One of my seedlings has very droopy leaves and slight taco-ing. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this? I am using Canna Coco. All fertigation notes and pictures included in diary. Thanks

12/22 - Today I set up automated watering for the girls using Hydro Halo's. Still working on getting it dialed in. The girls seem a little stressed from the transplanting, topping and Hydro Halo staking. I may have done it all a little close together. Sweet Baby James seems to be the most unhappy, which I am not too worried about as it is by far the smallest plant of the 3. Hopefully with a little TLC over the next few days they will cheer up and continue to grow as rapidly as they were before being messed with so much. Also, I recently switched to RO water from spring water, which will save me a lot of money. I wasn't aware of how sensitive RO water is to PH Down which caused some problems. I used the usual amount I was using for 5 gallons of spring water and ended up with a PH of 4.9, which I got rid of and made a new batch. Reservoir EC 1276, PH 6.1 (Mid Veg Nutes). 12/23 - Reservoir EC 1197, PH 5.8 (Mid Veg Nutes) 12/24 - Reservoir EC 1208, PH 6.0 (Mid Veg Nutes) 12/26 - Reservoir EC 1193, PH 6.0 (Mid Veg Nutes) 12/28 - Today was a bad day. My inexperience has finally caught up with me and I have officially killed Bobby Dazzler and possibly Sweet Baby James. Mainlining was going great and the girls were reacting great! This morning I tried low stress training for the first time with catastrophic consequences. The 2 new tops had become quite brittle and tore away from the main stem while I was trying to train them down. I thought I was being gentle but after some research I guess I should have warmed the stems up a little before trying to tie them down. I ran to my local hydro store to get some grafting tape (which was out of stock), by the time I got home Bobby Dazzler was horribly wilted and limp. RIP Bobby Dazzler. Sweet Baby James also suffered some minor tearing in the same spot but seems to be doing okay and hasn't wilted. Hopefully the tears will heal up and create some nice strong knuckles. Long Shanks however is a monster and had no problem being trained. She will be ready for her second topping tomorrow. Res EC 1242, PH 5.9

1/6 - The last few days have been a bit rough. I have had just about every bad symptom show up. Long Shanks, which was my strongest plant by far is showing some real bad symptoms. Deformed new growth, clawing, twisting leaves, severe tacoing/canoeing, very dark green, brittle leaves and small holes in the lower leaves. My research leads me to believe I have a nitrogen toxicity and possibly a calcium deficiency. I am using the Coco For Cannabis Nutrient Schedule Late Veg mix with 4ml of CalMag per gallon. Yesterday I reduced CalMag to 2.5ml per gallon to try to lower Nitrogen levels. I am watering 3x a day using Hydro Halo's with plenty of run off. I did go maybe 2 weeks without hand watering but have recently hand watered twice to try and get rid of any potential salt buildup. Reservoir EC 1091, PH 5.9 at 3pm. 1/7 - Reservoir EC 1204, PH 5.9 at 6:30pm. 1/8 - Sweet Baby James got her third and final topping today at 8:30am. Reservoir EC 1231, PH 5.9 at 10am. 1/10 - Reservoir EC 1170, PH 6.0 at 4pm. 1/11 -Reservoir EC 1204, PH 6.0 at 10am. The girls seem to have grown out from their bad symptoms from last week. New growth is looking pretty good and growth rate is fast. I'm thinking of flipping to 12/12 in a few days. 1/12 - Reservoir EC 1193, PH 6.0 at 5:30pm. 1/13 - Reservoir EC 1193, PH 6.1 at 11am. TODAY IS FLIP DAY! Tonight the girls will get their first 12 hours of darkness. Long Shanks has 3 nodes on all 8 heads (working on 4th nodes) and Sweet Baby James is still on her first nodes on all 8 heads, should be working on her second nodes very soon.

Do you think the girls are ready for the flip to 12/12? I am mainlining so both plants have 8 grow tips (topped 3 times). It has been a week since Long Shanks got her final topping and 3 days since Sweet Baby James got hers. (I have circled the 8 grow tips in the photos).

