Hello and welcome to Week 3 of bloom with Blue Cookies. If you all actually read these things, I've decided to add a short "What I learned this Week" section at the bottom. This will be a short blurb on new techniques, methods or general cannabis knowledge that has helped me. Most importantly, it will include the information I've gathered from other members that have helped me see past false information and notions about cannabis growing that I had believed... Anyways! The deets: The Good: -The stretch has come to an end.... This is the most important thing I have to report. By mid week she noticeably stopped pushing upwards and started to flower/bulking outwards. This saves me from having to make some serious changes and jury rigging to the tent system I currently have set up. If I had to make those changes, it would be if she reached an 80% stretch, but she seems to have tapped out at 60ish%. So happy! I still have 6 inches of play room with the current set up! Note too self: Don't let them get this tall, ever again. -With the stretch ended and the lights at their recommended buffer space, the tent space has a quality 4x4 flowering footprint. Not perfect, but a vast improvement from grow one๐Ÿ‘. -Her being the first thing I see when I open the tent every morning is the best way to start my day. She is consistently impressive to me. When I feel she can't get bigger, lusher or stronger....she does. Blue Cookies is a goddess to me. That's bias, yah, but I love her the most๐Ÿ˜ -Under-Canopy is cleaning itself up well. I leave my sugar makers and give them a little tap everyday to see when they're ready to go. If they're rotting, I take them. But if they're still green and being cannibalized I let her tell me when It's time to take them. A little tap and the ones that fall gotta go. -I've officially deemed Sturdy Stalk as a successful addition to my personal grow feeds. Three weeks now, and the strength of her laterals is very evident. It has fantastic tensile strength but is still malleable enough to move when needed. Great stuff. Personally, it took about 2 weeks before I started to notice a difference, but it is doing it's job. Would recommend a potassium silicate supplement to any one thinking about it. Doesn't need to be Sturdy Stalk, but something you're comfortable with. You won't regret it. Credit to Larimar for pointing this out and recommending this application. Great results. The Bad: -No bad with BC, I think. I noticed a couple circular burn marks that were reminiscent of septoria. Very localized and only affecting 3 blades (5 spots in total, mid section of plant). My humidity is good but my circulation was lacking. As a precaution, I removed these 3 blades (and they were small blades too...no biggy at all), upped my intake and outtake ventilation and added another fan to keep air moving constantly. Really high chance it was nothing, but I took these steps anyways. Been 5 days and nothing has popped back up๐Ÿ‘. I don't have pictures of it too show you either, and I really wish I took some so I could officially diagnose it and if it was anything at all. If it comes back, I will take the blade and post some update photos. The 'Meh': -Still the same meh's mostly. That random mutation keeps popping up. It does nothing at all. Will affect a single blade of 7-9 blades and doesn't spread. Just a random discoloration/mutation. It's not aesthetically pleasing, but it is nothing. Notes of the week: -After a suggestion by another member I have changed my lighting set up...again. SF-2000 is now over the largest two girls and are placed in the front, now (BC and NL #2). The blurple will be taking care of the two smallest ladies from here on out (NL #1 and DSD) and will be rotated, but stay in the back for the remainder of the grow. I didn't think this through too well and the advice I received made total sense. More intense light over the big girls to slow stretch and less intense blurple over the little ones to encourage a little upwards movement, evening them out a little better with the rest of the canopy. -Stretch is essentially over, thankfully. All girls have seemed to tap out and have maintained the same height (maybe an inch here or there). It stopped at the perfect time... -Increased intake and out take airflow/fan speed and have put vent line under the canopy. Previously it was blowing above to reduce wind burn, but the girls are tall and have cleaned up bottoms. This air flow doesn't hurt them anymore and I really need to keep that circulation under there since they're so bushy. -Defoliation of every plant is going very well. Taking a bit at a time and I can now see light penetration to the soil on all girls. Not much, but open enough to allow light to pass through. A few more sessions and it will be all said and done๐Ÿ‘Œ -I see some shoots I could have taken, even after taking 11-12 last week, but I feel it's too late. Even if it's not, I would prefer to leave them be and it is what it is. I will simply have to adjust for my next grow and defo/pruning will still be another learning curve of mine. This is waaaaay better then the first and already less LARFy, but it could be better and I know that. Next time's the charm๐Ÿ‘ -I have been a little complacent with my update photos! All photos posted are end week 12 with no progression pics throughout the week. Need to up my pictures and details. -Lastly, I have a new friend that's into photography on the macro level. She loves taking shots of plant life, most of all, and also loves her cannabis. I offered to have her come over to take pictures of the girls and she agreed. Hopefully at end of week 13 or 14, there should be some much better pictures, on the macro level, showing her beauty far better then my phone can... I'm really excited about it, actually. I want to see what they look like up close, too๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘ New things I learned: -Two weeks ago, when humidity was very low, my plants started to pray and I immediately took this as a bad sign. Then I found an article to justify my concern. Though the article was right about a few things and that praying can be bad, they do NOT explain that praying is also good, pending on parameters. If your plants are praying, it's a sign of vigorous health and happiness, not a symptom of light stress/intensity. If the praying is accompanied by burning, bleaching or there's furling of leaf tips and leaflets, then yah! that's not good and is a sign that the light needs to be backed off or turned down. -Took a suggestion and have been doing a trial run with new feeding methods. It is working very well... I am no longer allowing my plants to go into complete drought. Between feedings I have started to add about 800ml to 1 liter of balanced tap (or distilled at 6.0). I may also throw the smallest amount of one or two of my supplements in, pending on what I feel her greatest needs are. It's not much but it carries her through to the next feed and with re-moistening the media, it re-activates the uptake of nutrients already in the soil. I'm finding it's helping the girl take up the essential nutrients that may be left over from the last feed that wasn't needed at the time or dried out before it could be used. When I go to do my actual feed a day or two later, the soil is very receptive to liquid and takes the feeds very well. They have stopped drooping out completely when I feed, now. This is very important to me. I didn't like the recovery time it took when the plants were subjected to 2 gallons of liquid after a few days of drought. It was almost like shocking them and I didn't like doing this... With this new method I'm testing out there hasn't been a shock to their system and they hardly droop at all, even after an additional 2 gallons thrown in. Has NOT effected RO numbers or caused any problems. I'm really liking this. Thank you kindly for stopping by and I hope all is well with you and your girls๐Ÿ‘Œ. Have a great week and we'll see you next Saturday.

