Sour Stomper (4)
Genetics: Grape Stomper OG x Sour Crack F5
Cycle time: (60-65d)
Size: (20-28")
Yield: (60-80g)
Had some issues germinating seeds in Jiffy pellets recently, so trying these using the paper towel/baggie method.
12/8 (G0) - 4 seeds put in paper towel to germ.
12/10 (G2) - 3 of 4 have tails. Transplanted all to Jiffy pellets to complete germination/sprout. The Jiffy pellets will be planted directly into the final pots.
Feed for this crop will be:
Mega Crop
Sweet Candy
Bud Explosion
Recharge
Mammoth P
Been reading so much good about Recharge and Mammoth P, will be adding these beneficial microbes to the garden.
FRI 12/13 (DAY 1)
Transplant 3xSour Stompers into final pots. Largest/healthiest into 6.6 gal pot. Other 2 into 5.3gal pots. Will top one of the 5.3gal ladies if possible for comparison.
12/14 (DAY 2)
All 3 have survived the transplant and sprouted permanent leaves. Plain water with 2ml/gal Hydroguard added used @ transplant and a small amount again today.
DAY 6
Wetted medium with 21oz
Recharge 1tsp/gal
MegaCrop 2g/gal
Hydroguard 2ml/gal
DAY 8
Off to a bit of a slow start, but looking good. Although this is Day 8, #3 was the first to sprout and has always been ahead of her sisters. She's in a 25L pot and putting out some leafy solar panels.
#1 is very healthy, although behind her sister(#3) in the larger pot. Both #1 and #2 are in 20L pots. #2 is twisted looking.
All are a bit weak stem-wise. Added Silica Blast to the feed and aimed fan so its affecting the "canopy" as it had been pointed skyward for air circulation only.
Plan is to top one of the ladies in the 20L pots and do a side by side comparison with the non-topped sister. Will also compare the results from the 2 different sized pots.
These should start exploding soon, once the microbes get established.
12/23 (DAY 11)
****************************************
Changing light cycle to 24/0 to aid in maintaining temps in the tent during winter.
****************************************
#3 is in a 6.3 gallon pot. She probably has a 1 day advantage on the others as she was first to sprout.
She was topped on D20 after the 5th node. She's going to be a monster.
Big pots grow big plants.
Week 4
All are green and healthy. Growing vigorously. The biggest of 6 on the tent was topped and is in a 6.3gal pot. The next largest is a different (small) strain that is 5 days younger but was ALSO topped.
In the tent photo, the rear center and the 2 front corners are Sour Stompers. They are 5 days ahead of the 3x 24Carats they share the tent with.
DAY 27
Looking healthy.
Will start Mammoth P and Bud Explosion at next feed.
WEEK 5
3 incredibly different looking plants:
#1 (left) - is tallest of all @ 27". She is lanky with very little branching and few fan leaves. She is developing flower sites all over her thin structure.
#2 (right) - is nearly just half as tall @14" but has a much more normal structure. She I s short and bushy and very healthy.
#3 (center) - was topped above the 5th node @D18 and had been a beast. She looks just an imch or so shorter the her lanky sister (#1), but that is deceiving as she is in a larger volume pot which is already taller to begin with... making #1s growth that much more impressive. She is furthest along in flower and remains healthy looking.
Start week 6
#1 her entire top 8" is a single stem with no branches. The nodes are just single leaf stems with flowers forming at the main stalk... all the way up. Maybe she will stack on an impressive main cola.
#3 is a beast and the most mature. Her buds are starting to noticeably swell. She has 10 nice cola branches of similar height that are forming buds along their length. Starting to fill in also.
#2 has been 2 days behind from the start. She is vey healthy, but her timeline is 2 days less mature and still growing vertically.
DAY 50
Getting very frosty. Light intensity is 45k+ lumens. These have an open structure with minimal leaf growth. Starting to smell like sweet grape candy.
DAY 52
Base feed strength of MegaCrop has been increased to 4g/gal.
These have generally been getting fed the full compliment of nutes/supplements, usually at a slightly diluted rate. They have shown mag deficiency the entire time and have responded to Epsom and GLN CalMag
#1 is a mess, and has been that way her entire existence. She has hardly any branches and only leaves creating flowering nodes on the main stem. Her leaves are dark and burnt. The sparce amount of buds she has, have a wonderful grape smell. She was fed microbes only to help flush the soil of any excess nutes.
