So this is a second grow courtesy of Fast Buds in an effort to showcase how well their genetics can perform in a small space. I had a 100% success rate with germination on these two seedlings- both seeds were small but beautiful, shiny and healthy! They are planted in a CoCo Coir medium that’s been amended with Gaia Green all organic slow time release fertilizer. The fertilizer is applied at a rate of 4 tablespoons/gallon so for this grow it’s 16 tablespoons or 1 cup of feed per 4 gallons/1 pot. The fertilizer is also split at a ratio of 75% grow to 25% bloom so for this grow the initial amendment rate is 12 tablespoons of grow to 4 tablespoons of bloom. This will take them through the first four weeks with nothing but PH’d water (6.5-6.8) until they are top dressed again in week 5. The Gaia Green Fertilizer is a simple and effective way to feed your plants from start to finish without multiple bottles and has saved me a lot of extra time and money. All in all, a great week for the two Fast Buds Purple Lemonade seedlings and thx again to Fast Buds for the free beans! See you next week and happy growing everyone!
The Fast Buds Purple Lemonade seedlings are thriving at the end of week 2, thank goodness. My other grow (the Tangiematics’) have not been doing so well and I recently removed the sickly plant so I am germinating another Purple Lemonade to take it’s place in the tent. I am happy with the growth of these plants so far and I am debating on whether or not to try topping them. This seems to be a very fast flowering strain so I might just let them be. I will be starting with the CalMag now going into week 3 at a rate of 1-1.5 mls per gallon and I’m watering these plants every other day approximately 1-1.5 litres. Stems are beginning to thicken and overall this grow is going well so far. I will check in again next week, thanks for stopping by! 😻
***FYI- day/nighttime temps are not correct. Neither are solution/substrate temps. GD is not saving my info correctly, just keeps posting temps at 50. I’m at 78 during the day and 65-68 at night.
Super busy doing a much needed shower renovation so just a quick update for this past week. The Fast Buds Purple Lemonade plants are doing great! I took out a sickly plant of a different strain and germinated a third Purple Lem to take it’s place in the tent. So there are now three plants of this strain- the first two are moving into week 4 and the new seedling at only a few days old. I’ve decided not to top them based on comments/conversations with my fellow growers here on GD. I just want to see how this strain grows out naturally. I started them on the CalMag at the beginning of week 3 and I’ve already taken them up to 2 mls/gallon. They are drinking about 1.5 litres over 2 days or .75 of a litre everyday.
That’s it, back to work for me! 😼
All three Fast Buds Purple Lemonade plants are doing well. The seedling is still tiny while the two older plants are both at 17-18" tall and stretching everyday! They are both moving into flower now so I have been doing some LST to open up the branches to allow as much light penetration into the plants as they can handle. I don’t think that these are going to be huge plants so encouraging as many bud sites as possible is my only hope for a decent harvest. I was spoiled with my last grow (Fast Buds Green Crack) and I’m finding it tough to accept that these 4 plants will most likely not produce 1 pound- perhaps not even a half pound 😢 I am watering every second day- 2 litres for each of the older plants with CalMag at 3 mls per gallon. I will be amending these plants over the upcoming week as they are due for it by weeks 4-5 and they are looking a little hungry- light green, maybe even a tinge of yellowing starting in the newest growth. The seedling is also being watered every second day- 1 litre and no CalMag until she hits two weeks old. No purple showing in the emerging buds at this point although that is of no real importance to me as long as the quality/quantity of the bud is good. Thx for checking in and I’ll update again at the end of week 5, stay healthy my fellow growers and all the best through the Covid crazy. 😷
Thank you to all of the world’s healthcare and frontline workers for your bravery, dedication and sacrifice during Covid 19. The world owes you and all of our thoughts, prayers and actions are with you so Stay Home Folks! The Fast Buds Purple Lemonade plants are doing well at the end of Week 6, Day 42 for the older two plants and the end of Week 3, Day 21 for the youngest. The tallest plant is now 32" tall and healthy but a low leaf to bud ratio (not a bushy strain in my opinion). The medium sized plant is 25" tall with some serious yellowing around the outer edges of her fan leaves (similar to my last grow of the Green Crack, not sure what’s causing this yet). The smallest, youngest plant at 3 weeks old is 12" tall and was just topped at Day 20. After watching how much the older two plants have grown, I feel that this strain has more than enough time to recover and stretch up after topping. So, a bit of a comparison will be possible between the untopped/topped plants for future grows or other growers looking to try this strain personally. I amended the two oldest plants during Week 5 with Gaia Green Organic slow time release fertilizer at a half dose of the initial amendment- so 8 tablespoons, 2 tablespoons of grow to 6 tablespoons of bloom. They are being watered every second day, approximately 2.5-3 litres each plant or 1.5 litres per plant per day. I think there might be a tiny tinge of purple showing in the calyxes of the tallest plant but nothing dramatic yet. Overall, life is good in the tent and these ladies should be finishing up in about 4-5 weeks. Can’t wait to try it! Until next time, stay safe, healthy and support the frontline workers in your life and community because they need it! Happy growing! 😷
No significant update for the 3 Purple Lemonade plants this past week as all is well in the tent.
