The wonderful people over at Ripper Seeds sent me a sample of their award winning Zombie Kush to grow for everyone here on Grow Diaries. The seeds were shipped discretely. The seeds were in an airtight vial with packing to reduce damage from movement with desiccant spheres inside of a resealable foil ziplock seed pack with some gnarly graphics. They even sent a key lanyard. Thanks again Ripper! Zombie Kush is a 20%sativa 80%indica hybrid. Zombie Kush is the result of an elite clone of Lavender Kush x Ripper Haze which was then pollinated by Bubba Kush. 11/22 day 4 my General has arrived! His first officer Lt. Kush has yet to report for duty. Their rockwool bunks have been kept moist and at 78F. 11/23 Lt. Kush arrives.

TOP SECRET General Ripper has ordered Lt. Kush to begin construction of a camouflaged, hidden base deep within the Taz Jungle. Very little is known about the base or its location. However, it is rumored the base will have a “living camouflage” allowing it to remain virtually undetectable. Lutenant Kush has reported Phase I which included the location and construction of the bunker are completed. General Ripper has confirmed this and has ordered construction of the camouflage canopy. Phase II is expected to take 3-5 weeks. The General replied “no comment” when asked about the offensive and defensive capability of the base. 11/29 Lutenant Kush reports that the rigid support for the camouflage has been erected.

The general and lutenant are pushing for a full canopy. The general is developing the 3rd node while the lutenant works on her second node. Both have nice color.

General Ripper is beginning secondary camouflage (branches) so I super cropped her to invigorate the side branching. She will likely be supercropped on a daily basis until her radial branches are the height of the main top. Lutenant Kush is pushing up her third node. The general is not saying as of yet what the bases defensive or offensive capabilities might be “let’s just concentrate on the camouflage “ was the generals reply when asked. Day 27 during a routine super cropping session the General decided she wanted to be topped. So with a loud pop it was over. General topped above 4th node, lutenant topped above 3rd node.

An attack on the zombie base was thwarted. The dreaded brown algae invaded the tank! The general ordered the roots be cleaned in filtered pH’d tap water. Additionally, the general ordered a full investigation as to the cause and recommendations for prevention. The consultant used a camera inside the closed tank to detect light leaks. There was a laser light show inside the tank. The light was entering through the net pots. A net pot was overfilled with small diameter Leca clay and the net pots were still leaking light. Next the upper 2 inches of the net pot were blocked with black duct tape. The light through the net pots persisted!!!!! The recommendation ultimately provided was to cover the top of the net pots while allowing air flow to reduce the likelihood of mold (mould). Two piece net pot canopies were manufactured and installed with a 15mm clay ball below the center edges. Other than the competition for oxygen I don’t think there was any damage to the zombies. 12/21 it appears that aggressive veg is on the horizon.

They added another 3” this week. I plan on switching to flower any day now. They have really done well for the past two weeks. Beautiful growth tips and great leaves! 1/3/18 day 46 the general is ready to flower and isn’t about to wait for a Lutenant! Cleaned up the growth some and leveled the canopies. Tomorrow will be day one of flower.

Welcome to the beginning of flower! This’ll be one crowded tent! I have lowered the base nutrients and the nitrogen boost. I will be super cropping and trying to even up the canopy the best I can. The lutenant has a lot of work to do! The General says she will fill the whole tent if the lutenant doesn’t get on the ball. 1/5/18 lowered TDS to 600.

The General has filled the remainder of the tent. She truly exemplifies “be all you can be”. When I started this grow I was really worried about the space constraints of the 2x2x4’ tent. But the zombies have excelled at filling up the space. I’m excited to see some real g/w and g/sqft numbers. I’ve installed a RO system and will be using it going forward. This is my second Ripper Strain (on my sixth and seventh Acid Dough) expect to see a lot more of them from me!

Day 15 of flower I figure what I have now in height is about all I will get. I supercroped the tallest and added a screen to get some separation. 1/24/18 lots of new tip burn today so I started her on week 4 nutes 3.5ml/g bases and 2ml/g Bud-XL (carbs and sugars). Next week I will probably bump the Bud-XL up to the week 5 but not add the top Booster until near the end of next week.

With the camouflage completely in place the order has been given to erect the top secret weapons. These weapons will be chemical capable of turning enemies exposed to the toxic chemicals into instant zombies.

Its on now! The budlets are developing very well. Even some of the fan leaves are covered in trichs. The General has really come through with filling up the tent. Since the lutenant is so small and likely will take longer to ripen I may let her go to seed.

The General has ordered the extended weapons (tall tops) be retracted (super cropped) back to the stealth (canopy) position (level). I am really amazed at the vigorous growth of the flowers. She probably has 3-4 weeks left to put on some weight. I’ve used supercrop to level up the canopy to take advantage of the light. Kudos to Ripper for this one! She is pushing out the Trichs. The upper stems are even covered as well as many fan stems. I think I wanna leave her fans on and make some dry ice hash. I know Ripper was awarded for resin so I’d hate to waste it.

I decreased the magnesium and added a PK Booster. My thoughts are about the late flower yellow that since magnesium is mobile and potassium blocks the uptake of magnesium that dosing them with magnesium the week before the PK Booster might be something. Don’t know if you don’t try! 🤓 She has a great trunk almost 2.5cm!

The Trichs are everywhere even on the underside of the leaves. A few of the stigma on the tallest buds are beginning to darken. Buds continue to swell. Thanks again for the follow!!

Looks like I will have plenty of trich covered leaves for some dry ice hash!!! You can see in the trich photo she isn’t ready. Since she is in such a small tent she is really packed in there. I will probably have to harvest in layers so the lower buds can mature.

Started flushing her Friday. I will harvest the 12-15 tall tops Monday and let the lower buds mature into the weekend. I trimmed off the top fan leaves and put about 3/4 of them in the freezer to make dry ice hash later.

There were 2 plants in a 2’x2’x4’ tall tent. The bubbler below one plant was not quite working and this was unknown until harvest, since both plants shared the tank. So I just included the one plant that filled (overfilled) the tent. Additional spacing between branches would likely have been a boost to flower size/yield. 30-35 tops may be to much in a 2x2’ tent lol
