First day in the tent! I have a CFL setup in place right now just to keep the plants alive and healthy until the real light comes in 2 days. The real light will be a Mars Hydro TS 600w. They're currently just in peat moss but I'm building Kis Organics water only soil recipe today and should have them all transplanted into 5-gallon pots within the next week. I'm hella hyped to get this grow going!

Things aren't looking too great at the moment. I mixed the soil 5 days ago but I'm still waiting for it to cool off :/ hopefully I can get them into pots withing the next few days cuz they're starting to lack nutrients pretty bad. I also topped the two mimosas and have been bending down one of the purple punch's but with all the stress of moving into soil and lacking nutrients, I'm starting to think this wasn't a great decision. This is the only time I wish I grew with bottled nutes lol. The soil recipe is just kis organics recipe: half peat moss, 1/3 pumice, the rest compost, then with the dry amendment nutrient pack added in.

All 4 plants are looking much better. Still a little deficient on CalMag but they're getting more and more green by the day. I also started a seed in a small cup just to see what happens. I think it's either cookies or Tahoe platinum but it's also reg so possibly a male. I threw in a ScrOG net and am gunna try to keep them this around this height so they have up to 9 inches to stretch during flower. They're definitely starting to show some good growth, I'm hoping I'll have most of the ScrOG filled out in 2 weeks and then flip to flower but that's probably wishful thinking.

Definitely getting some good growth and looking a lot greener. Looks like they have some light stress even though they're 20 inches from the light but I can't raise it any higher so I guess I'll just hold on and hope for the best in flower. I'm planning to flip to 12/12 a week from today as by then they'll have filled out a decent amount of the scrog.

1st day of flower! It turned out my dumbass had the timer turned off the whole time so far so no wonder they were getting toasted. Also, my iPower temp and humidity meter broke so now I'm using analogs but I have a new digital one on the way. My temps are looking a little too low and my humidity is getting a little high so I ordered a small heater to fix both problems. Otherwise, they're looking pretty good but definitely could be better.

Looking pretty good. I got a heater in the tent so temps and humidity are looking better. Tent is looking pretty filled in. Watering is hard to do without getting water all over the leaves so in a week or two once they finish stretching and start to fill in I think I will take out the scrog and put in stakes instead.

Grow Questions

Why are my leaf tips getting bleached still? I have the light 18 inches from the canopy which is what is recommended for veg, and that's only around 400umol/m2s but the leaf tips keep burning. Temps are low if anything, consistently between 65 and 75 farenheight.

I had a plant with a calcium problem that bleached under the lights but that was more complete yellowing. Calcium can cause that though it seemed weird. So that is out there. It does kind of look like nuet burn but is found on the top leaves closest to the light while the bottom seem unaffected, the opposite of what would be expected. So maybe add some cal-mag good luck

Looking pretty solid. No complaints accept high humidity during the nights. It gets up to 70+% which puts them at high risk of powdery mildew etc. I took out the heater cuz it was making it too warm. I'm ordering a small dehumidifier so hopefully, that helps with the nighttime humidity. The punch already looks like it's going to want to finish sooner. The GSC or Tahoe Platinum seedling is coming along real slow, I'm guessing it wont even show sex for another two weeks. I'll probably just end up throwing it out but who knows.

This week everything kinda came together. I got a dehumidifier so humidity is mostly in check. Everything is dialed in so hopefully it will be a smooth ride from here on out. The plant from seed ended up being a male but it was going to be shaded out anyways.

Looking good, buds are filling in nicely. Already putting on some frost. I can tell the purple punch wants to finish a lot faster than the mimosa but I've also heard it looks ready earlier than it really is. I'm leaving town for a week so hopefully nothing goes wrong in that time. I dropped the lights to 11/13 cuz I want a faster finish.

Left town for a week and luckily when I returned the plants were still rockin. I was definitely worried about PM with my high humidity but no issues are noticable other than being a little thirsty. Already frosting up, will probably come down in 2ish weeks.

Everything looks good besides one of the purple punches which looks like it's having some kind of issues maybe nutrient lockout? The plant is lightening up all over and a fair amount of leaves are curling up and turning brown before they even fade. I'm not really worried about it though because I am planning to chop in a week, as soon as I get back in town. They'll probably be a little early but I'm on a slight time constraint and want a good 10+ days for the cure. Plus I like that sativa head high so no amber trichs is fine by me.

Well I came back from a week away and decided to chop. One of the purple punch plants was almost dead from what looks to me like nitrogen toxicity. Everything else definitely could've gone a couple weeks more but I want to dry everything together and they were all ready enough to go. I kinda wish the plants got more of a fade but I am on a slight time constraint and I'm not sure of they would have ever faded as the soil seemed a little high on nitrogen throughout the grow.

Any ideas as to what caused the leaves on 1 of the 4 plants to wilt up and kinda die? I was thinking maybe nitrogen toxicity but this is a full organic, water only grow, so nutrient toxicity is kinda unlikely. Also worth noting some branches were affected before, and more heavily

Like the others said. Light burn from what I see. And I know it's just the one plant out of four but she could just be a little sensitive. Flush and back off the LEDs or move the plant off to the side so it's not directly under the light.

Decent grow overall. I wish I could've given the plants a couple more weeks to finish up and show some color but the quality still came out great. The yeild was a little lower than expected for sure but the quality makes up for it.

One of the plants started dying at week 4 of flower, I'm not really sure why. The other plant came out frost as hell but was the smallest of all my plants. I'm assuming it would've turned purple had I gave it another couple weeks in flower but the smoke is still fantastic.

... question, how did you start the no-till pots? You made the switch but didn't mention the pot switch... benefits? Thanks!

@420pete, Hi and thanks! I may try this type of setup for my next attempt... I like the idea of setting the nutrition at the beginning and letting it 'live'... So much talk of nutrition and fertilizer, hard to know what to use/not. Thanks again, Best!

420petecommented5 years ago
@Growery, I mixed the soil at week 1 which is made up of peat moss, pumice for aeration, compost, and kis organics dry amendment blend. once everything was mixed I gave the soil a week or so to cool off and turned it over every other day as the organic matter breaking down makes the soil very hot at first. After it cooled to room temperature I put in in pots, planted the cover crop, and covered with barley straw for mulch. Once the pots were ready, I put in the clones which previously were growing in just peat moss with no nutrients. I would say the main benefits are 1) its fully organic so smoother and more flavorful 2) all you have to do is water- no need to worry about measuring nutrients and whatnot 3) the mulch/cover crop prevents evaporation so less watering and it keeps the microbes alive to fee your plant. hope you find this informative, keep up the good work!

What’s your opinion on KIS organics? I’m currently attempting to grow in KIS organics with biochar soil. Any advice ? What did you ph your soil at?
420pete
420petecommented5 years ago
@Mrs420, honestly I'm not really sure yet. For me it seems like it might have a little too much nutrients off the bat because throughout the grow I noticed slight signs of nitrogen toxicity. I made my own soil mix though from their nutrient pack and I've only heard good things about their biochar mix so I think you should be good. Genererally you don't have to pH your soil with organics as the life in the soil acts as a pH buffer and will make sure the pH is in a good range.