Just a huge shout out to all of our healthcare workers, first responders and other essential frontline workers for everything you do! For asking you to do your jobs with very real shortages or no personal protective equipment at all! Thank you for your courage and continued efforts to keep us all healthy, fed and safe. For allowing the vast majority of us to stay at home while you go out everyday and risk exposure to this new deadly virus. Thank you! 😷😢🙌🙌🙌
So, it’s been a couple of weeks since my last update on the Fast Buds Purple Lemonade plants x3. The two older plants are now through the end of week 9, early in week 10 and quickly approaching harvest. They have bulked up beautifully as I was told by a fellow grower to expect from this lovely, fast finishing strain. Of the two older plants, only one is showing heavy purple calyxes/colouring at this point but I am okay with that as these are both stinky, sticky and heavier than I expected. I have stopped the CalMag and begun flushing the older two plants as they are within 1-2 weeks of harvest. I am checking trichomes every second day when watering to make sure that I don’t miss the window of peak potency and as it stands- most of the trichs are almost cloudy/milky with a hint of amber to come. I am flushing with PH’d water, 1 gallon every second day till harvest. The youngest Purple Lemonade plant is now through the end of week 6, early into week 7 and fully into flower now. She has been amended once since the initial amendment that was done at the very start and although she has some yellow/lightening tips- all seems well. She is drinking a-lot of water, 1 gallon every second day with 4 mls of CalMag per gallon. Thank you once again to all of our frontline workers going out everyday to keep us healthy, fed and safe during Covid 19- we salute, honour and thank you! 👏🙌👏
Okay here we go... an update on all three Fast Buds Purple Lemonade plants.
Plant A- the tallest of the three at 32" and the most purple was harvested in week 11 on day 74. She yielded a decent 413 grams wet/90 grams dry of uncured bud.
Plant B- the shortest of the three at 28" with a few hints of purple throughout was harvested in week 11 on day 76. She yielded 354 grams wet/86 grams dry uncured bud.
Plant C- the medium sized, youngest, topped plant of the group at 30" is still in the tent. She is currently in week 9 and approaching harvest as per normal.
I will complete a full smoke report and strain review when the final plant is harvested, until then- happy growing everyone and stay healthy!
If you are looking to grow oversize buds, excessively sticky with loads of resin and high THC levels- Fast Buds Purple Lemonade should be a front runner on your list! I really enjoyed my first attempt at growing this strain and found it relatively easy going from seed to harvest in just 11 weeks. This strain grew as advertised maxing out at about 3 ft or 34" tall and I was fortunate enough to have a mixture of all the available phenotypes; purple, purple/green and straight up green- I found no difference in potency between the various phenotypes. These were strong smelling plants from about week 5 on- grapefruit with gassy undertones make this a difficult choice for those looking to stealth grow. These were by far the largest buds that I have ever grown indoors and they stayed large throughout the dry and going into cure. The dry buds are hard/dense and this is an extremely resinous strain- so much so that these three plants left large sticky patches where they were resting on the inside walls of my tent! The yields were decent but not outstanding as I made the mistake of only topping one of the three FB Purple Lemonade plants. In future, I will top all plants of this strain as it rebounds quickly and yields considerably more product compared to the untopped plants. And now to describe the smoke... it has a great flavour even prior to going into cure and it burns beautifully in either a joint, pipe or vape. It has a sweet, strong flavour similar to that of the FB Green Crack and I find this strain to be a perfect 50/50 balance of Indica to Sativa. It’s a well balanced high suitable for day or night, anytime really but maybe not for the novice or newbie smoker as it’s still really potent! Once again, I am very impressed with the Fast Buds genetics! This was an all too easy strain to grow, producing massive buds drenched in trichomes and feels quite high in THC (wish I could test it...). Thank you to Fast Buds for the opportunity to grow and showcase your fabulous Purple Lemonade strain and I will definitely grow this again! Highly recommend!
