-First cannabis grow, experience with tomatoes and peppers in DWC
-Closet grow, no tent
-Roleadro LED, Galaxyhydro series
-Seems like a slow start, may have stunted
-First 3 days light was about 2" too far
-Having a hard time getting pH right, using General Hydro test kit and pH down- pH measuring high
-Got digital pH test kit, calibration off
-Humidity lower than it should be, not sure how to adjust
-Advanced Nutrients claim this organic nutrient doesn't smell or clog lines, had a mild fish smell the first 3 days and noticed residue in top feed line and bottom of grow basket
-Leaves look a nice green- lighter than darker, slight bumps/deformation on bottom of first set of leaves, second set of leaves pushing
-It's alive and growing so I'm happy, just have to get pH down
-Was excited to see roots shoot out basket during the beginning of the week. Then some major root growth throughout the week.
-Noticed some brownish coloring on roots, thought root rot or nutrient sludge? Found out, through advanced nutrients, organic nutrients will leave a brown tinge.
-pH finally where it should be. Still using GH pH testing kit to measure so no exact number. Based on their chart, yellow 6.0
-Leaves look a lighter green then I'm thinking it should be. Will add a little more nutrients during next water change in couple days.
-Humidity still low! Running a temporary humidifier I already had outside closet door. Brought up humidity by 15%, but still only measuring 35% at it's highest.
-Started playing music for plant about 30min/day, also talk to it a few times a day. Anyone else do this?
-Disappointed in sludge build up, and mild/strong fish smell during first half of the week after water change as AN claims otherwise for this nutrient. Growth looks great besides that.
-Lots of growth this 2nd week, very exciting to see, both above and below deck.
-Added half the amount of nutrients recommended, may add a little more than half recommended during next feeding in a couple days
-Newer leaves have a lighter brighter green, thinking more so than normal. Maybe not enough food?
-Started LST, maybe too early? Should have it grow more?
-Lots of growth this past week, preflowers showing!
-Decorated and added video for the "Xmas GROW *SPECIAL*" giveaway!!
- Should I have started flowering nutrients? Started too late, wait couple days, or another...?
- Water/nutrient change in 2 days, (30th day from sprout.) Was planning to switch to flowering then.
- Had to add 2L of water to reservoir for the first time on day 28, added 5mL extra nutes with it as well
- Brown spots on a couple leaves. Not sure exactly why? Phosphorus deficiency from fluctuating pH, wind burn, or from root rot?
- Lite LST, extra lite defoliating, leaf tucking
- Switched to bloom nutrients on day 30, 45mL/19L
- Iguana Juice Bloom barely has a smell compared to the nasty "organic smell" IJ Grow had. Made lots of unexpected bubbles in reservoir.
- One of airstones making noise, can't figure why. Underwater pump that runs top feed tube doesn't work. Thinking "organic sludge" messed/clogged up both.
- Ruling out root rot just based on the roots not having a foul odor at all.
- Different kind of brown spotting developed than the previous week, thinking calcium deficiency this time.
- Day 34, decided to rinse and refill to correct spotting and what may be nutrient burn on tips. Added 40mL/L of nutes instead of the 45mL from previous refill.
- Plant is small, but the bud sites look great. Leaves developing some frost.
- Hoping rinse and refill, with lower nutes, corrects deficiencies/spotting/discoloration
- What a week!! Decided to move plant into soil. Determined that I DID have root rot! What a headache, I really wanted to just give up! Moved into soil on day 41
- Moved into Happy Frog Soil in 7 gallon pot,
4L of water no added nutes. Will add on next watering.
- Plant did great during transplant, no signs of shock to my knowledge. Had to strip roots of rot before putting into soil.
- Plant pushed out new roots when maxed out air pump in hydro setup, one of the main reasons I didn't give up. It's still alive, and it can still be saved!
- Was going to purchase Hydrogaurd to get rid of rot but talking to hydro store guys ultimately ended up going into soil.
- Will try hydro again, I do have good soil knowledge with regular fruits and veggies so very comfortable working with it.
- This plant is very tiny, so expecting a tiny harvest. Grow and learn.
- Lots of guesswork this week. Wasn't sure how much water to give at first, 2L/watering seems right for now. Hard to diagnose yellow/lite green leaves. Nutrients? LED too close? Transplant shock?
- Plant looks great during the end of this week, after all it went through.
- Smell is picking up, hard to describe exactly. At first it seemed "gassy," but it's changed to fresh pine/lemon/lime. Smells fresh and dank for sure, bold heavier smell than lite sharp smell.
