This covers days 81-88. Shes putting on good flower mass, but still seems to have calcium deficiency issues. I suppose flowering plants need a ton of calcium! I've changed the light schedule to 12hrs for my other plant. I'm not too sure how much longer until harvest. Maybe next week? Two weeks? I know to look at the trichomes and wait until cloudy / amber, but I'm not sure when to start the flush. Any suggestions?

Should I be worried about the nightly low temps? Last night was the coldest it's gotten at 45° in the tent, while most other nights the temps have had lows of around 55°.

Hi mate! Most definitely aint a good thing to have such a cold night cos I think even 60F is too low. I'm not sure if this will kill your plant but it will affect it somehow for sure. Also one thing to notice is that the temp gap between day and night temps is important too. I've read that 10 celsius difference between day and night is okay

When should I first feed a seedling? My plant is a week old from seed. It has one set of true leaves. I plan on feeding very low strength nutrient solution when I do.

Hi @EvilGrower you should only start fertilizing the plant when the second real pair of leaves is born and forms well. starts with 1/3 of the minimum dose indicated by the manufacturer of the nutes. good luck mate 👍

Hey friend, So 2 things come to mind. 1 calmag...i had many plants get rusty spotty leaves until I regularly used a calmag supplement. 2 by any chance are you misting your plants? I used to do this to boost moisture since I live in the desert and the chlorine in the water etc caused some serious spotting...I finally figured it out and stopped doing that. And now i only do a foliar application at lights out. Happy growing. ✌️

What do y'all think about a DWC with a trellis? When I started this grow I had planned to make a screen of green, but I'm not sure how practice that would be for water changes. Is it practical enough to do this method and just use a water pump for water changes?

Hi! If you have an extra pump you can pretty easily use that to fill the dwc and empty it also when needed. You won't get everything out of the system but most of it and it should be enough during grow cycles 👌

Hello! I am contemplating defoliation for my GSC auto which is just starting its 3rd week of flower. My concern is that the humidity may be too high, and there may be too little air flow due to the plant's healthy size. What are yall's opinions on this? Too stressful? Thanks!

Hello, in my opinion the 1st 3 weeks of flowering is the best time to remove any plant matter that is taking energy or light from the rest of the plant. So now would be a great time to clean up the bottoms of all Bud sites and leaves that are in the shade. And if you remove some of the top most leaves that might be blocking light that will also help with the high humidity because less leaves less transpiration. Also better airflow around the Bud sites which supposedly helps to make bigger buds sometimes. I'm Pro Defo.✌️

Hello! I've noticed that many of my leaves have burnt tips. I first noticed this about 3-4 days ago. Since then, more leaves seem to have this but the it hasn't gotten worse on individual leaves. Could this be nute burn? Thanks in advance!

They dont need as much nutes when you go into flower. That's why your seeing some tip burn. You just reached their max which is good for transition but back off with flower nutes. Cheers

I recently bought Calimagic for my calcium fix. Prior to this week I have been using tap water for calcium. Is 2mL/gallon of calimagic too little? Noticed some leaf damage I believe to be calcium deficiency. Does she need more calmag? Thanks for your help all!

I would say it's a calmag issue too. Remove some of the leaves, your plants are putting alot of energy into leaf growth, maybe your nutrients are off and you need less n, more pk too. 🌱👍

think the triches are confusing you... they devleop in waves.. so the ones that are out now will mature before harvest. New bract-pistil-stigma develop on top of the ones before it. or squished next to it etc.. e.g. my recent harvest looked ~ripe about day 56, then stacked on an whole extra layer i had to wait to ripen. (in this case i didn't but normally i would have -- this whole thing about ovules, lol...) Anyway, you have fquite a while left, unless it really develops fast at the end. The bracts will plump up, the stigma will retract or coil a bit etc... signs you are closer to end. do keep looking at triches.. see how it progresses, how long it takes from glass to cloudy etc .. good familiarity to gain. In the one picture, if oyu only showed that as a test, i bet people would tell you it's ready, but when you look at the plant, it is not close enough for a flush, methinks. plus, you are hydroponics grower, so you only need a 24-48 hour flush. maybe a slow weaning is better? have to get some hydro grower's tips on that.

Hello all. I hope everyone's quarantine is going well! My GSC must be getting close to harvest, I figure sometime in the next 2 weeks. Should I continue to give full strength nutes or reduce the strength? When should I start to flush the plant? Thanks!

Hey Growmie, If Your planning on harvesting in two weeks then I would stop completely with the nutrients now and start giving it just ph balance water for the next two weeks.Hopefully, I answered your question and remember ..."Happy Growing" and "Free your mind one puff at a time"

I’ve read you dont want to go lower than 58. I can only speak to 62, no adverse affects.

Okay friend really went over what you did.. You went way too high. Absolutely love that you know your city has hard water... We use tap water/well water and live in mountains so it's great water but it's also got Calcium in it as well. You've basically shocked the shit out of your seedling from an excess of nutrients if your ratios you are listing are indeed correct.. Keep in mind with what you saw in Our journal we did not feed anything until right before where your plants are right now. And then we did start to feed it's at like 5ml micro 5 ml 2.5 bloom to 8litres of water. Also we are feeding fantastic nutrients as well 😁

@EvilGrower,It's not a deficiency but you'll figure it out sooner or later. I'll tell you one thing for sure.. The Floratrio series is known to contain everything cannabis needs to grow. Or maybe your nutrients went bad lol.. Have fun!
EvilGrower
EvilGrowercommented5 years ago
@DeadwebsiteBoringcommunity, I now believe it to be calcium deficiency. I've compared pics of that to my plant and I'm more or less confident that it is calcium deficiency. To address it, I added some plain hard tap water to the mix. I believe the air pump is sufficient, I'll upload a pic of the bubbles in week 3 journal.

