Day 1-3 Germinated two seeds from RQS in some damp tissue in a dark drawer. Day 3 Planted into all purpose compost. Placed onto a sunny windowsill. Day 4-7 Nice daily growth. I’m optimistic. Seem to enjoy the scorching sunshine that we are having here. I’m using egg boxes for the seedlings, partially because I haven’t purchased anything else and partly because I feel like I’m doing my part to save the environment.

Contemplating slipping a Northern Lights Auto amongst my tomatoes in my garden. I’ve heard auto’s only grow to around a foot so I’m assuming this is workable? With a tactical miniature poly tunnel?

It’s definitely workable to keep low but under a foot without any training is very unlikely, I’m only a noob but if like to say you’d get atleast a 1M high plant. I say go for it worst that’ll happen is you’ll have to relocate it if too big.

Day 7-14 Not much to report. Both seedlings are growing but very gradually. I assume the majority of the growth is currently in the root system. One seedling has a wonky root (initially grew up instead of down) which means it’s not quite as proudly erect as the other but not too big an issue. For future reference, I have named them Patrick (strong erection) and Susan (wonky root). Perhaps my fault for germinating them in the tissue and tampering with Mother Nature...

Day 14-21 Repotted both Patrick and Susan. Patrick’s new home is a 5l and Susan has a 20l. I’d like to see the difference between the two. Susan (previously know as “wonky root” is now taking the lead in terms of growth. However still both very small.

I am going to be transplanting to an outside location. What is the opinion on needing to fertilise the soil before the transplant? I’m under the impression that if the area is littered with brambles then the soil is already ideal?

Well its good for brambles at least. Means the soil will support a plant not that its GOOD soil. Dont plant cannabis anywhere you would not plant tomatoes, they have similar needs. I assume a stealth grow, if you can prepare the hole with good potting soil, 5 gallons should do it. You want your plant growing in the best soil you can get. Add amendments as you would in a pot. Good luck.

Is there such a thing as too long a veg period? With Mother Nature these puppies wont be ready to harvest until mid-October. Which will be a total of 7 months unless I intervene.

Hi @Hoesay Yes it is normal in nature. you will be able to induce it to flower earlier but you will have to have a closed space and without light to place the plant in the period without light, you will have to repeat the process from 12h to 12h which ends up giving a lot of work. good luck mate 👍

Unfortunately a complete week of overcast weather. No real days of direct sunlight. However both plants are still growing gradually. I’m going to start using the waste water from my aquarium to water them this way I won’t fall into the trap of overfeeding. Looking to the future I am going to have to force them to flower. However trying to block out all light from an outside area that receives a lot of sun is going to be tricky. Hopefully they are not too sensitive.

This week has been horrific. A storm destroyed the green house both plants were kept in. Both were scattered across the garden, roots pretty damaged. I gently (as I could) repotted them. The pictures are after 6 days of being re-potted. They are just pulling themselves together again. Another week of very little growth. However the new leaves are starting to come through now. Hopefully we get some better weather although speed isn’t an issue as we have another 5 months until they will be ready to harvest naturally.

Finally had a decent amount of sun for four sequential days. Really made a difference to both plants. Susan was exploding into life. I have topped her and gently applied a bit of LST. I’ve read that untrained this genetic can reach 3m? Both plants seem a lot healthier. Lots of leaves starting to grow and should be exciting from here on. Not many diaries with Special Kush on here so I’m really interested in trying to get a really big harvest. Ive got lots of time. Is it worth repotting Susan now or let her continue in the 5l pot for another couple of weeks?

I was thinking of taking some clones from the plant as it progresses. I saw lots of people using Root riot cubes? Or is there a better way?

Hello, So there's definitely many ways to get clones. But for me using some rooting powder and a cube or peat pod have been the most successful. I have one in just a plain water cup that was dipped in rooting gel and I'm doing a test to see how fast it can root compared with the clippings in cubes. If you want to get almost a 100% guarantee though, I'd stick with the riot/peat cubes. And definitely pickup some sort of root hormone, either powder or gel. Have fun cloning.✌️

Trimmed Patrick pretty heavily. This is my first ever grow so I literally just followed a picture on google. Once recovered will transplant into the ground. Just before the trim he was getting very bushy, very quickly. Should have taken some pictures. Will top Susan this week.

I stuck Patrick into a PVC greenhouse and left him alone. Reduced the amount of water he is receiving. He seems to be relishing life. Susan has been left outside, exposed to the elements and pests and is a bit scraggly. She was always a bit of a funny one. She got topped this week so is still recovering. I’d rather they didn’t end up huge as they are in my garden yet I’m also too attached to release them to the wild.. What. To. Do.

So this week we said goodbye to Patrick. He has been transplanted to a wild location. Bit sad as he was by far the healthiest plant that I had. At the same time, the most likely to survive in the wild. I should have taken pictures but I was trying to keep a very low profile. I will let the nettles grow a little more and then track back to update for next week. Weather has turned atrocious. Susan on the other hand is as scraggly as ever. Still growing gradually.

Miserable weather this week. I will check back in on Patrick in his new guerilla home soon. So this weeks progress is just Susan. I’ll keep it short, she ain’t doing well.

Both plants have been transplanted to wild locations. I didn’t pre organise decent compost. The shame... Next year I absolutely will do this properly. So in the meantime here’s an update on the NL auto that I asked info about chucking in with my tomatoes. It’s 7 weeks old and taking over the greenhouse which is 3m-2m-1m. It’s having to be tied down to stop it from hitting the roof. Started to preflower. It’s looking crazy healthy. I topped it, sugar cropped it and now I’m tying down the colas. I’m not going to defoliate any more. It’s by far the healthiest plant I have. I made the effort with the compost here as I was always planning to grow veg in it. The tomatoes, courgettes & carrots are also doing well.