leaf mutation mate,as you have probably thought yourself as well.I'm having it on 2 of my plants,I didn't see any problem caused by that thing as yields and quality are great.

Very nice! Great update, I like the good/bad/meh. I think I'll have to start doing this more on here. I keep a spreadsheet to initially jots things down. Your plants are very healthy and green all the way into early flower, perfect. Keep up the beautiful work! I also echo your thought about waking up and seeing the plants at the beginning of the day too :)

Hi Jinks Iam sure she will have some more lessons for your. But now and then i just want to say you mastered it very well. Girls look very good. But maybe you will need another Tent=? for the end of flower . we will see. But you told me you are in looking another Light.... Or have you been thinking for a SCROG=?.... I think thats the way to let them grow in this Tent. Dont forget to give them Silica for strong branches.....

@Mrs_Larimar, Hey! Thank you kindly. I'm sure she will teach me a lot more. Only half way.๐Ÿ˜‰ And I need A LOT of things and would love Iike to expand, just starting with an extra sf-1000 or 2000 for the current tent. But expenses keep coming up and I still haven't pulled the trigger on ordering yet. I will get it done and might use my blurple to supplement the extra light in flower if I can't get another in time. Eventually, I definitely want to expand to another 4x4 for scrog, absolutely. If I like LST that seems like the natural next technique to get into๐Ÿ‘. And silica? I'll look into right away. I know nothing about this yet...

