They have been in 12/12 for 7 days with no signs of flowering. They are both still producing leaves.
And they are growing well despite my best efforts to hurt them. I have been wondering about the leaf curl etc for a few weeks. I suspected very low humidity so I kept my humidifier rolling. I suspect a nitrogen imbalanced from my cal/mag additive. Well, I am embarrassed to say, that it was a pH issue. I changed the batteries on my pH meter & I didn't re calibrate. Stupid. And I didn't question the increase in pH Down that I was using. Double stupid. But thankfully, the plants are hardy & survived. They are now at a proper pH of 5.9 or so.
The Malawi is 14" & the Dr .Grinspoon is at 23". Nodal spacing on the D. G is 6", double that of the Malawi.
Edit: Day 36 - Supercropped the Dr.Grinspoon main stalk to start to even things out a bit. ๐ See picture.
@HighRoller909,
I am happy to oblige. ๐ I decided to try a long sativa grow for a change. My challenge will be to contain them.
Besides, I really want to make some Malawi cobs. ๐ฒ
Thanks. The Malawi cola is about 10" above the rest of the bud sites. I didn't top her. 12 weeks or more . . . ๐
I too have a few Panama regs from Ace that I got as freebies. Some future grow. I plan to run fem Zamadelica next if it fits with my timing schedule since I will be out of country next November. Too many seeds, not enough space or time. ๐
For most growers? No. Far too big & long. If I was doing it again, I would start from 12/12 from seed & transition into 10/14 midway through flower. It hasnโt been curing enough to give a real view on the taste but it is pleasant. The high (from the early harvest) is a cerebral Sativa lift. Clear mind, upper body buzz etc โ not as rounded as the Malawi โ but clearer & stronger than the typical Sativa hybrid commercially available.
And that is why it may be worth growing for some โ that search for the old school pure Sativa high. This has it.
Yes mate your 12 / 12 comment hit it right on the head for the Grinspoon :D I have one on idle in my office in 15 liters, its "only" 180cm talls, that plants just never stops the flower stretch, its so true :D
Yours looking solid mate ! mine still has to go back under the lights but as of now its a office plant ๐
I have only smoked both once with uncured bud & I layered them on something else, so it is hard to evaluate. Both are โupโ highs, of course. I made a cob from 35 grams of the Malawi & I did chew 0.5 grams last week to test. While it tasted like crap (due to a slight flaw in my cobbing), it was very, very good & I was blitzed for hours wearing a big shit-eating grin.
@TheDoctor,
Yeah, it is a big messy plant. Multiple stalks are now above my light level. Even alone in the tent it would have filled it by now. I have it tied over to one side to leave space for the Malawi. I will get what I get I guess.
If the curling you are talking about is that leaf tip clawing, it is early sign of Nitrogen overload. Sativas don't like much N in veg.Even if you havent been giving too much, they tend to be very sensitive to N. You can back off with N on plants that have this sign and it'll be ok
@HighRoller909,
Agreed. I figure the low pH produced some nute lock which spiked the nitrogen. Now that my pH is back to normal, I will cut out all nutes except the Canna A & B & I will run them light. EC of 0.7 - 0.8 for now.
