This grow I am going to do it differently. I am going to do day tracking instead of date tracking.
I am using using pre-grown ( two grows ago) Coco mix with nature suppers soil to experiment with reusing grow medium.
The pots are 5 gallon air pots. I have never used these before so we will see. The 1st take on them that they are very messy compared to fabric pots.
Once established, I will be using half strength Advanced Nutrients for Coco since these are autos.
Day 1 - 3 Seeds soaked overnight and were put directly into the 5 gallon pots. I pre-soaked the Coco with 5ml/gallon Clonex and covered the seeds with a mason jar.
Day 2 - Temp stayed around 78 all day with me going in and out of the tent looking for a sprout. Nothing yet. 😀 Kept the Coco moist under the jar.
Day 3 - Nothing popping
Day 4 - Two have popped.
Day 5 - One did not pop so I put another seed in
Day 6 - The little ones are growing up. It brings a tear to my eye. 😥
Day 7 - The replaced seed looks to be comming up.
Day 13 - Not having much luck with the extra seeds that were planted. One of them shot straight up and the top leaves did not develop very good. We will have to see what is up. The other two are doing fine and I planted one more since another one did not start. Also lowered the light to 24"
Day 14 - The girls are loving the lowered lights.
Day 18 - The initial two are looking strong and thinking about topping once. I am going to post a question about this. Both of the other seeds have popped and hope they do well.
Day 19 - I topped one of the two thriving girls. I want to have a side by side comparison with the same seeds and grow. I also made sure each one was under the middle of the light.
Day 21 - The girls are doing great. The pots are still super moist. I am going to let them dry out a little more, then I will water with PH and Cal-Mag only before flower nutes.
I am 3 weeks from auto seeds in the ground. What do you think about me topping these girls'? I do not what to stress them much, but they seam to be growing well. 💪
High roller pretty much hit the nail on the head. Not knowing when she'll flip is the problem. We have little control over how and when autos will decide it's their "time". Most auto growers depend solely on LST to achieve their results and get higher yeilds. I use these same techniques with photo periods and it works very, very well. Ii IMO and only IMO, I would not top. Can't and won't tell you not to top, but I would suggest giving her a bend instead. Exposing lower growth to air and light will help it shoot up and become another main top.
Reference: I used auto training methods on my current 'Blue Cookies" grow. No topping, just pure LST and the results are clear as day. I did this to show you didn't have to top photos either and still get the same, if not better, results. I take progression photos and you can check out the early weeks of that diary to see the bends I made and what I'm talking about👍. Wether you choose to top or now, LST is and would be a great addition to your grow space/techniques. Very little work for very high payoffs.

Day 23 - I was out of town and my humidifier ran dry. My VDP jumped way up and now I am getting it back in control.
Watered each pot 2 cups of only cal-mag.
Working on getting the automation dialed in on this grow. Learning everyday.
The topped girl is doing great and looking so strong.
Day 25 - I watered too much and the girls are suffering. I am going to give them a great dry out for a couple days. My VDP is around 1 so my temp and RH is good.
Day 26 - Took some pics today. The little ones are growing slow but growing. Checked soil moisture and still super moist about 1/2 way down. Will give it a couple more days before feeding. The older girls started flowering.
Day 27 - growth has been a little slow due to overwatering (I think).😕 I did some defoliation since it is just starting to flower. I sure hope they get their stretch on! I topped one of the young ones tonight.
It has been 5 days since last pictures. The growth is way slow on these girls. I think is problem it with the soil. I used some from an organic grow that had COCO and Natures Soil in it. I think there is too much nitrogen in it. I will not do that again.
Day 32 - I have 4 of these going 2 of them are at day 32 one at 25 and one at 21. I have not been watering to much since they are not drinking a bunch. That stinks cause I want to feed them. Two days ago I fed them only low food supplements because of the soil. In a couple days I will give s good dose of flower food.
3/6/2020 - These girls are doing very good. Two of them are about 2 weeks ahead of the other two. I will be flushing the two older ones in about 1 week.
3/15/2020- I have started the flush on 2 of the girls. I am using Finial Flush with 1/2 gallon per plant. The other two I gave a nice feeding since they have a couple more weeks to go.
3/20/2020 - Looked at the trichomes today and I will be chopping 2 in two days.
3/23/2020 - Harvested one girl today 127 grams wet at huge dense buds. Will harvest another tomorrow and the other 2 will be a couple more weeks.
3/25/2020 - Harvested another today at 112 grams.

With the seeds that popped at the same time, I topped one at 3 weeks and left the other one. Super strong genetics as the stem is massive compared to my last grows.

I would advise starting quite young at around node 5 with the topping. Training can be started now 👍
