Dark Devil Auto Monsterz

The_Chef_420 Planted three Dark Devil Autos on Sunday the 10th and they sprouted the 15th. I only used the aboce nutrients to wet the media before use. I started them directly in their final container and then gave them RO water. Soiless media consists of "Mothers Earth" cocco coir and "Pro-mix" peat moss mixed them 1:1 and added 2 cups "Shultz" perlite, 2 cups earthworm castings, and 1 tbsp blood meal.

The_Chef_420 These three are growing noticeably faster than their cousins Devil Cream Autos which are in a DWC hydro set up. Probably bc the soiless media is slightly amended. Just an interesting note.

The_Chef_420 Got my loghts all adjusted and mounted in their final spots. Filled up the girlz pots all the way with peat/cocco amended with blood meal and worm castings.

The_Chef_420 Not many pics for the week here. I got really busy being a dad lol. So here's some catch up. Pretty much just watering daily and leaving them be. Removed bioweed from regimin and added purpinator. Never tried it, should be interesting.

The_Chef_420 Well looks like my yield is going to be substantial. Noticed accelerated growth in the last 3-4 days. Been using cinnamon (anti-fungal) and perlite to top their substrate. Also been using a foliar spray twice daily (dusk/dawn). Lighting is supplemented with waterproof C.O.B. led's which run 20hrs on 4 off besides on exceptionally sunny afternoons where I then turn them off til shade casts again. Total growers but not showers. No strong calyx formation yet, maybe into first week of flower.

The_Chef_420 Finallyin the first week of flowering! Branches are alternating which is a great sign. I feel like such an idiot, I tripped over the fans extension cord last night at lights out and the tower fan fell on D.D. #1 but the other two were untouched. I used vasoline to cover her wounds from infection. Hopefully it wasnt enough stress to turn her hermie!

The_Chef_420 Had to bend the tops of two because they were about to hit the ceiling of the greenhouse. Removing the greenhouse is near impossible at this point, its anchored in the ground and holds supplemental lighting and venelation. Starting to see flowering nodes form! Finally haha. I really love these plants so far, been a blast to grow. Switched to transitional bloom nutes, next week probably no more gro pro. Really dissapointed that I didnt have more head room for these babies. I will be DEFINITELY be growing these again. Totally sativa tree like characteristics and an interesting smell of earthy/sweet/musty.

The_Chef_420 Had some major issues this last week with an infestation of fungus gnats, ants and aphids that originated from their neighboring hydro plants. Just literally havent had time to be on top of everything amd be on here as well.

The_Chef_420 Well I made the decision to remove the plastic cover of the greenhouse because these babies are HUGE. Never had a plant this tall, ever, especially an auto. I removed all the lighting and left them and the other hydro girls exposed to the natural elements. Most were barely showing any signs of flowering so I figured the natural lighting would be sufficient and promote flowering. All my lighting is IP65 rated waterproof so I'm still looking for another way to mount them to run during the day when light is scarce or on cloudy days etc. But not for any extra time compared to sunrise and sunset. Have been removing large fans from the bottom up, exposing lower nodes. Also have been adding support their extremely long branches or tieing them back to the main stalk loosely at a node with hemp rope. At this point I'm not at all dissapointed that these Devils haven't flowered sooner, I expected delayed flowering because of the high doses of Superthrive throughout most of vegetative life. I just hope theres enough time left in the season for them to finish! Had to add an extension on our fencing lol, but the neigbors seem cool 😎, its legal anyways. Will add official height and current pictures in a few hours.

The_Chef_420 After surviving a wicked thunderstorm last weekend the Devil's still stand tall. I was able to get some branches tied down and everything secured. Tallest girl measures just over 9ft, up above the app will only allow me to enter 118 inches as the most for height when the tallest plant is 126 inches tall. The peak of the greenhouse frame is 8ft. Been having a hard time keeping Monster Bloom in stock so been using slightly less and compensating with Alaska Morobloom 0-10-10. Stepped up the Purpinator a little bit to 1 1/2 tsp, and plan to > as flowering continues. Hopefully in this next week they blow up with calyxes. Was also considering reintroducing my waterproof lights in places to be used during the daytime where light is scarce. On the other hand it's kind of nice having a lower electric bill, haha. The_Chef_420 These devil's are really exploding but I'm worried I may not have any purple phenotypes, not the end of the world, but they've had Purpinator their whole life so hopefully if there's any anthocyanins in them it should pull em out. Had some issues with the mail and had a delay on receiving my Monster Bloom so I purchased this "Ginormous" from a local grow shop which contains the same main ingredient (monopotassium phosphate) as monster Bloom. (At least that's what they listed on the containers lol).

The_Chef_420 Unseasonably cold temperatures has had me on edge but growth still looks to be normal. Noticed some magnesium deficiency in some of the lower branches from the temp dipping below 60 so I bumped up my cal mag slightly to compensate. Also increased part B and C of my base nutes as well as Monster Bloom, Nirvana and Purpinator. Still no signs of any purple growth but I'm still very optimistic that these babies will be beautiful no matter what. Might cover up their pots and surrounding ground with hay/straw/mulch or whatever I can find today to help keep the roots warm with lower 40's°F for lows at night in the near forecast. Two of the three Devil's have shown exponential flower growth over the past few days, with more indica characteristics, where the middle Devil is straight sativa, totally a bunch of foxtails forming 🦊 and extra tall, long branches as where the other two are more Christmas tree 🎄 shaped.

