So I had to chop her today. Wish I could’ve flushed her for another week but times up. She still packed on some good density and smells like caramel. Very sticky also. Time to hang and dry.
Definitely getting some aggressive growth with these girls. Gonna defoliate in a few days because it’s getting tight in there. The one in coco is under two citizen 1825 Cobs running at 2amps each. Dwc is under my Kind k5 diy
@BigDaddyK,each cob was around $30 and the boards were $75. Everything else was existing. I mean you can DIY yours for A couple hundred dollars. Most of my stuff came from reusing other lights that I made. I mean the initial purchase of the light was very expensive but instead of just leaving it in the corner I figured I can get some more life out of it.
@BigDaddyK, basically just modified the faceplate and put one cob per driver. Also put a couple quantum boards on the existing drivers. My other kind hack I actually put a meanwell driver in and took an existing driver out. Wasn’t that difficult. I think the Kind is a good light but they just went cheap on the diode’s. Nothing a little diy can’t fix ;)
@Jupiter401, That's awesome! I was telling @greendiamond that DWC has always scared me since I Killed off a crop of ladies but that I'm okay with soil grows and they can be just as vigorous! Great work Broski!
The more I look at these two , I'm thinking they are going to get heavy , might be an idea to add some silicon to stop the branches snapping , it has a big effect , maybe you are going to yoyo , what's your plan ?
@Jupiter401,it's the burn test , the weed burns perfect and leaves no residue ,and I have had the best tasting weed , ever , with that and the OOZE , I'm not so keen on the terpinator , it burnt my plants , twice , you will notice the difference , especially in DWC - round here I buy RO water for 5p a litre .
@BigDaddyK,wow that’s crazy and that’s a big ass pot lol. Never tried anything that big. Yeah I normally flush with filtered water but never tried ro. I do know someone that flushes with Fiji water but never Thought to try it. Might have to give it a whirl. What’s it increase the taste?
@Jupiter401,I have a tube on the side , but I raise my buckets on top of another bucket so gravity empties , I also have a hole to fill , if it went legal there is a guy in here who has a 700 litre system , pump feed , 4 inch tubes , 65 litre pots . Looks the nuts , having said that I can also show you 17 ounces from one auto under 320 watt leds , in 33 litre buckets , one last thing , flushing with RO water really makes a difference .
J,
What did you do to my Kind K5?!! I am shocked. ;-) I guess the Kind drivers are good for cobs also? How is it working out for you? Are you getting a good light spread?
Loving your diary, btw. Congrats. Your plants are looking great.
@Mr_Positivo, thanks man Growmau5 got me started. Said I should diy a kind because there would be great interest in it. Far as which one is better it’s tough to say because they’re all great performers. I think the all cobs has definitely produced some monsters. That one is geared toward 3500-4000k. The one with the boards are more towards 3000-2700k which is great for flower. My plants tend to stay shorter underneath that one. Both lights have to be dialed down because they are too intense. I like the idea of cobs and boards combined just maybe not so many packed into a small space. Either way the amount of light produced is tremendous.
@Jupiter401, Thanks for the ref. J. I had fun checking out your instagram photos. Great work. You're quite the handyman. In the mould of Growmaus, no doubt. Which hack is working the best for you? Curious. Are you getting better results with boards or cobs?
Thanks bro.
@Mr_Positivo,thanks man. Yeah the spread is great. The driver work fine. Not as efficient as a meanwell but definitely do the job. This is my 4th Kind hack. I did 2 k3 and 2 k5 lol. Gotta check out my instagram... I have them on there “Jupiter401”.
Nice nugs! 🌳 I'm interested to see your results in comparison b/w the coco and DWC. I've been experimenting w/ those methods as well, but for this latest run I'm using Roots Organics Original mix, so basically a coco/soil blend. Been a fan of their coco and soil lines for a few years now. What brand of coco are you using? Check my mix run 2018 sometime if you'd like... there's a couple GBs along with some others. Good luck with your flush/harvest.👍 KeepOnGrowing! 🌱
@biggreens420, they’re about equal but it’s my first DWC and I’m going pretty conservative with all my nutrients. The coco I’m familiar with so I can push her harder. We’ll see but I have to start flush a little early so I can break down the room.
Looking absolutely beautiful. I use those very same containers to store my unused equipment. I think you've found a nicer purpose for them. Nice work :D