Let them reach the metal ring before you flip to flower, trust me I made this mistake on my last grow, gelat og. I'm sure if I'd left one more week vegging she'd be monstrous! 🌱👍😁

1/14 - Reservoir EC 1165, PH 6.0 at 6:30am. 1/15- Reservoir EC 1204, PH 6.1 at 11:30am. - Long Shanks has shown some explosive growth since the flip. Sweet Baby James is lagging behind, but she has been a slow grower throughout the entire grow. After asking around, I have been told that I should have waited a week or so longer for the 8 heads to grow more before flipping. Height is going to be a real issue during the stretch so I hope it was the right decision to flip very shortly after the girls got their third topping. I have also raised Sweet Baby James off the ground as she was much shorter and too far from the grow light. 1/17 - Reservoir EC 1170, PH 6.0 at 9:30am. 1/18 - Reservoir EC 1191, PH 6.1 at 11:00am. 1/19 - Reservoir EC 1176, PH 6.1 at 3:30pm. 1/20 - Reservoir EC 1170, PH 6.1 at 11:00am. The girls are really flourishing and seem to br growing a couple of inches daily. Will definitely be doing some supercropping this week to keep the height down and a nice even canopy. No pistils as of yet.

1/21 - Reservoir EC 1191, PH 6.2 at 5:00 pm. 1/22 - Today is supercropping day. I supercropped at 10am. The girls are really starting to stretch and were 18" from my LED with no more room to raise the light. I should have gotten a taller tent but I'm working with what I've got. The supercropping went well, I think. Definitely nerve-racking as it is my first grow and I am breaking my ladies necks haha. There were a few minor splits but I taped them up with grafting tape and think they won't be bothered by it. Looking forward to see how they recover. Reservoir EC 1176, PH 6.1 at 12:30pm. 1/23 - The girls have recovered perfectly from their supercropping. I checked this morning at lights on (20 hours after supercropping) and all the heads are back up and curling around the tie downs. Canopy looking nice and flat. 1/24 - I have added an extra light to my tent. I now have a MARS HYDRO TS1000w alongside my Vivosun 600w LED. Hopefully this will help during the flowering stage. This could possibly be overkill as I only have a small tent (just under 3’x3’). I will keep a close eye on the girls to make sure they aren’t getting too much light. 1/26 - NOOOOO! I think Sweet Baby James is a hermie!! She popped pistils recently, but from the looks of things she definitely has some male pollen sacks. I will be keeping a close eye on her. 1/26 - Reservoir EC 1053, PH 6.1 at 5:00pm 1/27 - Reservoir EC 1044, PH 6.0 at 5:00pm 1/28 - Reservoir EC 1029, PH 6.2 at 4:30pm

1/29 - After thoroughly checking Sweet Baby James, I have found no more signs of her creating suspect pollen sacks. I plucked a few and it looks like no more have grown. One may have even sprouted pistils but it's hard to know if it was once a suspect pollen sack. Sweet Baby James is pretty far ahead with flower development, she is really starting to form flowers while Long Shanks is only showing a few pistils here and there. This is the opposite to the veg stage as Long Shanks was such a rapid grower and Sweet Baby James took her sweet time throughout the entire veg stage. Long Shanks is now 14" from my MARS HYDRO TS100 with no more room to raise the light. Hopefully her stretch is finishing and being a little closer to the light than recommended won't cause any ill effects. Reservoir EC 1057, PH 6.2 at 10:00am. 1/31 - The ladies have moved house. They have grown too tall for my grow tent and Long Shanks had grown far too close to her light. I have relocated them to my closet. It seems to be a much better space for them and hopefully will work out great. As you can see from the pictures, Sweet Baby James is still pretty far ahead of Long Shanks when it comes to forming flowers. Hopefully Long Shanks speeds up a little and starts forming flowers in the next few days. 2/1 - Reservoir EC 1061, PH 6.2 at 10:30am. 2-2 - Reservoir EC 1061, PH 6.2 at 2:00pm. After another potential hermie check on Sweet Baby James, I saw what I definitely thought was a pollen sac a few days ago has now sprouted a pistil. This makes me think she is not a hermie and just has some swollen calyces. Also while checking out Sweet Baby James I noticed some burned looking tips. I doubt it is nute burn as my EC levels have been relatively low since the flip. It could possibly be Potassium deficiency as my EC levels are below the targets. I am using the Coco for Cananbis Early Bloom nutrient schedule will full doses of CalMag & Koolbloom with RO water but my EC is still hovering around 200 below the EC Target. This may be the reason for the burned tips/possible Potassium deficiency. 2/3 - Reservoir EC 1061, PH 6.2 at 11:30am. 2/4 - Reservoir EC 10291, PH 6.0 at 5:30pm. 2/5 - Reservoir EC 1057, PH 6.0 at 3:30pm.

