So, these are actually 2 months old, but due to a combination of it being my first indoor grow, bad ph levels, knockoff LEDs, and too high of temperatures from new HIDs, they were severely stunted. They have a good root base and have just really decided to out my diary back online. See how it goes.

Getting back on track with growth and learning my plants. Lots of growth but it is hard to LST now as most of its branches are thicker, have to just keep re-grabbing the top growth every day.

White Rhino and OG Kush both seem very bushy and constantly require tieing down and defoiling. Though my blueberry seems like a lot less maintenance, it also doesnt seem like a very pretty plant. Thinking once the plants grow up a bit from their last defoil, I will be setting up the Scrog net across and start filing it up. Pretty much at my limit with these flexible ties. March 21 - Have set up my scrog net, just starting to feel a bit useful now, seems like I will enjoy this much more than constantly trying down. Have given them some bloom nutes as they seemed to be having a few deficiencies come up, but any more NPK was making them claw.

March 25 - So I am very happy with the plants progress. Noticed a slight micronutrient deficiency early. Since my flush the soil needed to be replenished with the nutes in my bloom mix. (Which I wasnt giving much of) I plan to have about 10-15 bud sites, and taking 4-6 clones of each plant, whatever stems seem the weakest before the stretch, allowing about 9 main colas on each. After chatting to fellow growers, I have decided to do a defoilation and just give it some more time. I took special care this defoil on my OG Kush which was getting uncontrollably bushy, to try and knuckle all the growth tips under like an inch from the tip to encourage growth at the top. As they are still in veg and so THICK they should recover fine. If after a week they really dont stretch more, I just may say to hell with him and have 4 colas. March 27 - Since the major defoiling on lower leaves and knuckling up most of the lower nodes, there has been a lot of upward/outward growth. Have done defoiling once more at the start of today and cut off any future growth tips. Should be leave it alone for awhile now and let it stretch and strengthen a bit more before flowering. Have also raised the screen, and swapped plant pot locations in an attempt to force some growth in other directions. Also a few extra colas I'm keeping that are hidden underneath to turn into clones. March 29 - Have readjusted my net for 33% smaller holes. Added more holes to push down close together branches. I am now starting to push the tops down more aggressively to grow along horizontally. Going to starting leaving all leaves to fill in nice and have more foliage to help hold branches over in Scrog.

How do you deal with a genetically bushy strain, especially if you plan to ScrOG? Do you knuckle up all nodes but the tips, then LST? Or let him grow and give him time? (My OG Kush needs some advice)
Solved
Leaves. Too many
Plant. Spaces between nodes

Ok you have been starting very well on your Girls training looks good. You just have to go on with them. And yes choosing the right genetics is a big point in scrogging. I failed with my choice . I had misty gorilla and it was quite impossible to mainline them. The branches were so sturdy and the leaves so robust. I gave up on them. ! plant was aC-99... and she was great to this job. I ended in giving up and let them grow like they wanted to^^.( diary: See-99 Gorillas in the Mist) In your case its a good start, you may perform it a little longer and go on training, and defoilating them. And in my opinion your scrognet is suboptimal. To big holes in it... look for scrog that has 6-cm holes, but alltoghether girls look fine just keepon training

April 1 - Really good growth, have let it fill in some which gave it more leaves to help hold down the tops really. Thinking I will start flowering this week as I hope I finished the last configuration of my tent. I want to take a few clones and set up a light proof area with an LED to attempt to keep them growing until these are done. April 4th - I have taken a few clones that I really dont see becoming main colas due to their current growth. So I have taken shorter clones (3-4") In Hope's it will take longer to grow and will last longer in a new cloning area I made for 4-6 weeks while these plants finish flowering. Took 9 clones in total. April 6 - Have switched to 12/12 lighting, leaving the bulb and height the same for now. April 7 - Have swapped my MH 600w out for HPS 600w. Leaving the light at the same height for now to see how my plants react to the new heat/light.

April 8 - Now have my 600W HPS light in at 18 inch height and 12 hours of light. Surprisingly the temperature didnt really go up due to lowered height. More steady lower temp. Planning to give a transitional amount of nutrients for the next week before the regular flowering nutrient schedule. April 10 - I have shuffled the plants around as I expect the blueberry and white Rhino to be the stretchers to fill in the empty spaces while the OG Kush I'll be lucky to keep spaced apart enough. April 14 - Continuing to water every 2 days, 500mL, the second feeding gets nutes. (Still wet on second day but dries by the next day and slightly wilting. Maybe feed less but every day?) Rotating the pots and positions to get the most use of my screen to keep branches under and stretching. OG Kush remains stubborn and unwilling to stretch. Expecting more like 8 colas from her

April 15 - Have started bloom nutrient combo this week. Seeing lots of upward motion, I still just keep filling in the screen. Lots of pistils and flowers starting. Nothing special to report. Have up'd their water this week and they are handling 500mL each per day fine. Every second day is nutrients.

April 23 - Day 64 - Plants seem very healthy. Due to my setup I am finding it a bit warm for them, but at 18 inch height, even with a 6 inch fan blowing air past the bulb and out, the tent holds heat pretty good. Still 24 really isnt that bad. April 27 - Have done a VERY LIGHT defoilation at Day 20 of flowering start, in an attempt to show every flower some light and keep everything else, allowing them to fatten up.