@EvilGrower, Okay so if your nutrient numbers are correct.. What the heck are you doing? ha ha ha to be frank. Your lady looks like a crucial parameter is way off nutrients was the easiest culprit... Air pump putting plenty of O2 in the water??

No no no. Calcium deficiency. The brown spots are mostly on leaves getting direct light? Not in the shadows yes? Magnesium will give you a stripping effect in between the veins of the leaves. Even though the two are very closely tied. Start up a calmag supplement or check your ph... calcium typically is best absorbed at 6.2 but you'd be better at 6.5 to ensure the other nutrients are absorbed, like magnesium. 👍

@EvilGrower, i had a very bad calcium problem on one plant outdoors and it was hideous! The splashing...i haven't had that happen; but i used to mist my plants to try to boost the humidity and it had that discolored look, i didn't know that the chlorine in the water was doing it. These plants are a lot more sensitive than I would have ever expected. I'm glad you found your problem though.✌️
EvilGrower
EvilGrowercommented5 years ago
@Experimentgreen, the next day the spots are looking like they were bleached. Now I'm thinking it may have been simply accidently splashing water onto the foliage while changing the water on my other plant. This would explain why the spots were only on one part of the plant. Thanks for your advise about calcium deficiency, that's definitely the bane of my grow so far!

@EvilGrower, Regarding a trellis, check out my diary Aztech Alice Nicole ScrOG week 10. Perhaps you can fashion something similar and attach it to your bucket lids. I like this setup for my 2x4 tent, since I can remove the plant from the tent to do plant maintenance, and even turn the plant around.
EvilGrower
EvilGrowercommented5 years ago
@DeaneR, I hope you do stay for the ride! I have a few friends who are also growing but in soil. I have to say, as humbly as I can, my plants are doing leagues better in DWC. May help that I did a fair bit of research waiting for my seeds to be delivered and I check on them multiple times a day. I don't find DWC to be too difficult, but I can easily see how it could be a mistake for those who don't check their nutrient strength and pH at every refill. Something I've learned throughout all this is that the pH will shift quite dramatically. If I pH nute solution to 6, the next day it may be 7. To stay ahead of this I pH check the water again the day after I mix nutrients. Something I hadn't considered when I first decided on a DWC system was that I'd be much more difficult to use a trellis net for a screen of green because it would be consideribly more difficult to replace nutrients, and pH check the water as I described. I may try to use a trellis on future grows, but I am not comfortable doing that on this first grow. Maybe I will try this with my other plant- photoperiod Blueberry.

You've been fed some really incorrect information by the community and we wanna help you. We grow hydroponics and you don't need to "start feeding" right away this is actually caused us more problems then solved. look at the plants we have going in our diary they look great and we did not feed them until "second true leaves" started to emerge. Green Planet Nutrients Recommends not feeding your cannabis until the Second true leaves emerge.. Just take our word for it. Or check out the FAQ on the Green Planet Nutrients Website.

@EvilGrower, So when I am counting days for my journals I start from when the seed sprouts. Most of the time this around 3-4 days. At this point I would transplant directly to hydroponics setup. So for lack of better term this will not be out week 1. We aren't really counting this time at all because we don't need to intervene, you can check ph and balance to 6. So after approximately 4-5 days the second true leaves will start the emerge. So when a seed sprouts and there are basically the 2 flat leaves which are the cotyledons and then there are the true leaves that come on at this point as well. When the "next" set of leaves starts to emerge is when we start to feed Small amounts of nutrients. There is a term a fellow grower used called "Green Zone Growing".. That's what we are doing the closest we can get to "Perfect numbers". Ie humidity , temperatures, Air flow, ph and nutrient levels.

@DeadwebsiteBoringcommunity, I have been quite confused by conflicting information and I appreciate you reaching out to me like this. I see in your journal, Cave Of Wonders w/ Green Planet Nurients, you give nutes during the first week at about 250ppm, and after the second week your plants are much further along than mine. What is different in your case than mine? Do we count the days differently? Deffinently going to follow that journal.

Might need to invest in a small space heater in order to keep your babies growing happily.🤔 Probably have to get a humidifier as well. Much too cold for seedlings. No lower than °55 and never want large fluctuations in temps. Dial in a preferable environment and they'll reward you greatly. Sending positive vibes on your grow. 🥂
Huggomadd
Huggomaddcommented5 years ago
@EvilGrower, Right on. Seedlings thrive in warmer temperatures. Make sure the RH doesn't drop now. With one, usually will come the other. It's a give and take until you've dialed in the preferred climate. That's the whole key Vents open or closed, heater on a timer or no heater at all, or humidifier/dehumidifier with that on a timer as well... ect. Really can become a little battle.🌱👍 Gud' vibes bud🥂
