Trying a bigger pot in my space to see how it goes. I've got very little head height so normally stick to 8l pots but these genetics deserve space and I've been looking forward to putting this seed in the ground. All the grape genetics seem really frosty.
Week 1 down and off to a good start.
This plant is really going for it. I'm pleased because I've been most looking forward to this strain. I made a mix of about 45% perlite for extra aeration and I think that's what is making the difference in speed of growth.
Struggling a little bit with humidity now that it's much colder outside. 45% is fine for my flowering plant but id prefer to see it up at 60%.
No sign of preflowers yet so I hope it continues to veg for awhile.
Slight bit of leaf curl could be from too much light early on but it doesn't seem to be affecting her much.
Plant is really shooting along. Could be the genetics or could be the 50% perlite mix. Either way the genetics of this plant look gorgeous and I can tell it's going to be a big healthy plant. Such vigorous sturdy shoots. It seems to be growing a couple of inches a day.
Started some LST around day 15 which is the earliest I've ever needed to. Plant is already bigger than my AvT which is two weeks ahead.
Cotlydons are starting to yellow so I'll add some grow feed in next water.
Photos show day by day growth.
Update:
Solid week of growth. Love this plant. Very open structure and plenty of vigor. Been tying it down all week and its looking a great size for 21 days. Still won't go into flower proper for at least a couple of weeks so should have bushed out by then.
Quite a number of new tops filling the canopy.
Humidity in my flat has been really low so the tent is hooked up with hanging wet towels which is holding the RH at around 45%. Not as high as id like it but the best I can do.
Plant is coming along nicely. Lots of bud sites and per-flowers appearing this week. Such a nice open structure to this plant and has responded to training perfectly.
End of week 4 and trichs starting to appear on leaves. Already detecting that unique grape smell. Unlike any strain ive grown before.
Will start feed this week as think it could do with a bit of grow nutes.
Plant still chugging along. Noticed some bronze mark on leaves. Any suggestions? Could be a pH issue but think it's less likely in soil. Plant is sitting a good distance away from light. Which leaves a possible P def or other micro nutrient. Seeing similar on other plant though so I'm not sure.
Plant is still stretching slightly so transitioned the nutes over. Looking forward to watching this one put on some weight.
Seeing some burn marks on leaves this week. It's not nute burn though starting in middle of leaves. Do see some stripes between the veins so I'm thinking it could be Mag or K perhaps. It might slow after the nutes start to break down in the soil a bit.
I think she's still been stretching a little bit this week. Buds seem to have filled in a little bit but still mostly getting height.
Humidity is really low with the cold weather outside. Struggling to keep it above 35% in tent and canopy temps have dropped to 22c.
Healthy plant besides the yellowing. Hope it clears up this week.
Been a pretty bad week for this one. Had been going so well. Started seeing K and Mag def so upped the feed which lost another 3 days and then my new ph meter arrived and I realised the run off was at 5.7. My old ph pen was a whole point off.
A lot of leaves have got burnt up hard. I gave a complete flush and a balanced feed of nutrients. Not completely convinced it's stopped. And I've just noticed some bronze stripes on the top of the buds.
Finally got the girl back on track. Lot of lessons there. First being make sure your ph pen is actually working properly.
Deficiencies detailed in the pictures.
All deficiencies have stopped advancing now but she took a beating and looks ravaged. After a good flush of 3x the pot and then fed with a balanced feed, little PK boost and 2tsp Epsom salt she's not lost any more leaves in over a week.
Couldn't have come at a worse time than week 7 and the buds are looking pretty fluffy now at the end of week 8. We'll see if they bulk up any more over the next couple of weeks but I feel this might just have to be lesson learned.
Not really sure what she's doing now.
After recovering from issues last week she's remained fairly static. I'm sure she's doing something but there's no rapid growth. She did well in veg so hopefully she'll yield something worth the time.
Safe to say the buds on this one won't get any bigger now. Haven't seen much swell in awhile. Smells good and has plenty of frost. Clearly a great strain with good structure and vigorous growth. Human errors affected yield.
Very almost ready for the chop. About 5-10% amber now but I've got a new digital scope arriving so will wait for that before chopping.
The ph issues around week 7 really set this plant back but she pulled through. Some lessons to learn there. Make sure your shit works. The buds did bulk up a little bit but not much. The calyxes are really small without too much swell.
Not the strongest smelling plant but definitely quite a unique smell.
Had some serious PH issues with this plant, as recorded. Real shame because this strain puts out the frost with no effort every time. Grows very vigorously in veg. End result is still seriously covered in trichs but it just never produced any weight.
The structure of this plant was definitely one of the best I've grown. It was in almost 50% perlite 50% soil and just took off from the start. Loads of side branches which were all heavily LST'd and gave off lots of new tops which shot for the light. Broken PH pen meant that I had trouble diagnosing loads of different deficiencies, but at least they were fixed and the buds are seriously sugary. Should have had a much higher yield and gutted my other seed turned out to be a dud.
The plant didn't have a strong smell growing or hanging up. It's been in the jars for a couple of weeks and more smell is coming out. Definitely a slightly fruity and earthy smell, and the same when smoked. First strain in a while that's got me coughing. High comes on quickly and is quite cerebral. Occasionally intense. Made me quite fidgety but also very talkative.
@Simon, Thanks man. Appreciate the heads up. Mine seems to be handling it alright for now. Low salts in my nutes. We'll see how it looks over the next week.
@ForestGreen,advance sensi A B and sensi carbload iam flushing now but they dont like nutes the only thing i can advise is just feed once in a while at half strength ive got one that just stopped due to nutes good luck friend try to keep them on the light green side
@Simon, Thanks for the heads up man. Solid advice. Seems to me it's a very sensitive strain. I use organic nutes so less risk of salt build up etc but I'll keep an eye on it. What nutes are you using?
@ForestGreen, well i popped 4 seeds, 4 mutants. I've looked a bit on the net and found a few runt. They are usually stable, but I guess a bad batch happens to everyone !
@Yogsothoth, oh really? I expected it to be pretty stable from Mephisto. Not that mutations aren't possible but you know. Thanks for the heads up on the heat. It does seem slightly sensitive. Quite hard for me to lower it much more because it's mostly infrared because I've got no height. Best I can do is move it away from the light, but I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks.
@Yogsothoth, Yeah you think that's mag do you? There's definitely stripes between the leaves but the burn instead of subtle yellowing made me think it's a bit of K too. Think it's slowed since the last feed.
@biggreens420, thanks mate. Yeah for sure. Funny how some autos start putting out pistils really early. Pleased to see this one shooting up in every branch. Probably still a couple of weeks before it goes into flower.
Yes iam growing them now along with toof decay its a very easy plant to grow , it drips with resin like you wouldnt believe its the frostiest strain ive ever grown and a mind numing high👍