- I can see the finish line!! Thinking a couple more weeks till harvest. Let me know if you think other wise. Planning to just give plain pH'd water from here on out.
- Decision based on most "hairs" being darkened. I have a jewelers magnifier, but can't really tell if trichomes are cloudy or not.
- Leaves got their green back, plant looks great overall. Really impressed with frost coverage, nice and shiny.
- Can't wait for the next run! Thinking I'll only get a quarter dry out of this mini plant, but it's something. Buds bulked up a bit
- Smell changing, not a "danky" wet smell, more earthy now, lite lemon
- Started to flush this week, watered her twice this week, 3L each watering. Will continue flush next week.
- Should I flush until I see leaves changing color? Assuming I should wait till green leaves start getting a lighter green fade.
- Not seeing any amber trichs.
- Fun first grow, thinking I'll get a little over a quarter dry. Only a 4" mini plant, I know I'll get a bigger girl next run. Can't wait.
- Noticed lots of dust collecting in my LED light. Will have to open apart and clean, anyone have same problem?
- Decided to chop down on day 69 based on trichs/ambering. Still hanging to dry
- Didn't really have the leaves changing/fade. Any input on that? Flushed for 2 weeks, maybe not enough flushing? Happy Frog Soil, Advanced Nutrients Organic line.
- Really small harvest, pretty comical 😂 will update under harvest with dry weight when ready
- Already got my 2nd grow under way, Alien vs Triangle F2. Germinated waiting to break soil, so look out for that!
My first grow so I can't compare to any other grow experience. So glad I have a couple more seeds of this strain to really get her to it's potential.
Really messed up trying to grow in DWC set up for my first grow with organic nutrients. I really thought I could pull it off but the organic nutrients made it difficult to keep things from clogging and cleaning.
Root rot got to it and decided to put into soil, the plant did really well going through this process, rating resistance strong.
Massive learning curve; from watering to nutrient dosage, light distance, humidity adjustments, knowing when to harvest, flushing, drying and curing. Learned so much from this. Def need to improve and learn more in all areas to get the yield and quality desired.
Cured for 2 weeks before trying. Was a harsh inhale. I don't think I flushed enough. Maybe even over dried, as well. Weak smell and not really sticky at all. Taste is hard to describe, just too harsh for my liking. Kind of disappointed, I only blame myself for not knowing how to properly do these things. Grow and learn
Got Boveda packs and will cure a couple more weeks and try again. Hoping the smell and taste will only get better.
Mephisto Genetics reposted one of my pics to their Instagram account!! A little instafame there, pretty cool being first grow.
UPDATE: 4 weeks of curing
Just an update, I did got to cure Tyrone a couple more weeks and what a difference!! Much much smoother, tastier and happier!! Curing and tasting at different stages is a great way to learn new things! Glad I saved some to cure out longer. Can't really pinpoint flavor profile, definitely tastes fresh!
Will have to try to grow out this strain again, really see how well she can grow out to be. Lots of room for improvement, learning and crafting technique.
The smell, harshness and poor yield are all on me. I don't blame the genetics or nutrients. My lack of knowledge really set back this plant. But I had to start somewhere.
UPDATE!! Check update in the above section
300w LED is plenty of light for 1 Lady! Let me make a suggestion and recommend trying your next grow in organic soil from beginning. A soil grow is going to be much easier than Hydroponics and much more forgiving when you make mistakes! Trust me on this one... Your Tyrone Special grow here would've been 4 or maybe even 5 times more productive for you if grown in soil! (and less work 😉) Anyways, Great work and effort on this Gal! be proud of yourself for getting this far!!!
@1plant_closetgrow,Can you lower the watts? You'd have to raise it but it can do more than 1 plant.
I find fabric pot with perlite at the bottom, then coco/perlite then 2 inches soil on top best mix )
U can even use CRFs, search for a real k.i.s.s. method on RIU.
@1plant_closetgrow, Dont give up on DWC if that something you want to get down!! I just know its a much harder grow (I've not been successful myself yet on a DWC!). I use Natures Care Organic Soil often and get good results. Also use BioBizz's Light-Mix with great results. My Grow Rooms have 2 300w LEDs that are working well, and my Grow Room 2 has 4 Ladies in it all under 1 300. Eventually as my Amnesia Haze Pot Compare grow plants get bigger, I will have to do some moving around, but for now all 4 are getting plenty of energy from the 1 LED.
Nutrients.
Lift the pot n see if it’s heavy or not to know if they need water , if the pot is still heavy it means it’s still full of water whatever if the first inch on the top is dry ... you just need to lift the pot to know.