#3 is getting heavy and some branches need support. She will yield well and is forming some dense fragrant buds. Trimming her will be easy as her bud to leaf ratio is very good. The biggest, earliest gal in the largest pot.
#3 is the control of the bunch. She has classic xmas tree dominant main cola structure. She is doing well and should be a fair representation of strain average.
(DAY 57)
Wow. Such different individuals here.
#1 has been freakish from the start. She's 7" taller than the high estimate of 20-28" for this strain. Shes a single stem with little to no branching. Her budsites are where the leaves attach to the stem. Buds are very hard and have the sweet but pungently sour grape smell. She has multiple deficiencies and has been let to live with zero expectations.
#3 has buds on her 10 colas that are weighing so heavy that the branches cannot support them. These had to be re-tied to keep them upright. These are VERY dense and greasy looking with a very delicious grape smell. Bud to leaf ratio is incredible on her.
#2 is healthy and green with the xmas tree single dominant cola structure. She should fill in nicely and yield on the high end of the estimate for this strain.
DAY 58
Laying on a thick coating of trichromes.
DAY 61
Chopped #3 (and #1).
The big girl had such heavy and dense buds on her many branches that they were falling over. For fear of damage, and to preserve those sweet grape terpenes, harvested #3 @D61.
Buds are so sticky and dense. Gave her a good wet trim and loaded these into the HerbsNow dryer for its maiden voyage. These look and smell so good, hoping this is not a mistake.
Harvested #1 as well. Despite being the tallest gal in the tent, she will likely not produce more than 15g. The others in the tent will appreciate the extra space that this harvest provides.
#2 (control) is healthy and will go another couple of weeks.
UPDATE ON HerbsNow dryer:
Despite adding a shotglass of water to slow the dry, after 24 hrs in the dryer I thought things were progressing too fast so turned the dryer off and allowed buds to sit and redistribute moisture for 12 hrs.
Next day, turned it back on for 8hrs and when i checked, my buds were severely over dry.
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!
The Big gal yielded 121g of terpless bud. Her freaky sister 10g.
Total dry bud WASTED =131g
The good news is that #2 was not chopped. She still smells good, but will yield only 50g or so.
DAY 66
With the loss of her sisters due to experimenting with drying, she was saved because she was less mature. Feeling lucky to have her. She still has white pistils and healthy leaves. Letting her go as long as she's healthy and continues maturing.
DAY 70
She's smelling sweet and is so dense and chonky. These flowers are heavy with resin.
Taking main cola down tomorrow.
Took the last gal down on Day 72
Main cola in fridge for Low&Slow. Remai der hanging in tent.
********UPDATE ON MyHerbsNow
10 Days curing after thinking these buds were ruined, the big Sour Stomper is getting sweet again.
After chopping the big gal and a near disaster drying her in the HerbsNow dryer (2 days- yikes), this has now been jarred up @ a stable 62% for 2 weeks and has become the "go to" smoke. Very mild fruity smell/flavor and a good strong high.
#3 was chopped @Day 72. Main cola is drying Low&Slow in the fridge and remainder was hung and dried in tent as usual. 5 days in and this is @ 38°/53%. Plant material still has lots of moisture.
Now after 5 days drying, the material from the tent has been de-limbed and put in a large curing jar to equalize humidity. After 12 hrs, 72%. Continue open air drying.
She was fast with dense buds and a great leaf to bud ratio. That's the trifecta. Add to that the grape-y goodness in both smell and taste and its no wonder this is my favorite strain.
I have used a reversed Sour Stomper as a pollen donor for several test strains. Check out my diaries for Sour Grapes and Purple Stomper. Both are being taken to F2 during the next breeding season (outdoor-seasonally).
@raptor65, Thanks man! I started using Recharge this run and my garden is thriving. Topped the 2 in the middle and it didn't slow them down a bit... they're the biggest in the tent.
You're plants look like thier doing really well, I'm also doing a Mephisto genetics strain - Auto S.O.D.K . I've defoliated it and it's doing pretty well tbf. Its pre flowering/ pre flower stretching. Happy growing