2/6 - Reservoir EC 1061, PH 6.1 at 5:30pm. 2/7 - Reservoir EC 1061, PH 6.2 at 11:00am. - Today I did an inspection of the girls and Sweet Baby James is a confirmed hermie and the damage has been done! She has opened pollen sac's in a few different spots and released her pollen, some directly onto my fans 😐 Looks like I'm in for a seedy harvest, oh well. Long Shanks is still stretching like crazy! She is now 64" tall (5' 6"). She has at least tripled in size since the flip. She is also now starting to form some nice flowers too. 2/8 - Reservoir EC 1061, PH 6.2 at 9:00am 2/9 - Reservoir EC 1057, PH 6.1 at 10:30am 2/10 - Reservoir EC 1125, PH 6.1 at 11:00am. - Surprisingly no sign of pistils fading/shrivelling. All pistils are still white and sticking straight up. I'm praying that Sweet Baby James is shooting blanks 😉 haha. Will keep a close eye out for signs of pollination. Sweet Baby James is still growing like crazy! She's nearly at 6 feet. Over twice the size of her "sister". 2/11 - Reservoir EC 1085, PH 6.0 at 6:00am 2/12- Reservoir EC 1087, PH 6.1 at 10:30am - Pistils are still showing no signs of pollination. Now I am starting to get my hopes up that Sweet Baby James is an infertile hermie. I really hope I'm right. Long Shanks is still stretching!! She is turning into a tree and quickly running out of space in her new, much larger home. Hopefully she's about done with her insane growth spurt. I would say she has quadrupled in size since the flip, maybe more! 2/13 - Reservoir EC 1104, PH 6.1 at 6:00am

I noticed that my plant had hermied and the pollen sac's have opened and released their pollen. The stigmas on my plant are showing no signs of pollination (dying/browning). Does this mean the pollen is sterile? Has anybody lucked out with an infertile hermie before? Thanks

This is a very good question, without an easy answer. I never thought I would see it, nor did I think it existed...but I have seen fuax nanners before on a friends plant. I told him he seeded...but nothing happened. They were everywhere. Clear as day male pollen sacs but they were inert. He also had faux seeds growing all over the place. From the naked eye, it was seeding, but taking one off and checking proved it was empty. I highly suggest taking off a developed calyx from under canopy and break it open. If you have a white to brown shell forming on the inside, you're seeded. If you find a small white or green, hard speck inside (and the rest is hollow) it's not seeded and those nanners may be inert. I'm on the "silver lining" side of things and I feel that if they haven't seeded in full after 72 hours, there's no mass pistil die off and no bulbous heads growing on top of your buds....I'd lean towards faux nanners. The only worrisome part is the other girl in the tent. If you do have a seeding issue, or one is developing, segregate the other lady as soon as possible. Better to lose one then 2👍 Good luck, my friend. I really do hope it is all a false alarm👍

I was a little worried as I am pretty deep into the flowering stage and thought they may not turn back up towards the lights. The tops were so close to the lights that the risk of burning was just too high. One top was actually touching the light and got a little singed. I check this morning and they seem to be facing back up towards the light after the super cropping. Sweet Baby James has some stigma/pistil browning going on, I imagine from hermie pollination. I have been checking for early signs of seeds forming but it is too hard to tell this early. 2/19 - Reservoir EC 1104, PH 6.1 at 9:00am 2/20 - Reservoir EC 1044, PH 6.0 at 6:00am 2/21 - Reservoir EC 1104, PH 6.0 at 3:30pm

2/23 - Reservoir EC 1100, PH 6.2 at 2:00pm 2/24 - Reservoir EC 1121, PH 6.3 at 12:30pm (changed reservoir after testing). - Everything is cruising at the moment. Buds are fattening up and starting to smell very strong. Sweet Baby James is being shadowed by Long Shanks and isn't really that impressive. Long Shanks however is a beast. She's much taller than me now (I'm 6 feet) I was talking to Jinks101 on here who told me to remove and cut open a calyx to check for seeding. According to him it looks like my pollen sacs were sterile as the calyx had a small green, hard speck inside (and the rest is hollow) rather than a seed forming. Thats great news! While taking photos today I noticed one fan leaf had some rust spots on it, after having a quick look I couldn't find any other leaves with the spots. Not quite sure what is causing it and I will keep an eye on it. 2/25 - Reservoir EC 1080, PH 6.0 at 6:00am 2/26 - Reservoir EC 1129, PH 6.3 (lowered to 6.0) at 1:30pm 2/27 - Reservoir EC 1134, PH 6.1 at 6:00am 2/28- Reservoir EC 1119, PH 6.2 at 7:00am 2/29 - Reservoir EC 1201, PH 6.1 at 2:00pm 3/1 - Reservoir EC 1212, PH 6.1 at 1:30pm

