Israel CBD Organic Grow

Well, here we go again- this is the legendary Avidekel - the original high CBD strain bred by the famous Cannabis scientist Dr Rafael Mechoulam of Israel. This is 1 of 2 bagseeds from my medical supplier MedReleaf which I found back in 2017. Sprouted in 24h! First attempt in my 2017 grow was using Botanicare, didn’t go so well at first with pH issues and ended up getting only about 1 oz. Switching to BioBizz, have some awesome volcanic soil from the Okanagan Wine valley of B.C., and adding some Recharge to get the soil microbes going well. This time I plan to cut some clones and create some feminized seed to keep this girl alive!

I feel quite blessed to have this strain - quite honestly shouldn’t even have it as this strain is proprietary. This is by far my favourite High CBD strain. While it’s origins are indica leaning, I find it to be more on the sativa side of the spectrum in terms of effects and growth pattern - Flowers are fruity and clean and produce fantastic quality CBDA extracts that can absolutely obliterate Inflammation. The raw CBDA and other terpenes yield a great entourage effect - unexplainable until you try it raw. Super excited for some Organic pure CBDA - which currently isn’t available in Canada

Started off this week with some pre-greenhouse transplant jitters.... within 1 hour of a test-repot, some issues started. Leaf burn, and I hopefully stopped it. Decided to do the transplant anyway (Cheers for the advice!) and instead of waiting for the Recharge that I ordered online from Real Growers to arrive, I added Gaia Green to the mix used to pre-saturate the soil in order to assist with the transplant, and will water in with Recharge at the next watering. I moved grow lights and timer to the Greenhouse, and adjusted my heater to keep temps above 20 degrees to help acclimatize to the change. I plan to top by the end of week 3 and start LST.

This is my last seed, so doing my best to keep it going and eventually try to make various crosses with other strains. Week 4 - Transplant has been successful but I picked up some underlying issues in the soil chemistry. After discovering runoff pH to be 5.0, I found this new Black Okanagan Volcanic soil I am using to be highly acidic. This plant was a difficult grow on my first attempt also - compared to other strains the plant was beautiful, but was uber sensitive to anything outside of optimal conditions compared to other plants grown in identical conditions. Overall a great learning experience. I’m pumped about the mineral content of this soil, and how this will impact flavour so I’m sticking with it, just made some additional soil amendments to adjust the CEC of the new soil. New soil recipe: 50% Organic Black Okanagan Volcanic Soil 20% Perlite 20% Buffered Coco Coir 10% High Mineral Content Organic Soil Added Recharge to nutrient solution to ensure a healthy Microbial ecosystem. Final Runoff pH corrected to 6.3

She’s Growing fast now, seems happy - I’m avoiding defoliation at this point in order to maximize photosynthesis on the main stems, and just trying to keep the pinwheel shape on all 8 LST branches. Continue to use 1mm stainless steel wire thanks to @Basementganja for the sweet technique and tips!

Things are going well - she’s a large bush, 24 inch diameter and only 6 inches tall. Going to slow down on LST this week and let her do her thing

I’m really happy with this strain - Monster Genetics, responds quickly to LST. I cut another clone and initiated flowering to verify it’s a girl!! Just felt that the 15L was too small... Wanted to do one more round of LST to really maximize production but no room in the pot - plus she would consistently suck all the moisture from the soil too quickly...

She is an absolute BEAST! She looks so nice and responds so well to LST, I decided to let her grow wild after the 30L pot upgrade. Next week, I’m switching over to flowering. I’m thinking that a 1 kilo harvest from this single plant isnt out of the question.

Last week before flowering. Has taken off exponentially since the move to 30L. This strain is simply amazing. Very prolific growth, branching, I can’t wait to see the results!!!

Ok - sooo, if you followed this grow, you’ll see I started out topping then followed by strong LST to get 6 main branches. Then a few weeks ago I repotted to 30L and relaxed the LST. She reached 24 inches tall and close to 3’ wide so I figured Its high time to open her all the way up. After LST She has take a lovely disc form, almost starlike, and close to 5 feet in diameter. I really don’t know what to expect as I have never grown a plant so massive and so crazy wide pre-flowering.

This plant is getting huge! Flowering is progressing well, she is developing a great smell as the trichomes begin to develop. Really can’t believe the size - lateral branching is out of control and soooo many bud sites!!

This is the original Avidekel - the first Cannabis strain to ever be patented, invented by the great Dr Rafael Mechoulam of Israel - the man who discovered of THC & CBD. I think the whole cannabis community owes this unknown soldier a debt of gratitude - so this plant is a monument to his achievements. Honestly this is the most amazing plant I’ve ever grown. The terps coming off of this are simply amazing - powerful, resinous - and judging by the immensity Im guessing the yield will be huge. I am going to make sure that I keep a clone alive for years to come.
