RQS Fruit Spirit. I picked this one after searching for strains that handle outdoor conditions well. I have planted late in the season but hoping to at least get it to a reasonable size before flowering comes on. A bit of an experiment really. 🍻
Serious heat this week has seen Fruit Spirit kept away from direct sun for the most part. These are not the months to be trying to bring seedlings through in my region. I will remember this for next year. Slow going at this stage 🍻
Another slow week for Fruit Spirit. Some damage to the leaves possibly due to my overwatering because of this dam heat. I have just repotted into an ultra premium potting mix because the organic was providing nothing in the way of stimulation and nourishment for the seedling. Hopefully she will recover with a bit of a more stable weather pattern for the week.
Finally some action this week for Fruit spirit. This has easily been the best week yet and she is looking lovely and deep green. The weather has been kinder, but mostly it is the move to the premium soil mix that has helped, although she sulked for a few days after the move. As much as I want to keep everything organic, the organic potting mix is sheer rubbish and it was a big mistake to use it. She will be ready for her first topping this week. Hoping to at least get a few more weeks of veg as the days now shorten in length 🍻
This is a tough little plant considering nothing has gone right for it so far. Although small for its age I still rate the durability of this strain. As a seedling it endured shit potting mix, severe heat and humidity. Upon transplanting, there was some root damage which stalled her. Then when she finally got going I topped her, only for it to go straight into flowering! Hairs already appearing, so I don’t have any expectations here. However she looks really healthy and nice, and I will learn from this one and have a proper crack at fruit spirit next season. 🍻
Fruit spirit is a really pretty looking plant, and starting to bush out even though flowering is well underway. Lovely deep green with lime bursts around the buds and fat, broad Indica looking leaves. I tied it down for the week with a home made tent peg and it has really helped to fill out the plant. I know it’s late for training but if I just leave it I will get nothing, due to it flowering at such a small size. A small defoliation, and final LST with home made tie downs now, to expose as much of the new growth as possible. From here on I just wait and see. Keeping expectations low on this one. 🍻
Fruit spirit is healthy, but it appears to have stopped growing much and is now just slowly bulking up buds. This one won’t be a producer really but more of an experiment. I think I missed an opportunity to extend the veg period, but I will learn from that. With this in mind, I think I may still be able to grow through the winter in my climate, as long as I extend the light period daily by bringing inside with the light on for a few hours each night. 🍻
I am glad I persisted with Fruit Spirit. Although it won’t yield much, it has already exceeded my expectations and is healthy and popping out a few half decent buds still. Smells really nice already,, nice deep green leaves really close together and bright white pistils make her a really pretty plant to watch. I can imagine at full size fruit spirit would need maintenance to keep it in order. Looking forward to having a proper go with this one next season. Cheers 🍻
Fruit spirit smells just unreal. It’s a shame I couldn’t get this one going a bit better earlier in the year as I would love to have more of this one, but even though it’s small in quantity, it seems like it’s gonna be beautiful to taste. After I touch it, my fingers smell like I just touched bubble gum. Really sweet and now starting to get a bit of punch. Next season I really look forward to getting a decent one of these going 🍻
Fruit spirit is finished and ready in 10 weeks. This one won’t provide much in the way of yield, so will just have to wait and see if it was all worth it. Looks nice and smells really good. Next report will be harvest and smoke, she’s on the rack now. 🍻
Fruit spirit is a nice strong tasting smoke good for sitting back for a movie at night. The plant is visually beautiful to watch grow, and although it was small, it was through my own doing, and a tough late season heat wave. It has good resistance to pests and at least survived in extreme heat and humidity when other seedlings at the time didn’t make it. I really look forward to having a much better go at Fruit Spirit next season. 🍻
Well, this one didn’t turn out as hoped, but was still worth keeping in the end, nearly a quarter of some pretty nice bud. This girl just never got a chance to get going properly with horrid weather, poor soil and tipping so late in the season. I pretty much did everything wrong, but it hung in where other seedlings at the time didn’t make it. Grower takes all the blame on this one. Still I love the visual appeal of the plant, really deep green with wide leaves and tight nub like buds. I am committed to getting this one right next time around, and believe the fruit spirit can end up one of the classics next time. 🍻
Can you just drag her to veg for a couple more weeks?
I use porch light or fence light. Pistils will still be there. However, a couple of weeks more in veg will get you a lot more flowers.
@Shooey, I think certain cannabis genetics, Thai especially, has two pairs of chromosomes. Really screw the sex expression.
In stead of xx for female and xy for male, you can get xxxx / xxxy / xxyy / and xyyy.
I think the xxxy appears as female but changes sex under stress.
For me, I extend vegging many time with my fence light. It is only 20 E and at 3 meters away.
I think there is no issue with stable strains.
@Med_in_Tropic, right!? I didn’t know that med,,.. I’m guessing that is from messsing with environmental cues?? Still I think it’s worth a try if I am disciplined in exposing to light the same amount of time each night. At least for a few weeks anyway,, it is worth the experiment for sure. Cheers med 🍻
@Shooey Hi mate you can trick it into staying in veg with a few of those white coloured Solar garden lights . Let them charge in the sun during the day and they'll come on at dusk
so if you put them close to plant that should be enough to inhibit flowering to start. Worth a try mate
@Grey_Wolf, Gday wolf. That’s interesting, I didn’t really think about it but it’s a good idea and well worth a try. I might check out Bunnings this week. Cheers mate
Pretty little lady you got there. Fantastic work my friend. Keep it up and may the ganja garden gods bless you along the way with this grow and all future endeavors as well
