Seeing burned tips makes me feed it differently, 2 days with fulls set of nutrients, 2 days with Cannazym only.
I pruned them a bit more, not sure if it was a good idea but those little branches didn't develop a lot during this time.
On day 4 of the week, after HSO's comment on a weekly report, I've measured runoff and it was insane! 3k-5k ppm
Flushed them all so that runoff was around 800 ppm, and watered them with Cannazym only (PH around 6.1, EC 440 ppm).
Also moved them around a bit
Most likely the reason for conductivity going so high was that I removed the pots from platforms at some point and old runoff was probably soaking in.
I think this is the most controversial topic around growing cannabis and it is very difficult to find a good side by side comparison online. I plan to do one on my next grow.
At the moment I defoliate. My thought is that it will increase air flow and will direct the plants energy to the appropriate place. I generally do a first defoliation right before flower and then another after 21 days.
Hopefully this helps! Happy Growing!
Nice, they look amazing and the difference between week 6-8 is incredible. It flashes me every time, wow π I will flip my clones tomorrow, it will be interesting to see them grow along yours. βοΈ
@starke, first of all thanks, I really appreciate your kind words! I hope something would stop me from ruining the harvest by vandalizing them trying to get high on whatever is there π And I was surprised when checked week 6, didn't notice this before cuz I check them multiple times a day and getting used to their size gradually. About flowering switch - the less you know the better you sleep π I remember when I just started I was mostly crossing fingers. And your comment gave me paranoia that these yellowish leaves at the bottom is not-so-normal and it might mean that they need more nitrogen... There were few, and I pluck them and cut tiny lower branches.
When I was doing DWC I was simply following (well, trying to follow) the schedule, and everything was OK for me. I was overfeeding them most of the time and only quite recently I got to know that high EC solutions also tend to slow down growth and it is related to the osmotic pressure so that if you want to speed it up you can try lowering the EC. I'm staying away from trying to understand how much exactly P or K or N plant needs at specific stages, so just following the manufacturer's guidelines and hoping for the best π
Besides that cannabis is a pretty strong species - if the environment is somewhat OK, messing with the nutrients shouldn't be super dramatic usually. And if you're not using the soil you can control it easier, the soil has inertia and your mistakes hit you in a couple of weeks, that's why I'm avoiding it. Fail fast π The worst things were happening to me when humidity was low, temperature high, PH levels were funky and plants were at the early veg stages, the growth was becoming super stunned and I was scratching my head trying to figure out what's the reason. And if it's auto then all you got is a weird ugly dwarf-lady.
@bobtheblob, I'm putting it out there for you, you're gonna do incredible ;) To me the transitioning into flower is a bit more tricky, taking away the nitrogen and adding bloom nutes... Haven't found the right balance yet.
@starke, I thought exactly the same when was checking your clones π¬ But I bet you'll have more buds because of monstercropping π
And I'm incredibly bad at later stages, I guess I never cured anything properly, smoking everything
Now that the girls have been repotted into new homes get ready for a growth explosion π€
Thank you as always for the diary update π
Stay safe in these crazy times π
Kind regards βοΈ
Team-HSO..
@Humboldt_Seed_Organisation, thank you so much for your questions :-D So the runoff was insane, around 3-5k ppm, probably old salts soaked into the pots when I removed the platforms. I flushed ladies. The solution is 1k ppm max. I'll update the diary. Thanks again. I did the flush but I don't do them periodically. I know that some practice it and also let the pots dry a bit to make roots more 'airy' and then feed them to boost the buds, but I used to do DWC mostly before. So you noticed growth slowing?
@bobtheblob, do you know your ec/ppm of your feed/nutrient solution?
Also, what's your run-off ec/ppm? And are you doing a flush periodically?
Kind regards βοΈ

Blue Dream CBD of to a steady start π
Good luck with the grow ahead my friend π
We are watching with interest from Humboldt County βοΈ

@Humboldt_Seed_Organisation, Hello fellow Californians!
Thank you very much for your kind words. And thanks for the work you do.
I'm impressed by what you've done so far and would like to try a lot of your strains :-)
Are you interested because of the weirdness and minimalism of the setup or just because?
I'm actually thinking of going more 'normal' in a week or maybe two.
Btw the seed itself was about 2 or 3 years since I bought it, and probably even older since I bought it in some online retail. :-D
Germinated just fine :-)
BTW the seed itself is about 2 or 3 years now, it was last of the 5 I had, I remember it was good for my anxiety
It looks like it's time to flip that switch to bloom(12/12)π€
This is one flower show we will not be missing π
Stay safe out there π·
Kind regards βοΈ
