Making Feminised Pollen with Silver Thiosulfate solution aka STS Part 2
21st Jan 2020
I have had these clones growing for about 6 weeks now and they were pre sprayed with my STS solution aprox 3 weeks ago.
The main difference between using STS and Colloidal silver is that when you use the colloidal silver , you need to spray your plants every day until they show signs of Male
pollen sacs forming. This puts stress on the plant and can also cause deformities on the leaves and even burning.
With the STS I only needed to spray Once and afterwards the clones showed no signs of ill effects and basically carried on as they were.
Once sprayed with the STS , it's simply a matter of keping them under a 12/12 lighting cycle until they give out pollen. This can take anywhere from 5-10 weeks so
you need to have patience. In this case the male pollen sacs only became visible to me two days ago so we'll assume it took aprox 2-3 weeks for the STS to do its job
in reversing the clones sexual bits from Female to Male. You know sorta like Bruce Jenner 😂 From now on It'll be up to me to monitor the pollen sacs development
and collect any pollen that self disperses for further breeding. The last clone I grew out using this method only produced pollen when I removed the mature sacs and let them dry before gently shaking them over a screen to catch the pollen. Any Pollen I collect will be used to make myself a few seeds mainly more pineapple chunk seeds by back crossing with the mother plant. Also I would like to experiment a bit just for fun, so I might do a P/chunk x P/wifi, P/wifi x P/chunk P/wifi x High level maybe a couple of others but it all depends on how much pollen is produced as to how much pollination can be done. The breeders treat entire plants to make fem pollen and I'm only using a few clones. All in all this should be another fun experiment and I'm looking forward to learning from experience.

Maravilloso proyecto. Ya tendrás oportunidad de seguir experimentando y obtener hasta otras nuevas cepas! Puedes congelar tu polen sobrante para proximos cruces 🍀🍀
