Hi,
This is OccultGreen420 botanist enthusiast and photographer.
Finally I get to start the journey in documenting my projects and the path from seed to trichomes photography which I enjoy very much doing. It is something that brought me to have a much deeper understanding for this beautiful plant, cannabis.
Glimpses of my trichomes photography can be seen on instagram @occultgreen420 , make sure to check it out and tell me what you think.
I recently got few incredible presents from Dutch Passion Seed Company, established in Amsterdam in 1987 and from the legendary old school genetics, Super Sativa Club established 1985. Thank you both kindly for the wonderful strains.
In this journal, I'll do my best to document my style of growing and finally the trichome photography at the end.
So, the seeds are:
Dutch Passion - Banana Blaze
"Treat this lady with love and she'll be real good back to you. Be conservative with nutrients, she doesn't need strong feeds to reach her full XL potential. When grown well, Banana Blaze will yield heavy harvests of tasty buds thanks to the numerous side branches.
She often finishes in a Xmas tree shape with long blooms. She can reach 1.50m tall and flowers for about 8 weeks. You can smell a distinctive banana aroma around harvest time and this can also be tasted, especially on the exhale when smoked. This indica dominant variety gives a great, relaxing body stone.
The special genetics came from an awesome 1990’s Dutch Passion gene bank banana indica. We had stored this “old-school” Banana Indica for a special breeding program just like this. The team were very impressed with the vigour and amazing terpene profile coming from this banana indica."
is what the breeder is saying on the website and I couldn't be more excited! I am a sucker for flavorful cannabis strains and Dutch Passion have an abundance to choose from. As it is the next plant:
Dutch Passion Meringue - feminized seeds, and this is what they say about the strain:
" Unique USA genetics
Very sweet aroma and fruity flavors
Compact buds with one of the highest THC levels
Quality of the flowers is top-notch with an amazing bag appeal
Meringue has a very sweet aroma and fruity flavour
Meringue is a hybrid indica/sativa strain with a complex fruity aroma that leans to the tangy side of the spectrum but a bit sweeter. It smells like oranges, mango and honey with some earthy, sour hints. Her aroma profile is also very pungent.
Meringue is a connoisseur’s delight
Meringue is a high-quality strain. She might not be the biggest overall yielder but the level of quality is definitely a reason to keep growing her again and again. Expect solid yields of stunning looking buds. Although the flowers can be a bit smaller, they are rock-hard and thus will still put down some weight on the scale. When handled well she will deliver you some of the most beautiful looking nuggets on the planet. The dark hues in the flowers and leaves makes the white layer of resin really pop out for an eye-catching bag appeal."
How can I not be excited to have the chance to develop and photograph and enjoy (hopefully) such a plant!
Dutch Passion - Mokum's Tulip is a 1st Prize Best Indica, Clouds in the City Cup 2019 and this is the presentation from the website:
"Dutch Passion's Head of Genetics came across a very special pheno of Gelato on one of his travels. The plant had an amazing candy smell and some beautiful blue tones in the leaves. The sparkling buds were rock hard, the Head of Genetics was amazed by the rich taste which was exactly the same as the deliciously sweet and appealing aroma of the buds on the plant. He knew that this exceptional individual would be outstanding base material for another elite Dutch Passion cross.
This Gelato pheno arrived in “Mokum” (the old Hebrew/Yiddish word for Amsterdam) and was crossed with a vigorous Sherbet individual that also leans to the sweet side of the Cookie family.The Sherbet had a terpene-rich aroma, heavy yields and a particularly powerful effect.
Amsterdam became famous for tulips back in the day and the smell of this new creation reminded us of a very sweet smelling red tulip. The name “Mokum's Tulip” quickly came to mind.This XXL yielding strain is a must for your empty cookie jar"
Really interesting presentation and I am most curious to observe how it develops. It was the 1st one to sprout and was one of the biggest seeds I have ever germinated :)
Next on the list is Auto Durban Poison from Dutch Passion:
"Auto Durban Poison®️ is the automatic version of our legendary original Durban Poison photoperiod variety. This Sativa dominant autoflower can be harvested 10-11 weeks after germination and she will grow fast and tall, with plenty of side growth, just like the original. Auto Durban Poison®️ also shares the same luxuriously pleasant and uplifting experience as the original. This is a top quality feminized automatic which delivers a connoisseur quality vape/smoking experience with good yields. Auto Durban Poison®️ tends to take longer during vegetative growth than other autoflowers, which can allow her to grow a little taller. The buds grow large and resinous with that special, celebrated, Durban aroma. This variety will perform well outdoors too, she is a high-performance new automatic using some of our best genetics. Ideal for anyone seeking a top quality auto which delivers a strong and refreshing feel-good experience.
Seed to harvest is 10-11weeks, heights are typically 80-100cm, and occasionally she can get taller. Yields for the average grower are 75-100g, depending on the location and growing conditions. Experienced auto growers will easily exceed 100g+ per plant."