@Mrs_Larimar, I'm going to have to pull my medicinal licence here, soon. I'm becoming more and more engrained in growing and I really want more to do. Not even for the product, just for a hobby. If all goes well, within 9 months I should have a different place to live (with the room and electrical requirement's) and access to 19 plants (4 recreational, 15 medicinal). I have so many plans but I need to accept that it will take time, money and resources. I want more so bad... I'm happy you have the ability to start new kids when you'd like! That must be a great feeling to wake up and be like "hmm, I think I'm going to grow "this" today", lol. Your passion has no bounds. Cheers Mrs_Larimar and thank you for stopping by. That was alooong Text...Dont wory about the low RH... hemp grows under nearly every condition. And in a few week ( 2 or 3 ) you will be so glad for your low RH. Keeping the VPD ist he Optimum..... but The weed dont know about the VPD chart so PSSSST... they will grow and get beautiful Iam sure of that. If they are drinking so fast give them 2 times a day something . Even in flower, the Medium should not be to dry. Iam praying your Estamination of hight will work...Iam having my doubts... especially for the " blue Ladies" but in wors case we go with HST and bending down.......Be prepared for some "Bindinggames" Ok last point the burned tips.... its no big thing at all, but i love unburned plants too. Before you feed, water your girls ... well . then after an hour everything is nice drained. now feed the girls . I prepare 2 mixings one is for daily watering and filled with benefical stuff , I use a 5 l Watering can. Then on feeding days, i take my 2 l wateringcan and mix the nutrients ... and give it to them after watering P.S. Girls look awsome
JinksyGrows
JinksyGrows
@Mrs_Larimar, Omg, that makes total sense. Essentially priming the soil before nutrients.... That's perfect. I now have a new feeding method to try out ๐Ÿ‘. Thanks so much. One of these things that feels like common sense but I just never thought of it....
Mrs_Larimar
Mrs_Larimar
@JinksyGrows, i do it this way because your feedings should always be into a " wet" medium... so it is everywhere the same strength. If you feed into dry medium you have " hotspots"
JinksyGrows
JinksyGrows
@Mrs_Larimar, Oh boy, yah, fingers crossed on the BC. I did not expect that kind of growth so quickly. I live I learn, but I really hope I'm not going to hurt her. Don't want to bend her, but if that's the only way, I'll do whatever it takes. Since the Blurple is less intense, I'm thinking about putting her under it @ 18", which will buy me another 6 inches of space. Again though, I'm only hoping... And I agree 100% about the VPD charts. After all, you taught me a lot about custom feeding! It works as a good benchmark but I have been circumventing some doses over 3 different feeds, strain specific. I like your info on feeding... So you use balanced tap first then follow up with nutrients after the watering? Do you do this to wash out any excess nutrients before throwing more on top? I'm still working on how I like to feed and this interests me, greatly. And finally, I would love zero burns on my leaf tips, but I have been playing with my feedings and besides the RH, this is mostly my doing and I'm starting to learn what to use and when to use it based on plant symptoms. Pushed them a little too hard though, me thinks. I have backed off and the burns are growing out, but I would like to be more careful. Two slight nitrogen toxicities in two weeks shouldn't be happening.... Thanks so much for your advice Mrs_Larimar, it's always appreciated and accepted knowledge๐Ÿ‘. And thank you for reading that novel length entry. No small task. Cheers my friend and happy grows this week๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‰

JinksyGrows
@CrankledLarkus, Hey man thanks! And my thinking too with the SCROG. Was worried about accessibility and this was the closest solution. Want to SCROG still but just one plant in a single tent kinda deal๐Ÿ‘ . And those clips, holy crap. I keep finding uses for them. About 90 in that tent ATM. Haha, serious! Used for LST in veg, Bracing off bamboo in flower and used to hang my harvest off a string line. Now using them as a precaution for light leaks while keeping accessibility. Black blanket hung on the side of tent over window and flaps. Those clips hold perfectly on the rig of the tent lip!๐Ÿ˜€. No hassle, no light leaks๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘. Sorry for rambling, I love this clips. If you find more uses for them please tell me, haha. Cheers mate and thanks again for your kind words ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘Œ

Very well done.... vegetation--- check early flowering---- check from now on the plants change drasticly... its like raising a child.. you have done everything until they are adolescent.. and then you have to let them go hahaha----- you completed the mission nearly, from now on she takes the wheel and is steering With beginning fattening up the flowers, the colors of her will change, leaves get yello, brown.. etc.. she is aging So keep her in the eyes. give her Love, attetion, nutes and water... but she does what she need to do oumann so many words for one fact
