I have had alot of down time spent at home recently (I'm sure you can relate) and with the government stimulating the economy, I decided to let the gov't stimulate my closet. I haven't grown since I was a teenager over 15 years ago, and never grown indoors. I have had alot of fun with this project so far and already catch myself planning a second tent with a DWC setup. I'm really fascinated by using coco fiber to grow because I also have experience in using it as a substrate for fungiculture. Started grow on May 2 by scuffing the seeds in a tube that I made out of sandpaper. A few shakes and into tap water at pH 7 for three hours. Then into damp paper towels individually bagged but not sealed and labeled and into a shoe box covered in a pillowcase and placed in a warm spot. On May 4 (Day 1): Seeds had all sufficiently sprouted and were placed into Jiffy Seed starters and into the tent under a humidity dome. Lights turned down to 66% power at a distance of 30" from dome. Day 2: 3BOG shot up to an inch overnight and other two just poking through the soil. Running lights at 24/0 until first real leaves come in. Still just feeding pH adjusted water for now. Day 3: Two of three jiffy starters have taproots already poking through. Started preparing and buffering coco to pot up ASAP. All plants are already at least 1" tall. Potted into fabric seedling bags with buffered coco/perlite blend that had been rinsed until EC was <400. Will start feeding nutes tomorrow morning. Day 4: Topped off seed bags with more coco and buried 3BOG a bit. Watered with diluted nutes for the first time and will slowly increase strength until they are up to full dose. Only fertigating once per day for now. Also, began 20/4 light cycle which will remain for the rest of these plants' life cycle. Day 5: Nothing happening...waiting game. Day 6: Put my humidifier on a smart plug so that when lights and exhaust go out (6am) I can turn it off remotely, from work so that the tent doesn't get too humid. Will begin fertigating twice a day starting tomorrow. Day 7: Smart plug humidifier worked incredible well. I let the humidifier run for 5 minutes after lights/exhaust off before switching it off remotely. This allowed a small amount of humidity to be trapped in the tent during dark period as the room my tent is in can be a bit dry. The only thing left running in the tent was a 6" fan for air circulation. NCH was looking slightly yellow and runoff EC was still on target. Growth continues consistently so I will monitor it and react accordingly. The final 3 gallon pots are prepped and ready for plants when the time comes.

Day 8: NCH a little pale and Stilton x 3BOG potentially showing early signs of calcium deficiency. Applies foliar spray of CalMag solution and will continue this twice a day until full strength nutes are being used. Steady growth, hoping to be built up to full strength nutes in 48 hours. Day 9: When watering in the morning, noticed roots emerging from all containers. At 10 pm I made week 2 nute solution, adjusted EC and pH and watered all three plants then immediately potted up into final pots with coco/perlite that has been rinsed so the runoff match the runoff EC of the seedling pots. Adjusted light to 26" from canopy. Day 10: Bit of a learning curve as far as volume of nute solution needed to water each time so I used way too much at first, will adjust and dial it in so I am only producing 10-20% runoff. NCH showing better color and Stilton x 3 BOG still showing weird characteristics. 3 BOG likes to droop it's leaves by the end of dark period and then perk way up when lights come on and I water. Things are looking good and growth is steady with no signs of negative effects from potting up. Figuring out how to manage high RH during dark period. Day 11: Growth is consistent and rapid. NCH showing spots on first leaves but it may be from nute solution I spilled on her. Stilton x 3 BOG looks wilder and bigger every day with non-symmetrical growth each node. New humidifier is here and I can now turn it off and on remotely using smart plugs. Day 12: First sets of 5 pointed leaves are coming in on all plants. Experimenting with cycling exhaust fan on and off during dark period to further combat high RH. First feeding of full strength nutes and everyone seems happy. Environment is stable, with the exception of high RH during dark. Day 13: Plants are looking good and responding well to final containers and full strength nutes. New humidifier is working great to keep the environment stable. Day 14: Still having problems with high humidity during dark period. Am going to leave exhaust on 24 hours a day and see if it helps. New hygrometer showed up and realized that the one I was using to measure RH in the room the tent is in is wildly inaccurate. I thought the room was dry (10-16% RH) but it turns out it is actually very high (70-75% RH). This is very concerning but at least I am finding this out during veg, while high RH is desireable.

Day 15: No log entry Day 16: Plants are looking healthy and starting to bush out. Runoff EC has been a little high and I am trying to figure out how to keep humidity down during dark period. Day 17: Runoff EC still incredibly high so I decided to flush at double volume and half strength nutes. Runoff EC decreased slightly but I will continue to monitor the situation and water three times a day until runoff EC is in target range. Day 18: Have been watering 3 times a day at normal strength nutes and slightly higher volumes and runoff EC is back on track. Plants are bushing hard and I am considering starting LST within the next couple days. Day 19: Still fighting high humidity during dark period but I have a dehumidifier on the way. Definitely starting LST tomorrow morning and am quite nervous, Day 20: Watered each plant normally at lights on and then waited one hour before pulling each plant out individually and starting LST. It went very well with only one broken leaf and one cracked stalk (that looks like it will heal). Within 3 hours the plants had mostly adjusted their canopies and were looking great. High humidity in the room I live in is a little high but nothing detrimental as of now. Day 21: Plants are looking great and bushing out like crazy. Decided to trim a few leaves off for the first time and basically just got rid of anything that was hanging or could hang into the medium. Noticed something on the pots that could either be salt deposits or mold so I will keep an eye on that. Adjusted LST at night after watering and will continue to do so every 24 hours. *I got some raw yucca powder in mid week and made a solution of 1/2tsp per 10 oz distilled water so I can use .5oz yucca solution per gallon

