Northern light seeds from Cannabis Seeds USA. Received seeds 9-9 and used paper towel method for 2 seeds. Planted both in small seedling pots. Used Fox Farm soil. Initial light was a 60W CFL bulb. Within week converted to 150W round LED light. Growing in 20 X 48 X 63 tent. First grow attempt!!!
One of the two plant died and had to germinate a second plant. Feeding with Fox Farm nutrient schedule. First plant transplanted to a 3 gal pot and second plant started in a 5 gal grow bag. Switched to the 250W Vipra light.
Trimmed lower leaves and started training plant to lay down. Second smaller plant topped. Went back to 150W LED. Seen lots of yellow leaves and curling leaves. Also started up exhaust fans to bring the temp in the grow tent down. 6 inch fan and a 4 inch fan. No filter at this time, no stink. Picture is from 3 weeks old. Site wouldnt let me save the week without a picture.
First plant is growing like wild. Trimmed some of lower leaves again. Not much of buzz from them :( Continued with LST. Moved everything into 24 X 24 X 60 grow tent.
Buds are starting to really fill out. Stayed with the same feed/water schedule. Also using Fox Farm Tiger Bloom and Grow Big as instructions directed. Second smaller plant is making buds. Trim the bas of the larger plant, had some dead and dying stuff on it. Worked on spreading out the branches to the lower vegetation can also get lights. For my first grow it looks amazing!
These plants are on auto cruise now. Water/feed them every other day but as dry as the soil is getting might have to start giving them a little extra and water them daily.
As my first grow I am learning a lot and one thing I am realizing is a 24 X 24 tent is perfect for 1 plant done right. The older plant I LST to grow sideways where about the hight of a pack of smokes it bends at a 90 degree angle and then trained it to grow to the edge of the pot and then follow the curve of the pot. This resulted in many more buds than the younger plant that is just growing straight up.
Started adding Micro Bloom and Beastie Bloomz to the feed mixture. Wanting to fatten up the buds. Plants are doing great, figure a couple more weeks to go. Will start using cha ching next week.
Added some pictures up close of the buds. Getting very frosty.
I planted these seeds early September and thought for sure they would have been in the drying stage by now but it looks like a few more weeks to go. Added Beastie Bloomz and Cha Ching to the mix and the buds are really getting heavy. None of them are showing any dark hairs yet so still a few more weeks before harvest and drying yet it looks like its going to be a great crop for my first grow in over 30 years :)
I wanted to try some for the holidays so one of the real low branches I cut off and gave a quick drying to. From the buzz from that this is going to be an awesome harvest.
11-26 Made a huge goof. I believe it was too much cha ching. Plant was seriously stresses and killed many fan leaves. Bottom of plant still looks strong but top of a few cola's might be seriously screwed. When I realized what was going on put the plant in the tub and gave it a thorough flush with lots of fresh water.
The older of the two plants there was no saving. It got bad nute burn and even a flushing didnt help much. Cha Ching is some potent shit. Harvested it and got some nice buds from it. The other plant Is doing good and has another week or two before she is done. Keeping a close eye on her.
This second plant is coming along real strong. I decided that for now on nutrient feeding will be done once a week and only water for the rest of the week.
I looked at the buds tonight with a 60X glass and the trichomes are still very clear. Maybe one or two starting to show any sign of cloudyness so she still has a few weeks to go.
With the buds picked a week ago because of nute burning the plant, they produce a good head high with no couch lock to speak of. Very energetic buzz.
I would think this plant would be ready to harvest by now but nope, looked at the trichomes and they are still clear with no real signs of brown hairs in the buds yet. Give it another week.
It is under a 450 lamp now in a bigger tent. The new lamp has a veg and flowering switch on it so I hope it will be better for the plants than the other light.
Watering her ever other day and feeding nutes once a week.
Growing has come a long way since I was a kid planting bag seeds on the side of a field 30+ years ago. I learned a lot from this grow and Northern Lights was very forgiving to all my mistakes.
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, For a small grower like me, one plant at a time is about perfect. I have a 36 X 20 X 72 tent that I will use if I grow two plants at a time in the future.
I'm sorry to hear about your nutrient burn. I've personally never used Fox Farms powdered nutrients for flowering as I've heard mixed reviews about them but other than that I've noticed you've been getting some pretty nice results here with them. I use the entire dirty dozen line up minus the wholly mackerel so if you ever want to talk about nutrient ratios or anything I'm happy to share anything and everything bud. Happy growing. Cheers!
Hi mate, I looked at your plants, they look so beautiful. Well done. I will be happy if you look at my diary and tell me your opinions. Have good harvest. 😊👋
Dude northern lights is a 95% Indica Strain not 100% Sativa Be careful
Nice plant otherwise maybe if you have probleme with fertilizer you should use lower dosage :)
