Coming in hot after my last grow, here come two new Pineapple Express clones ready to blast off. They've been living outside for a few weeks and are nicely rooted and a little trained, today they were repotted into their final homes, 25l pots, and defoliated lightly. I've just used the last of my Canna Rhizotonic but i'll get some more for these girls.
After two grows with this strain she feels familiar and I know what to expect, this time I intend to keep them in vegetation until I achieve an even, full canopy to hopefully see my biggest yield yet. Fingers crossed all goes to plan, tune in for the ride to see what happens!
Another week of growth and all is well. Here is a little run down of what's been happening in the tent
-created a larger grid that covers my whole tent footprint for training the girls into. Really happy with it, looks organised 😎
-started weaving them into the grid a little more than they were, this has entailed some defoliation every other day, with high stress training implemented to make stems grow in the desired directions before they fit in just right. I trim some larger old fan leaves, but also new ones still growing in which are going to cover other branches. This is probably more necessary than if they were growing following their natural tendencies as the result of all my bending and training is leaves end up where they shouldn't.
Pineapple is a slow vegetative grower I am noticing, but it is a bit of two steps forward one step back with me lopping off leaves willy nilly and all. This aside, they are fine with my rough manhandling that occurs daily when I continue their training. A little water seems to go a long way, and i'm trying to give them less than I usually would in response. These plants are already the size my last round of girls were when they begun to flower!
Humidity has risen to an average of 70%, I will address this factor before looking at flowering.
These girls look super happy and manage to grow enough every day that i'm always busy in the morning taming their latest developments. Back left Pineapple is a super duper fast grower, and my only worry is that these girls get out of control. Their canopy is staying very even, and I keep leaves from blocking other branches and trim accordingly. Their stems are looking very thick, I thought i'd include some pictures as it shows their structure better than from above, but I apologise for the blurry quality. Hard to tell how much more vegging i'll do, at this pace maybe two or three weeks. What do you think?
These girls grow so quickly. Check out the pile of trim, this is pretty much what I take off every two weeks. She is going to grow in just great though and i'm really excited to see it happen. The whole grid is almost taken up now.
Another week has elapsed and these girls are seeing in 2018 looking big and healthy. Rear left pineapple grows so rapidly, and I've spent 4 hours this last week getting in and cleaning up her lower branches and growths. Her leaves quickly crowd out other branches and it takes a bit of maintenance every day. When I strip off leaves and stems the humidity drops from 70%+ down to 50%, really showing the impact on airflow this overcrowding can create. My goal is to achieve a bit more vertical growth before I begin flowering, but I can't imagine that this change is over two weeks away. These girls have been vegging for about two months now. Catch you all next week and hope everyone's garden grows well in the mean time! Happy new year 😀 Who knows what crazy strains this year holds in store for us all
4 days ago I made the switch to flowering; these girls have reached a great size, and each individual branch has a few nodes to it. As i've done in the past, i'll keep her on vegetation nutrients for the first week of flower to facilitate the most growth she can muster out of her stretching. Every other day I spend about an hour pruning these three plants, and I feel i'm finally reaching a point when i'm noticing some progress, rather than feeling that I am looking at identical plants every day. Excited to see the extent which size increases during these first few weeks of flower.
The two Pineapple Girls are shooting upwards quickly, and so far they have a great infrastructure to build some buds with. They recieve a little more water now, and I've begun to phase in bloom nutrients, and I also have added an extraction fan to hopefully keep the humidity at a reasonable level. Pistils are beginning to come in more, and I soon leave for a week, entrusting my girls in the hands of a friend, so it'l be quite exciting to see how things develop over the course of the week, and what I come back to. Fingers crossed they'll all still be alive! These are the largest Pineapple plants i've had compared to my last two grows with this strain, and It's looking promising so far. We'll see how things look come next week.
I've been away for a week, leaving my tent in the care of a friend. Coming back I was surprised to see how much bud growth has occurred, as you can see colas are really starting to stack up, and trichromes are already appearing.
Pineapple Express is growing as amazingly as ehs always seems to, and this time around there's certainly a lot more of her to be seen. At only three weeks into flowering, there seems to be a lot of potential for the weeks to come. I spent 2 hours trimming leaves today, mainly in spots where they were rubbing against other colas, and there's a good amount of space for each branch so far. Really excited to see what develops. Stay tuned!
Another week into flowering and buds continue to grow in size, and trichromes continue to appear. They haven't required much trimming now, I think their focus is really shifting to bud growth and development. Any slight amount of contact with this pineapple really leaves your hands smelling tropical, and your fingers quite sticky. Around this time in my grows I usually start to worry the buds have reached their maximum size which is worrying as that'd be rather small, but they always seem to continue to grow and swell up, so i'll try not to worry so much. Thanks for stopping by
Pineapple Express continues to be my favorite strain to grow, super low maintenance and develops what are, by my standards, a very high amount of trichromes! These two girls have some significant branches with a few nice nugs along their lengths, i'm a little worried as quite a few branches are pretty small at the moment, and she appears to be finishing early. I'm hoping this isn't the case, and they have some size still to come. Take a look, she is absurdly sticky and smelly to touch, and tantalisingly beautiful!
Pineapple Express is looking very crystally and beautiful, and like she could be finished after only 7 weeks flowering. I am holding out to notice more size increase but she's really slowed down. She smells overpoweringly strong, is sticky to the touch an is a sight for sore eyes!