April 30 - Nothing special to report. Wondering if anyone would like to share their personal preferences for certain flowering care; 1) Should I defoil more to allow more air flow? Or does this look good for now? Worry about stripping the plants nutrients away from it. 2) Airflow directly on buds this early? Seems to be drying out the pistols which I don't really need right now. May 2 - Thanks for the help :) Have been very selectively picking a few fan leaves that majorly interfere. The rest left alone. Have been noticing a little bit of what "looks" like a rusty powder on all 3 of my plants but doesn't rub off. All around mid range on the plant, closer to top. I decided it was calcium deficiency and noticed a possible magnesium deficiency as well. Both of these having higher pH lockouts. Have been giving them 6.0-6.5 (usually always 6.25 pH). Maybe in coco coir this has been locking them out. Giving one day of 7.0, then 6.5 for a few and see what happens before changing diet. Thoughts? May 5 - Have checked for leaf septoria, thankfully doesn't seem like it. Have cut 1 leaf for better inspection. Continuing to add 6.5pH water, am also thinking if this doesn't do it, it may still be calcium deficiency; but may be due to me using coco coir and no cal/mag additive. Have added more airflow and lowered humidity in the grow room as well.

(Check diary for more details) Thinking calcium deficiency, also maybe magnesium deficiency on a few low yellowed leaves. Thinking it could be nutrient lockout? Feeding them 6.25 pH always. Gonna try 7.0 once and 6.5 for awhile. Thoughts anyone? Im still fairly new and learning

Looks like calcium to me as well.. I've had similar when i used tap-water in the past, but it hasn't appeared anymore since i've been using RO water with added calmag. I suggest reading through this guide here: https://www.mandalaseeds.com/Guides/Fertilizing-Smart-Guide This has helped me in the past quite a lot in regards to how much i need to feed and at what levels.

May 7 - I have started feeding Calmag to the plants as a deficiency popped up. Otherwise in good health. Planning to get rid of my shitty "clone zone" that was kept in the grow tent in a separate chamber. First time cloner, havnt been able to get anything to stay alive yet. Gonna try more this summer but for now, utilize the tent space. Also going to re-scrog the whole tent, space slightly more apart and try to open them up a little more. Blueberry has been taking on a blue hue for a number of leaves. I also hoped they would of stretched more, seem short but I mean if they get big buds idgaf lol May 11 - Took screen off for rearranging my grow space, snapped a few pics. Looking nicer, but getting sick of yellow photos. May start going in a few minutes earlier before lights turn on and bring a full color light to get some decent pictures. May 12 - Finished rearranging tent, screen back down, pictures attempted with a real light. Gonna try to get better at macro settings and a few backdrops for pictures.

May 14 - The assumed "calcium deficiency" has intensified with the lower leaves, drying them out and cracking them, and have moved up the plants. Getting concerned as I started calmag supplementing a week ago with a good dosages and 6.3ph and I see no improvement. Either this takes some time to kick in, or there is something else wrong. This is affecting all 3 plants in my grow space, one more severe than the rest. Under the possibility of it being rust fungus, I have chopped the infected leaves and overall did a big defoil. I know this late you shouldn't, but my first defoil wasn't big enough for air flow anyways and if they get mold it will be 100x worse. Took screen off for a day, snapped lots of pictures of the girls/leaf symptoms. We are starting week 7 of flowering and want get this under control quickly so I can still flush my plants before harvest. Anyone have any thoughts or tips? Thinking it could be phosphorus defciency after more research. If so I hope its not too late. May 17 - The rusting has intensified more each day, cracking some leaves. The white Rhino is the worst. The rest I have started feeding my nutrient formula for blooming, for 1 day, roughly 1.4L liquid per plant, (previously at 0.7L liquid per plant) and the next day for 1.4L cal/mag water, both at 6.2pH. I never check my runoff pH nor do I even water enough to runoff. (Not sure if I should be) But did today with the white rhino and its runoff pH is 6.11 so thats pretty good. Still confused by this issue. Hopefully they finish up before this grips them much harder.

May 21 - Day 92- Starting week 7 of flowering. Have switched to straight 6.2pH runoff water the past few days. Even though the rust problem persists, I'm getting to close to the end to bother feeding more nutrients just to flush. In an effort to rectify whatever the issue was, each day I have the plants a 15L flush with 6.1pH runoff water. Each ran off with the proper pH. (Don't have a ppm meter but may have been too high) Seems to have slowed the rust enough for now. The girls are looking visibly frostier than a few days ago. I would say 85% milky. Still no sight of Amber's on anything. Blueberry was supposed to be 8-10 weeks, White Rhino and OG Kush 7 weeks. Starting the 7th week now, Blueberry seems like it will be at 7-8 though. Took them upstairs in the natural sunlight for a photoshoot, but mostly to check trichrome colors. May 24 - Checking daily for ambers, prepared to chop whenever. Hoping sooner rather than later, and hoping blueberry will be ready to go as well. May 25 - 7 weeks of flowering done today, have taken the girls out in the sun for another photoshoot. Looks all ready to go. After today it will be getting 48 hours of darkness and no water. Was debating ice water twice during this period, but with less evidence backing it, and hearing how some people don't give water for up to a week beforehand, I may opt out of this one.

I'm happy considering the testing and learning I did through these plants suffering. This strain grew very well, and if I could have vegged it slightly longer, and I ended up with a few issues at once I blame partially on coco coir not holding nutrients well, and partial on me for not dialing into my plants soon. I think they would have been fatter if they had more nutes while flowering, and if I kept a more consistent temp they would be denser.

Very dense nugs. But mine didn't really crystal up the leaves well so a lot was barren, may have been my fault, God knows.