3/2 - Reservoir EC 1227, PH 6.1 at 10:00am - Not much to report, buds are fattening up and smell is really starting to intensify. Space is a real issue and the closet is getting very overcrowded. Long Shanks is far too big for the space. I will be installing plant yoyo's this afternoon to help support the colas. 3/3 - Reservoir EC 1265, PH 6.1 at 6:00m 3/4 - Reservoir EC 1287, PH 6.2 at 12:30pm 3/5 - Reservoir EC 1185, PH 6.1 at 6:00am 3/6 - Reservoir EC 1189, PH 6.1 at 8:00am 3/7 - Reservoir EC 1157 PH 6.3 (lowered to 5.9) at 12:00pm 3/8 - Reservoir EC 1189, PH 6.1 at 8:30am

3/9 - Reservoir EC 1236, PH 6.1 at 10:30am - Nothing much to report. I installed some plant yoyo's as the colas were starting to get a little heavy for the fold made from the late supercropping. Sweet Baby James is totally shaded by Long Shanks now and is going to be a very small yielder. I'm thinking about 3 weeks left before harvest. 3/10 - Reservoir EC 1261, PH 6.1 at 6:30pm 3/11 - Reservoir EC 1280, PH 6.1 at 5:30pm 3/13 - Reservoir EC 1242, PH 6.2 at 12:30pm 3/14 - Reservoir EC 1182, PH 6.1 at 6:30pm 3/15 - Reservoir EC 1208, PH 6.4 (lowered to 6.0) at 11:00am 3/16 - Reservoir EC 1193, PH 6.1 at 10:00am

3/17 - Reservoir EC 889, PH 6.0 at 6:30pm (Ripen Nutes) 3/18 - Reservoir EC 929, PH 6.0 at 9:00am - Long Shanks is really getting frosty now and is starting to smell oh so sweet. Really potent! I did a thorough inspection of Sweet Baby James (which I haven't done for over a month) and found that she is producing almost no buds. "She" has been the weirdest, runty, hermie plant that I imagine I will harvest next to nothing from. I'd be lucky to get a quarter ounce from her. I have started to flush Sweet Baby James early as she is just a waste of nutrients. I should have just pulled her when I first noticed potential pollen sacks. Thankfully Long Shanks is a monster and should be a high yielder! 3/19 - Reservoir EC 908, PH 6.1 at 5:30pm 3/20 - Reservoir EC 936, PH 6.1 at 4:30pm 3/21- Reservoir EC 936, PH 6.1 at 1:30pm 3/22 - Reservoir EC 948, PH 6.1 at 10:00am 3/23 - Reservoir EC 723, PH 6.3 at 3:30pm 3/24 - Reservoir EC 723, PH 6.0 at 7:00am - We are getting very close. Starting the flush tomorrow. Some buds are getting too big and heavy for their own good and are really hanging down. Trichomes appear mostly cloudy with a few remaining clear. It is hard to get a good shot of them but some feedback would be very much appreciated. I plan on flushing for 4 days to a week.

4/1 - After 1 week of flushing I harvested Long Shanks today. Much larger harvest than I expected! 1,213 grams of top shelf buds (wet weight) and 256 grams of popcorn buds (wet weight). I haven't included Sweet Baby James in the harvest as I culled her early and will probably toss the measly, seeded yield she produced. I purchased a HerbsNow dryer that I expected to use for all of my harvest but it was completely full after loading roughly 1/4 of the harvest. This may cause me problems when drying. I trimmed all the buds off the stems as I didn't think I would be hang drying. I raced out to the hardware store and purchased a hanging mesh closet organizer for the other 3/4 of my harvest. Hopefully it dries okay using that in my grow closet. I tossed the popcorn buds in a paper bag as I will just be using them to make oil/edibles. Looking forward to seeing how they dry and getting the dried weight.  4/6 - Everything is dried and in jars with Boveda 62% humidity packets for curing. Dry weight 317 grams. 263 grams of top shelf buds and 54 grams of popcorn buds. After trimming/jarring there was a whole bunch of trichome heads on the table I was using. They melted between my fingers with almost no pressure and made a beautiful hand rolled hash. Very clear headed, energetic effects with great euphoria from the hash. Made made me very talkative and really want to go on a hike. Very happy with the hash high, looking forward to trying the flower. I will be curing for at least a month before testing the flower in my vaporizer. Very happy with my first ever grow!
