Reduced feed to the next stage on the schedule. Raised the lights a few times ending at 20". Hopefully they recover a bit from the light stress.. think I'll get more this way than by singing them for "more power".
Strapped them down again, which I hadn't planned on needing... and discovered that I could bend them a lot further than I expected to. They're a bit high lollipopped for how spread out i was really able to get them... but I'm hoping I caught them in time to help their next bulking cycles via circulation and light from defoliation. Also avoid mold or rot hopefully.
This made the decrowding I had done a bit redundant so a couple have some sparse areas. Oh well, I was out of bud. This always happens to me when autos keep growing, you'd think I'd learn. Still wager that most of what's gone would be really bad in terms of larf and mold risk. Hopefully power goes to more effective places.
Tried to get better photos, but with the equipment I have and my tremors it was no bueno. Best I could do.
I don’t use coco but I’m thinking that the coco stores some nutrients between watering and the “every other water” feeding is like a mini flush. @biggreens420 has spectacular results in coco I would suggest he can help you.
@Tazard, yeah. I've only done two batches through coco before.
Dude I learned from just fed weaker every day using a guide that was basically closer to the lucas formula. We agreed that canna coco was closer to lucas in a bottle, but that canna recommends feeding much stronger bidaily .
It definitely builds up in the bottom of the bag such that I don't feed full strength. Conceptually it'd be easier to feed half strength, except they don't seem to like that.
Anything much less than the "light" strength from their calculator (feeding daily), and I get at the minimum, iron stuff. With full strength cali magic. That's the confusion. I might try every other day, not sure. It'd save fertilizer.
@Lucky777, yeah the pvc i got i only needed for scrogs and had intended to repurpose for this but i think i can make a better solution
and yea each one does about half of the 2x4 tent, at least at this close of a distance. hard to tell my footprint really. it's a lot more light than the 317w mars hydro reflector 144-diode blurple fixtures i have (was blooming with)
its still pretty even lighting/canopy so i would say each of the eight plants gets about 50w worth of light
@Jaindoh, ahhhh ok, so they really only light up about a 2x2? Give Or take a little.PVC is pretty tough, especially if you get the industrial grade for underground pipes.
@Lucky777, 2x Roleadro 400 (200W from wall each), which are two-diode fixtures. My filter has to be strapped to the top of the tent on the inside atm for space reasons so one of the lights is hanging crooked.
I plan on making a PVC frame and hanging that from the roof, and then the lights from that. It would fix my coverage/heat map but I havent yet. All I have atm is a bunch of 1/2" slip sched 40 PVC and no glue, i'm afraid it won't hold.
e: i think i have a better solution with just a piece of wire or two securely mounted to the outer ceiling bars instead of the center one.
@Dries96, These are 90-degree trained with LST tiedowns on the main and all the branches. Planted them off-center for this. I have done HST on almost every branch in this grow in order to try to grow short yielding plants. That is what forms the knot. I feed a lot of potassium silicate which helps a lot with LST, and also helps the plant develop larger trunk/branches.
Shorter plants with large-diameter trunks and branches, less distance to pump... very vigorous. Particularly with the root supplements to have a lot of feeder roots on the other end.
From the pictures, those plants have used a lot of energy in building knots and trunks, they have responded very well to HST and it would have been the success you were looking for with regular or fem strains.
Feed ... water ... or not ? It’s the f*ck*ng question 😅
I struggle with the same question and each times I get the answer by looking my plants and lifting the pots 😉
You just pointed the thing when you said that plants were looking better after being aerated...
To make it easy for the new growers, Cannabis don’t like to be watered chronically, they love big amounts of water only once . As you’re not a beginner I must tell you it’s all about aerobic and anaerobic bacterials in the media , it’s the primary factor . After being watered the roots hairs dies and needs 3 days to grow back , during these 3 days anaerobic bacterials have the time to do their job , it’s the time the soil needs to dry out a bit and anaerobic bacterials start to dies leaving the place for aerobic bacterials when the roots hairs start to grow back and start the feeding exchange again ....
So technically if you follow me and haven’t been lost 😄 you Water or Feed every 6 days maximum approximately, it makes once a week .
The Canna Boost I suppose it’s the Rhizotonic, it is efficient at the beginning from seedlings to the 3rd week of flowering, using it after the 3rd week of flowering is wasting money and as you said bro it’s really expensive.
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, very interesting about the bacteria, i will have to keep that in mind; makes me wonder why youre supposed to water to runoff every other day. Obviously salts, and I do water them instead of feeding, but 20% runoff is a LOT of water. How would they stay happy?
The boost I had intended is their bloom booster which I havent tried yet; the rhizotonic I am a big fan of and it only costs about the same as GH rapidstart. I will probably discontinue it after third week of flower in photos but autos are weird and keep growing past the stretch so i had been continuing to give it to them out of "better safe than sorry"
For the feeding question, as I said you must look your plants and check your garden tracker to know if you’re over feeding or under feeding, as some deficiency can looks similar to excess amounts sometimes.
I’ve never grown in coco and never used LED’s and this is why it would be like gambling if I give you accurate feeding chart . Feeding is based on plants health and the amounts of Watts with HID’s but for LED’s idk if goes the same.
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, yeah I haven't been burning so it's mostly a min/max issue of expensive nutes and "maybe itll grow a bit better if im not giving them slightly too much nutes"; I had been adjusting feed to my plants with fox farm... it's a bit more weird to me with canna since it's an A+B all-in-one.
I don't think I've been doing too poorly, just trying to dial it in to 'perfect'. My veg food's PPM for light schedule, 8.7 A+B, 4ml calmag (have dropped to 2), all the stuff I put in it, 626. The big flowering batches I had been giving at 13ml A+B were like 1050. Should be golden afaik, I really should at least do one round where I pull each plant out and test its drainage it's just the biggest drag with my setup lol. I am going to adjust my setup to where runoff testing should be easier.
@Jaindoh, yeah, she looks close... I'd say too that she still has enough nutes in her to finish the job, it's normal for her to draw nutrients and energy from the leaves so it's normal for them to go yellow at some point. I'd give them just water till the end, they seem healthy enough to not need any extra boosts for now
@bobo420, i need a new scope i think, the lens is clouded -- the furthest alien in the front left seems within a few days, has a lot of cloudies lower down as well as the tops. There's a diesel that should go soon as well.
its close enough that instead of feeding all 8, due to the overfeeding and them being autos i skipped a feed to flush 3 more that are closer as well. been giving molasses.
if they start to look deficient i'll give them a feed but have been paranoid i have been overfeeding and stunting my autos so i'm betting there's enough still left in the bottom of the bag and their leaves to last them at least until the next feed day.
They've put some weight this week, nice ;)
As for the run off and feeding I agree with @@Athos. I don't grow in coco but have seen these bugger drink as much as a regular plant, some even more, they can be thirsty ones
@DougFresh, Yeah I have been recovering from multiple surgeries and have not been on my best game. Rushing while training, bending over and stretching to train / HST instead of moving plants, all type of other rookie mistakes. Three tents is whooping my ass so far.
I am, however, generally in the "anti-fragile" camp of growing, stressing them on purpose; I'd rather make mistakes toward this direction than to be too gentle?
IDK, it's a matter of perspective, clearly -- either way the Aliens were gonna be a bit too big for the tent so I've been trying to create and maintain an *ultra* low and wide canopy.
