Going to have a smaller grow this time, just four plants. Going to try to combine them into a single diary. I'm going with coco (Coco bliss bricks) this time instead of soil. I had 10 bags of soil that I finally finished up in my last grow and I'm happy to try something different. The pH with way too high and I was battling that the entire time. Have buffered the coco at 5.9 ph and fortified with Calmag. Looking forward to see what comes of these ladies!

Starting to see some vigorous growth here mid week 4. Will be able to begin low-stress training as the week progresses as each develops its fourth node. By the end of the week I was able to train the other two plants and upload a couple more pictures after a few days growth for the first two in their new positions

So far the training seems to be going okay. It always looks messy in my experience during the first week plus. For the most part I was able to get by with just the anchor and the initial pull of the top cola without having to attach other pipe cleaners, but we'll have to soon. At this point I've only done some very minor defoliation of leaves that I am not able to tuck under other foliage to increase light penetration

Backed off the nutrients this week and included a 10 gallon RO flush of each plant as there were slight signs of nutrient burn on some leave tips. Since the temperature in the tent is fine I'm assuming I have burned them a little bit chemically.

Really starting to see some trichomes pack on the buds as they thicken up. Or I guess visually the are just starting to pop as the go from clear to cloudy. I have learned during this first cocoa grow that I wasn't watering nearly enough and my drainage was not on point. I'm currently constructing a self-watering and draining system for the next grow and can't wait. However, these four should do nicely until then 😉

Pretty happy with the results considering I didn't establish a good watering routine in this first coco grow until late. Going to finish with a 1 week flush and harvest next weekend.

These two plants were really fun and easy to grow. They produced much denser buds than the ZKZ plants. This was my first cocoa grow, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I didn't get the watering done right until late in the life cycle but looking forward to using this medium in the future. Another area that I didn't execute this time around was sufficient defoliation of the lower leaves branches and popcorn buds. This resulted in a lot more smaller less dense buds in the bottom half of the plant that probably could have had their energy used for the main bud formation had I attended it better. The end result is a lot of material for bubble hash

These two plants were really fun and easy to grow. They produced much fluffier buds than the 2 GDP plants, however they are no less sticky and covered in resin. This was my first coco coir grow, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I didn't get the watering down right until late in the cycle. All in all looking forward to using this medium in the future! Both of these plants probably could have had improved output with better defoliation. In fact, 50% of ZKZ1 output is probably only appropriate for bubble hash. Lessons learned.

😀nice LST. I am still not Vary comfortable with LST but I think i did ok. do like using pipe cleaner?

@1stmanny, I honestly haven't done enough grows to know for sure. I'm not sure how else to say it other than the roots looked less stressed in the fabric pots. I think that's a good idea you can try two in plastic and two in fabric. One thing I can tell you for sure, the plants in the fabric pots will need to be watered more frequently as the air flow they allow dries the medium quicker

@GoodBadger, do you feel that the plant gett bigger and strong in the fabric pot? I see a lot of growers using them. my next grow will be 4 plants, maybe i should get two fabric pot and try them out.
GoodBadger
GoodBadgercommented5 years ago
@1stmanny, because after the plants have been cut down and I empty the pots, the roots in the fabric pot seem to utilize the space in the pot much more effectively, whereas in the plastic pot, it seemed like the roots extended out to the sides of the pot and then started curling exclusively around the outer edges leaving some inner pot space not bound by roots. I'm not going to pretend to have enough experience to know exactly how the two types affected yield, but the fabric pots just seemed to promote a more healthy root system when comparing my first couple grows
