Soil: 1 bag FoxFarm's Ocean Forest + 2 bags of FoxFarm's Happy Frog + 3lb dry coco choir + mephistogenetics super soil mix in two 5-gallon smart pots.
Seeds: FastBuds Green Crack and Rhino Ryder will start out under a 17-watt LED-fish-tank-plant-light approximately 2 inches away.
They were moved under the 400 watt HPS with the Gorilla Glue and Blackberry as they enter their last few weeks. So far so good.
These girls are growing very fast :). Really wanted to stretch them out a bit in the beginning to allow for easier access of watering compared to my first grow. Having a slightly longer initial stem for plants i like to keep short and fat helps with a more uniform gentle watering (more hand room). LST pony-tailing starts tonight to initiate branching. I'll pull them over mid week. Really looking forward to the mango smell of the green crack :p
These babies got their first feeding of Fox-Farm's Grow Big in the middle of the week. GC leaves got a little burnt at the end of week 2, but i think it's because i made the soil too "hot." GC is not the prettiest girl right now but I have a feeling she is going to fill out beautifully. Otherwise she has recovered well and just needs some more TLCLST. RR has spread much more nicely and is already showing signs of pre-flower.
Everything is going well with these two girls. Gonna finish up LSTing this week and then let them do their thing. Both are showing the slightest beginning bit of a cal-mag deficiency so theyll be getting some calmag plus slightly above a pH of 6.5 to try an optimize uptake and even out the soil pH around 6.5. They flowered earlier than expected, but no complaints here 😋
So i seem to have registered for the old cal-mag deficiency again, hmmmm. I've been feeding them cal-mag plus somewhat consistently at a pH of 6.5, so i can rule out a "supply" problem AKA these girls are getting flushed tomorrow morning. GC and RR smell a little more weedier than the last two i grew (BB & GG), but the coffee grinds i throw on top of the soil seem to absorb them. Still no signs of any mango or pear smell but i cant wait!
As you can see these two girls aren't the prettiest girls in the world. Not my best work, but I'm going to try a few things differently for my next grow diary, which will be started in the coming weeks (LSD-25, Girl Scout Cookies, Tangie'matic). First, Im going to incorporate some organic dolomite by Greenway Biotech Inc. into the soil prior to seeding (Per @the_ELvis suggestion week 6 of diary 1). I'm hoping that this will help buffer the pH of the soil as well as add some slow releasing calcium/magnesium for the plants. Second, Im going to limit the amount of molasses I use to feed to 0-1 drop per plant. I may be overdosing on the molasses and causing a lock-out. Lastly, I am going to LST a little later in the grow to prevent over stressing the plant. I might be getting too handsy too quick.
Wayyyy behind on updates thanks to laptop problemos. These girls are moving right along. I wish they looked as pretty as they smelled. They are really packing on the punch with smells. Roommates are complaining that the whole house smells. Whoops. If you stuck your nose in a box of fruity pebbles, that's what this rhino Ryder smells like with a delicious weedy earthy tone to it. The green crack is also exactly as described. She bursts with mangoness that melts deep in your nose. I catch myself subconsciously bringing my nose close to her and giving her a little bit more attention. I can't resist having her scent resting on my fingertips. These girls are always thirsty.
Day 56. Rhino is coming down soon. I don't want her deficiencies to start to affect her buds. She smells delicious. She's been flushed for almost 2 weeks, but Green Crack got her last feeding today and will also be scheduled for a 1.5-2 week flush.
I didnt expect to get much out of her but I probably could have gotten a lot more yield out of her if I didnt run into problems. I learned a lot from her though that I can implement into future grows.
She will be hang dried for 3-8 days and stored in quart sized wide mouth mason jars until she hits her full potential, which I predict will be a month or 2 for this stinky girl.
Her smell is like earthy green tea through Cure, but as soon as you grind her open youre just enveloped in this beautiful earthy fruitiness definitely pear/apple like as described. Her high is one of my favorites. Its very sagacious and vivid almost like your thinking and seeing on a higher platform of intelligence. ItS relaxing and uplifting, which helps negate any sleepy effects. Well I wasnt going to smoke but now I cant resist her
She really stinky and funky and mango-ee I can't wait until shes cut and cured. I'm interested on seeing how this first ever sativa will smoke. I can tell though already that a proper Cure will be key to unleashing this girls full on potential. Day 63, but she's coming down soon!
I love her trichomes. They are so tall and flaunt themselves. She's definitely going to have some serious bag appeal. Can't wait to grow her again. She looks like a menorah
I would compare her enticing smell to that of the blackberry except Green Crack is much more funky. Shes really got that silky sweet freshly cut almost perfectly ripe mango smell. Her smell is like a wiff of caffeine to the nostrils. Shes going to need a nice long Cure judging by her grassyness. These are some of the nicest trichomes Ive seen in person, but Im relatively new to the game so thats not saying much; however, her buds look like they should be featured somewhere. I will upload bud pics soon. Shes been curing in wide mouth quart sized mason jars for 1.5 months.
She was relatively easy to grow but her deficiencies really took a toll on her leaves. Her quality is impeccable but I probably could have picked up another 30 grams dry if all went smoothly.
Wow does she smell like exotic island fruit! She exudes ripe mango with dank earthy undertones. I feel like Im on a luxury island resort. Just straight paradise. I could stick my nose in her jar for days. I would rank this close to fastbuds blackberry kush in irresistible smell but she is still untouchable.
She smokes just like she smells in the vape. Strong exotic juicy fruit with flowery undertones. The smoke doesnt even smell like weed out of a bong/bowl. I walked back into my room after a smoke sesh and it smelled of silky flowery perfume still hazed in the air. The bowl/bong really exemplify her flowery taste qualities too. Strong energetic high but at the same time I wouldnt mind lying down and hugging a pillow in pure comfort. Thankfully I bought 3 of these seeds.
These 2 strains are really interesting to grow, especially for the first grow! relatively easy to grow, but boy they have so much power and when you smoke these, it is basically incomparable with anything you experienced before! Good luck with the grow, we will be following on this one and don't be shy to ask if help needed! We're here for ya!
Enjoy growing Faster!
Green crack was a beautiful smoke - you are right curing is very important to get the best taste , mine was fruity and a nice day smoke , such a shame I ran out !!! I'd try the gorilla glue next , that is seriously strong - happy growing bro !!
