This is a new diary for a White Widow clone, from Crop King’s genetics. My experience with Crop King’s White Widow includes an autoflower before GrowDiaries which was nice, and White Widow Clone 2019 which is one of my all time best grows. It started similar to this one, a gifted clone that had sustained damage. Damage is less visible to the reader as I’ve cleaned it up (as did recovery time). If you have read any of my diaries from the last six months I outlined a massive battle against pests. My friend who gifted me this plant had it even worse. He battled with spraying, predatory mites, and ladybugs. His tent seems to be back in order .... but there is still the risk of taking anything from him. We shall see if there are any stowaways. This thing has spent time being ravaged, and then regrew, and now its mine.
My lighting is a 300 actual watt full spectrum LED with 1/6th of that again in a smaller pod. I recently had to divert my furnace heating into my veg. tent and install a thermostat. For now it has come in a container of HP Pro Mix, and Myke Herbs and Vegetables mycorrhizae.
Day 106 for this White Widow clone. See my small anecdote at the origin for why its so old and now recovered. This thing has been a small little beauty since I received it. I decided to transplant it, and it had plenty roots. I am pairing this up with a clone and will be quick to to into flower, can’t wait.
My soil amendment mix was primarily: 30 HP Pro Mix: 5 Fox Farms Happy Frog: 5 worm castings: 2 ASB Greenworld Sheep Manure Compost: 2 ASB Greenworld Black Earth: 2 ETI Greenhouse Gold Seafood Compost: 1 Blood and Bonemeal pellets: 1 Green Gaia mineralized phosphate (guano): 1 alfalfa meal compost: 1 pulverized egg shells; and Myke Herbs and Vegetables mycorrhizae.
I’ve had recent problem with amendment so I diluted a very small amount, and I layered it more. That is, the hot mix filled the bottom and middle, while I mostly filled the top with HP Pro Mix. This plant was already nice and green anyway, but lots of water upcoming to balance the nutes.
Day 113 since being cloned for this White Widow clone of origin outside of my tents. I had transplanted and things are looking good. I think the plant was waiting to take on some new nutrients and space and responded. The colour changes have been nice. It may be on the verge of excess but I would also describe it as lush. I find Crop King’s White Widow variety had nice distinguishable fan leaves. I sort of buried the main stem so I’m not really able to show thickness. Just time and water. Looking good.... hitting its stride!
Day 120 since White Widow was cloned. I alluded to the long history before I even received the plant. She is gorgeous now. There is something about the characteristic White Widow leaf structure, I love it. Nothing to say but just vegging away and using soil amendment. Water only. My only critique as was with other grows with White Widow, the branching is fine and thin. I wish it grew in more massive, sturdy, main branches. I’m not complaining 🤷♂️🏻
Day 127 since White Widow was cloned. Everything is chugging along. Tons of green and I am just constantly topping and trimming. I wouldn’t even say I am a huge supported of cutting your plants, but I have no other choice in terms of space and time delay. This plant itself has been really shoved to the side. It is in need of the flowering window which will start in a week. Its been five in that big pot with great growth so it will be ready. Just water. May I say White Widow is my favourite looking strain in terms of morphology.
Day 131 since White Widow was cloned in its long history ago. Quick update as it is moving into flower this weekend. My assessment is spindly branches, typical for Widow in my experience, lots of dark green, and potential phosphorous deficiency (purple stems). I will allow it to use all the of the amendment before I feed anything, so I will allow it to suffer a bit longer with this state.
I thought I would have time to clone, but I didn’t really. I unfortunately through all trimmings away, ahh well I have plenty of plants. After photos I chopped anything I didn’t think would make it through the dense canopy of my flowering tent.
Overall, excited!
Day 138 since being cloned. One week of flowering complete, seven weeks to go. Despite being totally crowded out by Green Crack 2019, White Widow is stretching for light. I’ve only given water. I’m disappointed with how purple the stems are. Yes, it will get phosphorous soon, but it showed signs very quickly as it transitioned to flower. This is not its peak, so far.
The lighting in flower is two 300 watt full spectrum LEDs identical to my veg. tent, 96 watts of yellow LED bulbs specifically to supplement the big boys, and two 50 watt custom made bulbs of mix spectrum of LEDs (I only have an estimate of spectrum). The tent is my standard hung mylar.
Day 145 for White Widow. Two weeks of flowering complete, six weeks to go. Looking good. I will say this plant is getting crowded out. It will be somewhat alleviated in one week. Stretch is going to end and the buds are really going to start forming so it will be time for plant food soon (next irrigation). Both angles in the group shot at the end.
Day 152 since cloning White Widow. Three weeks of flowering complete, five weeks to go. I am on alert! This plant is likely screwed. I had a late flowering plant really bite the dust, which revealed I still am being much too liberal with soil amendment. So, it is very likely White Widow still has much more to access. I will try to be liberal with water and hope for the best. Also, I won’t give food with nitrogen. Earlier this week I gave 0-10-10 Alaskan Morbloom with blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag) and Earth Alive Big Blue Wave. I am cutting out the last product completely as I am paranoid and need to not risk salts or minerals. I also changed my flowering tent back to 12/12. The shorter flowering time did quicken the start of flower, but wasn’t worth the losses in yield. I would say the bud sites and branches are very small so I have limited expectations.
Day 159 since White Widow was cloned. Four weeks of flowering complete, four weeks to go. Its too bad this one has been crowded out. I have to assume its small stature has really limited White Widow. It also took awhile to finally get a healthy leaf vein fade going. Looks beautiful, but believe me everything is small. This one is due plant food tomorrow.
Day 166 for White Widow. Five weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. If if weren’t for size (yield), this would be rocking a 10/10. I like the slow leaf fade, even that could he more advanced. I love the fluffy pistils, and the slow orange creep. Nice dank, musky smell. Just a bit small. It got water today and will dry out to get its last feeding. I recently got heavy rains, that and flushing, and so my humidity is jacked at the moment.
Day 173 since White Widow was cloned. Six weeks complete, two weeks to go. Really nice orange coming in, and the leaves look healthy. If I had of managed soil amendment better I would have more leaf fade by now and bigger buds. I suspect what I get, though small, will be good. The smell is musty, musky, dank. I am in the process of flushing away with water.
Day 180 for White Widow. Seven weeks of flowering complete, one week to go. I’m still flushing with water as I await the end. Unsure if I will do another update so this may be the last look. I didn’t get leaf fade, or giant nugs, but the frosted up nicely.
Day 185 since White Widow was clone. Eight weeks of flowering complete, and we are here! I am still flushing and usually give the plant around 24 hours of dark before harvest. Looking good!
I give the plant a little extra time in dark before harvest. More trimming that most strains. I budwashed before hanging to dry. Dip and swirl in a container of baking soda, lemon juice, and water; dip and swirl in container of water; hang.