And last but not least (as they say) from the legendary Super Sativa Seed Club, Auto Creeper
"About Auto Creeper cannabis seedsIn the 80’s the SSSC worked with an indica strain called Williams Wonder. It was an interesting and occasionally freaky strain for research. Sometimes it showed autoflowering characteristics. This was unusual, auto genetics were far from understood in those days.Autoflower seed varieties need careful research, there are still plenty of underperforming low potency dwarfs from the lesser seed companies. However there have been some truly exceptional autoflower genetics created recently as well. These sometimes came via selectively inbreeding autoflowers with the best genetics over many generations. When done well, this preserves the autoflower gene as well as the THC-rich characteristics and taste/aroma from the photoperiod parent genetics.After studying autoflower breeding we worked on Auto Creeper. In our opinion this brings a whole new approach to autos. When the SSSC was re-established we knew that a good autoflower variety was required for the modern seed collection. But it had to be of superior quality to the typical ‘mid-quality’ auto strains which dominate much of todays market.Auto Creeper was made from scratch using THC rich genetics from our photoperiod Creeper sativa. We still had the autoflowering version of the original Williams Wonder in our seed archive. This was used to give the autoflowering characteristics to the genetics.More than 3 years of effort and lots of back crossing to the original Creeper was required until the team were satisfied with the quality. Auto Creeper is usually around a metre high with extensive side branching. She takes around 11 weeks to grow from seed to harvest, occasionally a couple of weeks longer for the heaviest yielding phenotypes. The buds look like real sativa flowers, long and stretchy. You may notice some broad indica-shaped leaves from the Williams Wonder indica heritage. But the smell and powerful effects are genuine sativa. You can expect generous yields, especially under intense light conditions."
Thank you both Dutch Passion Seed Company and Super Sativa Seed Club for the seeds.
Seeds were started on the 27th of February in Root Riot cubes, constant 20-21 temps, humidity as much as possible, kept in dark until today.
Today transferred in a 1m2 grow tent, with a carbon filter and extractor under a small Budmaster HPS-2 led light.
More info about the light:
Budmaster HPS-2
∙ LED's: 38 x Osram SSL80 Horticultural Family
∙ Coverage: 40 x 80cm
∙ PPF (Total): 96 µmol
∙ Energy used: 80w
∙ Input Voltage: 100 - 240v
∙ Frequency: 50 - 60 hz
∙ Voltage: 70v
∙ Amps: 0.36 Amps
I have used Budmaster led lights for many years now and they are amazing. Thanks Paul and Budmaster for all the support over the years! Plants are loving it. They have a sweet spot and you have to trail and error until you tune it just right, but when you get it...it's amazing to see how fast the plants respond to it.
Very small energy consumption, incredible powerful lights with most amazing yields. It was the perfect led light for self sufficient growers. The reason I am using past tense saying "it was the perfect light" is now Budmaster has developed a new range of incredibly superior horticultural lights, Cropmaster.
For more info check out their websites for more technical information https://www.cropmaster-led.co.uk/
Will keep you updated on how things will reveal with, hopefully, weekly photo updates.
I will reveal the type of medium , nutrients, growing techniques as we go along, I will not spoil the fan just yet.
Usually my main plan is to start with few Autos, for this project will have the 2x Auto Creeper and 2x Auto Durban Poison, which have a life circle of around 10-11 weeks.
They will be kept initially under 24h light and from week 2 or so, will decrease the light to 20h with 4h darkness.
In this way I will keep the feminized strains (Meringue, Mokum's tulip, Banana Blaze and another one which only now I mention and come back later, Purple#1 from Dutch passion) in a long vegetation of around 10 weeks.
All will unfold with time. Stay tuned and will see together how this seedlings will turn into monsters :)
If you have questions or suggestions, do ask and I'll do my best to answer.
Day 2:
All going well. Temp is constant at around 25 C, Humidity 45.
Today gave a bit of a water sprinkle (ph of water 6.5) no nutrients.
Dome still covering the seedlings.
No sign from Banana Blaze and 2nd Auto Creeper. Rest are doing great.
I always find the germination process and 1st week a very important and delicate period. If only this seedlings would know what is up for them in the next period...
Day 3
Seedlings are stretching and this is wonderful, at least for Auto Durban Poison, Auto Creeper, Meringue and Mokum's Tulip. Still no sign of the 2nd Auto Creeper and Banana Blaze.
Since the seedlings were stretched out, I've decided to build up on their root system as well. While they are nice and tall, I bury them as much as possible in a cup filled with soil. So the buried stem becomes root.
The soil that I use and used for many many years, is Plagron Royal Mix, easy to use, self explanatory, most important organic and is prefertilized for 6 weeks.
This plant develop very fast both outside of the soil and inside and roots have to be trained as much as the rest of the plant for the best results.
Plants were sprayed with clear water after transplant. No nutrients added.
Day 4
All good, seedlings are setting in. Gave a sip of water.
Day 5
All is well in the garden. Seedlings are enjoying the conditions. No watering today, just a light clear water spray over them.
Great news, Banana Blaze from Dutch Passion finally showing up, 5 days later than the rest of them. Delighted with this! Temps are 23 C and humidity 40%.