The_Chef_420 This week gave the girls a short heat wave for three days where the highest temp. I recorded was 77 degrees Fahrenheit and the lowest was 34 degrees Fahrenheit. The days that it was warm made the air very muggy, raising the Relative Humidity to at its highest 94%! Needless to say the Devils needed some pruning after I noticed some powdery mildew even after 24hr repeated neem oil/mix essential oil treatment. In doing so also helped more light get to the lower canopy. I removed a large amount of fan leaves close to the stalk on all three girls. Their flower production is slow, so I figured getting some more light down in there would help too. Still no signs of anything purple 😕but I still plan on feeding the rest of their life with Purpinator still just to see. When it comes to overall size of the plants all I can say is wow. Like I said in the last week, two are very similar in phenotypes and the other is something special on her own so I can't wait to ride this out. Its gotten very cold lately during the night but I live quite close (about 1/2 mile) to Lake Michigan so the lake temp helps regulate air temp where I am at, therefor holding the frost back. I just keep praying and going on as normal, I have no intentions of taking these beauties down early!

The_Chef_420 The warm weather has returned! (This has been such an odd year weather wise.) Also so has the humidity. There was a few days in between the end of last week and the middle of this one that were perfect, temps in the 60's and low humidity of like 40% RH. Looks like a lot of rain in the next coming week so just glad the girls get to soak up all this sun! An increase in nutes should also help with growth, slow and steady wins the race. Almost to peak level of nutrients, probably next week.

The_Chef_420 What a rainy, wet week for the start of October! This prompted me to remove lots of large fan leaves for more air flow and to help keep humidity down near the buds. Also removing these leaves helps immensely when wet weather occurs so the weight on each branch is a little less, they hold less moisture near the buds too from where the rain water is trapped after the rain stops. Lots of trichomes with how strong the sun has been in the previous weeks. Getting colder temperatures now, hoping they will show more purple. For right now the two phenotypes on the ends of the frame for the greenhouse have purple on the tips of the calyxes on the colas and some purple/blue hues in the sugar leaves but nothing quite significant. There is also three other girls of Devil Cream Auto right next to these and only one of those has any indication of color change but no purple tips even. These Dark Devils are receiving three teaspoons per gallon of water each too. Not such a big deal since they still look and smell absolutely amazing. The middle phenotype is a true green pheno but man did it get tall and man does it smell just like cherry cola with some pink pistils. The other two are almost identical in looks/color and growth pattern, but their smell is each a little unique. One has more citrus/fruity hints but both have a sort of floral/creamy refreshing kind of smell lol, its hard for me to put it in words except they all smell like I should stuff them in my nose and keep em there for ever!

The_Chef_420 Looks like harvest is going to be forced by this coming weekend but the weather is on the fence of freezing so I may try to use heat lamps to keep these girls going but will have to watch hour by hour. Can't collect any runoff because of how they are rooted through their fabric pots and dug into holes, but I made sure to flush diligently. The website only lets me type in 7.9 gallons for the 24hr watering amount but the first day I gave each of the three plants 5 gallons consecutively in the morning, another 5 at noontime and 5 more at dusk. I did this every day, (some days may have only been 10 gal each) for 5 days and then on the last day poured 3 extra gal a piece around the fabric pot, just straight into the hole surrounding it. Also had some extremely heavy rain, I wish I would have gotten pictures but even with these babies tied down like puppets, the 30 mph wind with 45 mph gusts and torrential rains combined, took and bent every branch possible right to the ground but not a single snap in the entire garden! At one point I was outside in the storm while it was pouring, tying up anything I could reach for an hour or more. I was soaked head to toe, haha but I was NOT about to let some silly late season storm piss in my Wheaties today!

The_Chef_420 All I have to say is: What a damn crazy ride that was! Coming close to harvest I realized I bit off a little more than I could chew with all of my garden as a whole and therefor neglected to keep updates actually up to date, but I did make sure to journal entirely everything and log all my info and take photos to post post-harvest. I was planning on letting these girls go for another week and harvest throughout the week piece by piece but Mother Nature had other plans and on the night of Thursday October 15th the temperature continued to drop and hit freezing, eventually hitting 27 degrees Fahrenheit for a low that night so before it got to 27 my lovely fiancé who mind you doesn't smoke and is currently pregnant with our second child, busted her butt and helped my clear cut our entire garden, with no buds left behind that night. After she went to bed at 1 AM, I was cutting the final pieces and the leaves were starting to form ice and their tips were just starting to curl inwards. I finished up at 2:30, we started at 9pm. I initially planned to have these three girls along with the other autos in the greenhouse to be finished before this happened or to stay small enough to remain in the greenhouse but using Superthrive as a supplement from the very first watering, actually back that up, I wetted the media at the very beginning with Superthrive and Cal-Mag so these girls had Superthirve until the first signs of flowering. Next time I would try to do a run using no Superthrive at all with the seeds I received from this crop. Yield was quite generous, no complaints there at all. Thanks Sweet Seeds!