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, thank you for your input! I've been doing the "first inch dry" method. 7 gallons of soil is already heavy for me to lift, so that dry soil test works better for me lol. It was first in a DWC set up and moved into soil a week ago, so had to figure that out
Good luck with your Alien vs Triangle, I've got one at nine weeks, not sure if mine is an F2.. it was a freebie from Seedsman. She's a beast though, Happy growing!
Thanks @1plant_closetgrow, Nice!, That's what it's all about. You'll learn from every grow, I don't think the learning ever stops to be honest.
You couldn't have finer genetics to start with, that's for sure! The guys at Mephisto are awesome and really care about the quality of their products.
@Squirrel_Master, thanks!! Can't wait to see her pop up. It'll only be my second grow, but I know I'll do a better job this time around. Got mine from meph genetics, they gave me 2 extra in my 3pack. Will follow your AVT diary!
The perfect example what happens if your roots mold away...
For Hydroponic: The PH must be around 5.5 and the EC around 1,6 in this stage of growing. More important is the temp of your nutrient solution. If it gets over 24°C you will get problems. 20°C is perfect. You can get rid of root rot with H2O2 (Ernol CC or Purolyt for example) but it takes a while....😊
Good luck for the next run.
@1plant_closetgrow,
Growing hydro is genius if you know what you're doing. 😊
I would grow hydro too, but I hate cleaning up the pepples and stuff like that. It's a struggle...😅 You need to run the sytem a week before planting clones in it, so that the pH gets stable.
Here's a nice scale which pH is the best. You just need to know what the plant needs in each stage. 👌

@PigBearMan, thank you for your input! My pH was at a 6 for the past couple weeks. Did not measure EC at all. Water temp was a steady 73°F/23°C. My mistakes. Was going to try hydrogaurd but took the quick and easy way out and landed in soil. Will give hydro another shot in future
She looks brilliant buddy. Looks like a top notch start to a perfect hydro Grow. Theres nothing I love more than logging on and seeing a beautiful little seedling in my feed. She looks like such a gorgeous little baby and I can't wait for the surprises she has in store for us. I'm excited to see where this grow goes and how it turns out. I'm even more excited to see the methods of training and the nutrient regiment you have planned for her. I wish you the best of luck in this grow and I'm ecstatic to see what happens. Best wishes buddy, Cheers.
@NIC808, You are very welcome Nic. I'm always happy to help with anything. I'm not much of a hydro grower myself as I've only done so a few times but I'm always happy to help. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask buddy.
@DabCrab, Thank you for your comment, it means a lot being my first attempt. Not knowing what exactly should be done you're giving me some needed confidence and sense of ease. Much appreciated!
If you only have a loupe or other magnifier, and you can *kind of* see whether theyre cloudy or not but dont have a good view:
finished, cloudy pistils get both erect instead of all floppy and also look like plastic instead of glass
good hanging in there! I believe you have great capability, and have liked/followed you =)
I would stick with the veg nutes until she stops growing vertically, I would guess another week or 2 as she will explode anytime soon! Your last set of leaves look light green so I would up the feed personally but I'm sure a more experienced grower will chime in and give you a definitive answer! Good luck bro 👍
@MrGreenFingers, I agree, the newer leaves are def lighter in color than I think they should be too. I started with a little over half the nutrients but still had to add a little more at the end of the week.
@MrGreenFingers, thank you! I'm trying to be as simple and basic as possible. Will have to set up buckets for future runs. Your first grow looks great!! Nice and clean, looks like you'll have a great harvest for your first. Good luck to you as well, happy growing!
Also you res solution looks very high, I normally leave an inch or 2 gap between the bottom of the net pot and the solution as this will encourage the shorter/new roots to make there way to there food! Regarding the possible root rot, does the res smell funny and is there any sludge/algae?? Also what is your res capacity and how much air does your pump produce in lpm as you want at least a lpm if air per litre of solution, my bucket holds 16 litres when I do a res change and they are getting 20lpm of air with the pump I bought which gives them a nice spar lol
@1plant_closetgrow, no worries man! If your looking yo stick with AN the product in there range which is similar to cannazym is called sensizym but I think I was wrong about it also sterilizing the res so maybe look into hydroguard as well, think I have been lucky so far though as my res temps are always around 60f and had no issues
@MrGreenFingers, will check those products out! Thank you! I really have terrible knowledge on nutrients/supplements, do you know if these are organic or does it matter? I actually contacted advanced nutrients about this and tried to get their input, they have grower support to help. No def answer, the person I was in contact with directed me to call, but haven't yet.
