy and didn't reach high in my bucket yet :)
@closetGrow, I was reading from the autoflowers subreddit that people have had success with all kinds of lighting schedule. I kinda like the 20/4 just because the temperature does get a bit low without the lights on at night so I turn them off during the hottest part of the day and it uses less electricity than a full 24/0. I think with my next grow I wanna try different lighting schedules :)