The Fast Buds Purple Lemonade plants are done and this was a pretty great strain! Easy to grow, giant buds and really potent pot. 314 grams dry from all three plants with a significantly better result from the single plant that was topped. I really enjoyed this grow and I just wanted to say thank you to Fast Buds for the opportunity to grow and showcase your continually impressive genetics. 🇨🇦
Hey Mom, looking happy and healthy there. Keep up the good growing. I just started a new diary (week 1) of Purple Lemonade (x4) too. I will be following along if you don't mind. We have similar growing techniques and it will be interesting to see the progression of my grow compared to yours. Your grow is a week or so ahead of mine and both look good. Check it out and I'll be seeing you down the line. Peace
@Momgrowsthechronic, nah, I just harvested one and she was a fast finisher, 60 days or so I believe. She is curing now and by all indications it is going to be wicked. She only got to be about 18 inches with a lot of fat buds. The yield was 53 grams. I know I can do better because I caused her to be stunted with the type of germination cup I used. Besides, I'm just not big on topping. I've tried it and didn't see the benefit. I like the way they grow naturally. If you top, it will make for another comparison. I think there may be some photos of her in my Blackberry diary. Peace
@densesensi, I would definitely recommend topping the Purple Lemonade strain as long as the grow is going well and you are not space challenged (width wise). I pulled 138 grams dry off of the topped PL vs 86 & 90 grams dry off the two PL that were not topped. I will top all of my Purple Lemonade plants in the future! Great strain too as far as smoke- strong and super tasty!
@Momgrowsthechronic, thanks for such a detailed reply. I have a Purple Lemonade Auto and Wedding Cake Auto going right now both at the end of week 1 from sprout outdoors. I'm gonna LST them, but I've heard conflicting things about topping these PL.
What would you recommend?
@densesensi, youngest plant of the three Purple Lemonade topped on day 20 and trained for about 10 days. After topping, when the plant really starts to put tonnes of energy into forcing up the lower branches- I simply stake out/tie down the lowest 2-3 sets of branches. This brings them out well past the edges of the pot and makes the plant much wider. I only keep these stakes or ties in place for 10-14 days- enough time for the branches to harden into position and stay in place once I remove the restraints. Usually this all happens at the beginning of the flowering stretch so the branches have plenty of time to stay wide and grow right back up towards the light- creating large, strong lower branches that produce substantial buds instead of just larfy product that ends up becoming bubble hash or baking material. It’s super easy and only takes a couple of weeks but it will increase your yields substantially. Plants 1 & 2 were not topped but the lower branches on both were spread open and I had larger buds on those branches than on both colas! Good luck!
@GreenHouseLab, he is super cute and comes down every night to the grow room with me. It’s now a part of his daily routine too so I figured I’d enter him into the Pets and Pot contest. Maybe he’ll win, probably not but I wanted to show my fur buddy to everyone to share some much needed cuteness and joy during these weird times of Covid. Both Mojo and myself say thanks for the compliment and Happy Easter to you and your family!
Very nice Mom! I think I mentioned, you'd be surprised with the results. Anyone that has tried it wants more and has quickly become a favorite. You described it perfectly, as I drool over your pictures and load a bowl of PL! Did you see my harvest? Our results are almost identical. I guess the only real difference is that I didn't top or LST, just leaf tuck and defoliate. Enjoy your bounty. Peace and Health
Hey Mom, your garden grows green 💪 Although my PL's are a week behind yours, I think they are keeping pace with each other at about the same number of days 👏 Beautiful ✊ The differences between our grows are small. You: 5 gallon bags, pure coco/ perlite medium, type of nutrients (fertilizer), 18/6 light cycle. Me: 3 gallon bags, coco/soil medium, type of nutrients (inoculant concentrate and a few organic supplements during flower for terpenes), 20/4 light cycle. I did defoliation/hst this week also, check out my diary. I think you are going to be surprised by your yield, the flowers are XL. I will be disappointed if I don't net 450 grams or 112 g/plant.
Stay healthy Mom. I plan to stay home and tend to my garden, keep medicated and stay away from as many people as possible. Happy growing. BTW, I got a Tangie'matic that just popped her head out last week. I may start a diary for her too.
Peace
They look great as usual. I've followed a few Fastbuds Six Shooter grows they look like they tend to give pretty hefty yields. Haven't tried that strain myself it's on the list.
Hey there,
Thanks so much for running a diary of our genetics 🙌