Day 22: Really looking forward to the AC being turned on because even with two humidifiers running I can not manage humidity, even though it has miraculously been mostly on target (I just have no control). Adjusting LST every 24 hours for now and plants are getting bigger so I increased watering volumes. Day 23: Plants are looking very healthy and bushing out quite a bit. When readjusting the LST I noticed that the stalk on the Stilton x 3BOG that I cracked half way through and just left for nature to deal with had healed enough that I felt comfortable adjusting it as well. Day 24: Plants are responding really well to LST and bushing out a lot. The AC got kicked on today and it immediately helped equalize the humidity in the tent and dial in any fluctuations. I hope this lasts. Setup inkbird humidity controller but with the current hardware it is basically just going to run dehumidifiers 24 hours a day. Looking into sending back my two cheap dehumidifiers and buying an expensive one that will actually have an impact on the humidity. All the LST'ed branches are beefing up and getting knuckles along the main stalk. Day 25: Noticed plants getting a little droopy by the end of dark period still but they also perk up about an hour after lights on and being watered. Day 26- 28: I have not kept up with my journal because of what is happening in our country. I have still been watering 2-3 times a day and mostly keeping up with my feed log. I am still taking care of my plants, just taking less time to document everything. 3BOG started showing early signs of flowering on day 27.

Should I defoliate these a bit? And when specifically? Especially the really bushy Stilton x 3BOG. I am haven't adjusted LST since first signs of flower but the tent is a bit crowded and I thought that defoliation might help with air flow and even distribution of light?

With that kind off bushy plant you'll want to defoliate a bit. You can pull a large fan leave off that might be around light getting into lower bud sites. Or you can wait until the flower stretch. And do a big defol then. And also after the flower stretch when you can really see which budsites and leaves are unnecessary. 👍🌱

I am running 20/4, after about 18 hours the leaves stop praying, gradually start to droop until it's worst point through dark period. When lights come on, I water them, within an hour they perk up. Humidity drifts up around 10% during this time also and temps down 6-8 degrees F.

It is the breathing cycle of the plant, completely normal. Plants have an internal clock that adjusts to the periods of light and dark. 2-3 hours before the lights go out, the leaves go down, and then get up completely 1-2 hours after the first lights. You have to worry if you see them constantly lowered, in this case it can be an excess of light or too much nitrogen.

She has been flowering for about a week now and showing some pale spots. At the start of flower I turned the light up from 200w to 300w. Light is currently at about 20" from the canopy. Plants seem healthy otherwise, should I be concerned?

That is most definitely a macronutrient defeciency. Adding extra calmag to the feed should help you out. And you caught it early 🌱👍normally happens when you increase light or use strong LED.

I haven't been keeping up with my journal entries because life in a major city in the US is very hectic right now. I am still taking the best care of my plants and filling out my feed logs, just not writing every detail down in my grow journal. Day 29: NCH began flowering Day 30: Stilton x 3BOG bx began flowering I have been taking off LST ties when I remove them and the branch doesn't move at all. If i move the tie and the branch moves in any direction, I leave the ties for now. The stretch is real! I amusing NPK Raw Yucca powder by making a solution of 10oz. distilled water to 1/2 tsp. yucca and using 15ml/gallon of this solution with every feeding.

Thing have been going pretty well. Tent is getting a little crowded but I bought a 2x2x4 to dry in that I am gonna setup with a Mars ts1000 and move the dreaded hermie in there to quarantine. Biggest update is that my F1 Meph Freebie hermied. Over the course of 3 days, I pulled 7-8 pollen sacs off her that werent mature yet. I have spent 30 min-1 hour daily looking for more and haven't seen any more since. I will continue to check her but she is entirely too stacked with buds forming for me to scrap her. Since the grow is for personal use, worse case scenario is that I have to pick seeds out and I am not too devastated since I am pretty positive it was out of my control. I thought my tent was smelling moldy and gross but realized that it's mostly just the TWO CHEESE STRAINS in my tent.

I've defoliated all three plants 3 times so far and the Northern Cheese Haze and 3BOG look great but the Stilton x 3BOG bx is an absolute monster and super bushy. I am not terribly concerned about larf as I'm gonna make some ice hash but I'm sure that it would help with air flow.

Hi there! To me it looks like you could do one more defoliation. Many people like to do the last one during the 21st day of flowering and you havent gone that many days past it yet!

Everything is going well. After a week of searching the Stilton x 3BOG bx for an hour daily, and never finding any more "pollen sacs", I am not entirely sure the plant really hermied. I only found a total of 7-8 "sacs" and they all had pistils and no pollen formed inside. I am still going to keep an eye on it obviously but will not be worrying like I had been. Got the second tent set up but the only plant that would fit was the NCH so she got her own condo by default. Starting to order parts to setup automated fertigation because fuck hand watering 2-3 times a day and sucking runoff out of drip trays with a turkey baster! Having a ton of fun with this grow but needing a little bit more freedom to live my life outside of the garden.
