Tuning in the Blumat tropf with goal of moisture meter reading ~100. Still worried about using the tap as water source since I'm pretty sure the pH is too high. A couple sources say the soil should buffer water pH so much that monitoring it is not necessary. I want that to be the answer, of course, since it is less work. And because I put so much effort and money toward getting the tap connection right. (That's sunk cost fallacy, though, right?!) For now I will judge based on health of the plants but since they're autoflower I know any disruption (such as from alkaline soil limiting nutrient uptake) can be difficult to recover from. My first Grow Question was about the pH of water in a reservoir, should I switch to that from the tap. If I fill it with tap water then ensure the pH is correct will that pH remain stable? I think one answer seemed to think I was asking about stability of the reservoir construction/fittings. Instead, I'm asking about stability of pH'd water in a reservoir: how much does it drift over time? How often would I need to keep checking/adjusting it? The alkalinity of the tap water from what I can find online is 'hard water' which I think means decent buffering ability which in this context would help pH remain stable? Shouldn't the reservoir have water bubbling in it? That would increase the pH, though, right? I guess just setting up a reservoir and checking and measuring will give me answers but I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks! Day 17 (night of April 11): I switched the Blumat tropf water source from the tap to a reservoir of water pH'd to ~6. Made sure to bleed the line of air. We'll see if there's a difference. BTW, the moisture meter today read 160 so I loosened things up a bit on the carrots. The leaves did look a bit dry, with mild cupping. Day 18, moisture meter was 190-ish.... Opened up those carrots and raised the lights a bit. pH closer to 7. Left it there but tonight will check and lower it again I'm guessing. I really don't want to do the soil pH measuring process, which from what I read should be combining soil with distilled water and shaking, letting settle, filtering then checking that water. Hopefully the plants will start looking super-happy and I'll continue the idea it won't be needed. Day 19, evening, moisture meter was 111; pretty close to where I'd like it. Still using water reservoir instead of tap. This morning the pH was still around 7; I lowered it closer to 5 and it's about the same this evening. Didn't do any more LST or anything. Waiting for more plant soft wire to be delivered. I'm satisfied with how they're growing so far. Day 20, evening, moisture meter was 199; I loosened the carrot. Continue to use water reservoir; pH tonight was right about 6. Received shipment of plant tie soft wire stuff and did more LST. Raised light a bit after. Coloring overall seems better with pH'd water; not sure why that one leaf was all messed up. Here's a question: Anyone have advice on LST and/or defoliation at this point, based on the pictures? Day 21, carrot too loose! Soil too wet on Plant 1 and Plant 5, moisture meter on Plant 1 was 22. Tightened back up. pH of water in reservoir still good, around 6. Tomorrow is beginning of Week 4!

That's my guess for now. I was going to use Blumat Tropf hooked up to tap but house water seems too basic. Only way I can think of remedying is to hook Blumat Tropf up to reservoir and make sure the water in it is the appropriate pH. Will that be stable?

Making sure you're watering at the right ph is indeed very important. out of range and the plants can't uptake the nutrients. After a few correctly ph'd watering you should see some improvements

Hello buddy... first advice for the futur, keep in mind that more you give lot of informations, better are the possibilities for u to have good answer and better diagnosis. this plant is so complex sometimes that it could be difficult to be precise for a grower to answer you properly. 👍 your nutes schedule for example is strongly recommend to indicate... is your led has a dimmer ? how work your watering system ? solution ? with a pump ? settings ?....etc etc without these elements....it is more a "crystal ball" diagnosis 😏....if i were near you on your tent i could be 100% affirmative...so you told that u keep the pH to a good range ok but.... i noticed some indexs..... are you sure of your pump watering settings ? i mean now they seems droopy.... it could be one raison wich can explain a lot of others. auto's are much more sensistive/fragile to all stresses than photos or regulars ! so too much water, or a soil too much wet all the time can slow down the growth....due to the lack of oxygen in root..... and it is a vicious circle.....😷 😜 cause if you feed her, she will loose habilities to absorb correctly some elements and micro elements and she will go to a lock out process (on your leaves and on others plants in your tent )...etc etc....try to let roots breathe a bit.... in other hand if your led is a 453W (from the wall ?) and you didn't have dimm it correctly of you dont have any dimmer....the right height must be find....to ensure a grow a bit better taller..... branches and main stem need a lot of water to be build 😏... don' t hesitate to mp me if you want to give me more information... lst is a good thing to do a low stress training but u have to be effective on the overall growth of the plant.....to ensure the best yield at the end! i am not an adept of defoliation due to the very specific short cycle of autos (only in the case of fluxing techs)...... especially for the flowering time. the leaves acts as a tank for nitrogen and semi/mobiles nutrients. you have to know that when she starts to flo the plant loose their habilities to properly/ totaly absorb N....and leaves can be a good partner if you dont feed correctly at the veg stage.... a lollipoping is to my point of view the only thing to do to ensure a better concentration of energy on upper buds.... the last advice i can give you if u don't know it already.....is to have a good soil mix ! auto's most of the time have low demands than photos especially in veg stage....u have to cut your light soil for example with coco or perlite or vermiculite....or a mix of tree.....u cut close to 40%.... even 50%..... depend of knowedge of the strain needs....it will ensure you a better penetration of roots and a bigger plant.... when the flow starts go easy with nutes from the beginning to mid flow....after that u can use more pk hope this help 👊 Happy growing buddy

Your pH is too Deep, ist should be at 6.5-6.8. How are your cal/mag values in the Water without nutritions?

Other than today which has unlimited Grow Questions to celebrate 4/20, we have three Grow Questions? Is that per grow diary? Three Open questions at a time or three whether Open or Answered. If only 3 Open then if they're answered do the three open back up even if same diary?

Hey dagwood!! first off from what I read above I would at least give them 2 hours or dark a day if not 4 I find to get better results with that. give the plants a lil rest. it also looks to have something to do with your watering system, either it is overwatering. or not enough but I'd lean more to the over watering due to where you said the "lightest" one looked the best. it's good to let them dry out like that before they get another watering. Also looks like a slight nitrogen deficiency nothing much tho so I personally would bump up your base nute just a tid bit like where your running 1.25mL/gal Id go up to 2 or 2.25 and see if that helps if it does not then go just a little more just try not to over do it lol hope this helps Happy Growing an Plentiful Harvests🙏

Is flushing the last two weeks something that really affects flavor/quality of harvested flower? Consensus among websites support it as real.... (But plenty of commonly held beliefs such as you shouldn't swim within 30 minutes after eating aren't true.)

Hey i Know this grow is old, But i think i can help u avoid future problems... your VPD (vapor pressure defecit) is really high for all stages. These sites that say lower humidity is good to rule out mold dont take into account plant transpiration at different temp/RH combinations... For example, you could counter the really low humidity by removing more heat and cutting down airflow slightly if conditions are very windy... Cannabis can tolerate dry conditions but only at low temps, it seems you were actually potentially not watering enough since your environmental conditions wick so much moisture out of the air around the plant and the medium... It also seems that you have a lot of perlite, which will further hinder your grow mediums ability to retain moisture. hope this helps

If I adjust the pH of the reservoir to 5.8 then will it remain there or drift upwards? Any way to minimize fluctuations?

@dagwood, If you are using ANY organic like Recharge in the res then yeah its going to change as the organics start playing with each other. Do you use Recharge all the time?