Finally finished, the 6 months Occult Magnetic Garden is done. If you have the curiosity and want to check some cool macro shoots as well, take a pick and let me know what you think! 😊
That's some impressive main-lining right there! Where did you learn the technique? I think I might use this diary as a little visual guide :)
Keep up the good work!
@@occultgreen420, just saying if you think it works, then it’s already an asset. I was not criticizing. Hell they already use it for pain, joints pain and blood circulation. So. I won’t knock what I don’t know 👍
@@JP148, thanks for stopping by. Magnetism is not about confidence in growing. It is a scientifically proven method that yields more and I want to share this with the growdiaries community, especially with the small scale grower who is limited by the number of plants that can grow. With this method, if done properly, one can get significantly bigger plants and yields. Also the magnetic grow acts on many levels, isn't it? you are here checking my grow ;)
@Martian,
giving ORMUS to plants has nothing to do with smartness. It's a nutrient and a booster. Make sure you to follow the producer's instructions. When water is passing through a magnetic field, it become magnetized water.
Hella jealous of this one. I love pure sativas. Haven't had any in over a decade. Unfortunately my growspace lacks the height for me to grow them with confidence, so I dont do it. Also cannabis isn't legal where I live so not like I can just head over to dispensary to get some. I love smoking in the daytime but I shy away from it. I'm 42, I have responsibilities and almost all my weed is too couchlocky for me to indulge during hectic day (hence DaSofaSurfer). I do love the buzz the creativity and even the paranoia that people often complain about with sativas. I hope u enjoy the heck out of it tho. If u want to send me a nug in the mail tho 🤣✌️
@DaSofaSurfer,
yea, you are right, I should have lollipoped her much more aggressive but left her like that for no reason 😶, next time will be different. She was under the 550w only for 1 week or so, the rest was around 220w. It's for sure a strain worth growing if you are limited by the number of plants you grow per year, then one of this with proper lollipoping and ScrOG is for sure a heavy yielding strain and very bushy for a sativa. Thanks for the kind words man!
@@@occultgreen420, wow 110 days is crazy. I was thinking that I would have lollipoped alot off the bottom I mean they are donkey d!cks up and down I know and I remember you got a 400 or 500 watt light but she's so tall idk if those bottom buds are getting enough light. Sometimes when that happens I like to harvest just half the plant, lower the light and give the bottom half an extra week to Finish up. I'm not there tho and like I said I'm jealous of her. Good job
@DaSofaSurfer,
It was an interesting experience to grow this Auto Creeper. Took 110 days from seed to harvest and gave 180g dry bud, which is pretty sweet for an Auto strain done organic in soil with no wired hormones to pump it up. I might have done her injustice with the way I grew her, would have benefited from much much more defoliation and ScrOG and a 1m2 tent for her own, but she got on well the way she did. I'd be a big fan of sativas. Love the flow an energy it brings. Great for daytime. Will see how it tastes in another week or so. I can only offer nice macros...not able to send anything because...they don't exist, all is fiction 😅 the time for global legalization is near! or at least decriminalization.
Wow, those trichomes pictures are awesome man. 7th picture of your harvest should definitely be a contender for best pic of the month. Awesome colours 😎
@@occultgreen420, well, they truly are nice photos, I’m using her as my new background on my phone 😀 try and submit them for this month, you find in in the main list under “contests”. Nice prices to be won too.
Good luck man, nice diary 👍
Have I commented on this diary yet, I did not find..?
Anyhow...ass licking time: beautiful looking is this magnetic grow to me.
Magnetic fields are peculiar and intriguing. The aligned spins of the subatomic particles cause the borealis as well as your plants' nice colorings... It is a wonderful world (if you count out the destructive h. sapien fam)... Looking forward to seeing your harvest results 😃
I feel like the Magnet does nothing.. There's magnet's Everywhere.. That's why I followed along I wanted to understand more of the dynamics of the magnet can you please explain this to me? You don't have to.. I understand their are magnetic fields everywhere but????
@DeadwebsiteBoringcommunity,
And what would you have thought you will see? you are here following the grow, aren't you? so the magnet is working 😆
Will see in the end what comes out of it, the project is still very early, has at least another 8-10 weeks to go and have in mind the water intake is much higher during flowering. The internet is full of scientific publications on magnetic agriculture tracing back to the '60s, you can check them out, also there are links to different scientific journals through this diary if you look back. I will write an article about my method of growing with magnets, ormus and all the rest. If you have the interest to follow until the end, you are welcomed to do so.
@DutchPassion_Official, thank you so much for everything!🙏 I am so impressed with all the strains! they respond so well to the training. As always, wonderful, strong strains! Looking foreword in seeing the end results, the macro photos 😄
@Dunk_Junk,
Thanks for stopping by and for the appreciation! if you like the macros, go check some more non my instagram @@occultgreen420 , lots of other strains and nice colors!
Camera is Canon and lens is a custom made one for macro photography with polarized light and a x10 macro lens on top of it, all wrapped in duct tape ... not joking.
