Not a good week so far. Plant is suffering from a problem I'm trying to diagnose. I tested the pH of the drainage water and it was 6.8, I've flushed it down to 6.2 now. Hopefully that would solve it.

What's wrong with the plant this week? Many leaves have dry yellow/brown tips, starting from the oldest leaves. Is it some kind of nutrient deficiency, and how do I fix it? I tested the pH of the drainage water and it was 6.8, I've flushed it down to 6.2 now.

This is most likely caused by your ph being to high for coco.. Acceptable pH Range for Coco: 5.5-6.5 so you were a bit high.. hopefully correcting this will start to solve your issue! looks like you already knew! Happy growing!

I'm struggling to keep the pH of my coco coir/pumice mix from rising. I always use ph down to get nutrient going in at 5.5, and the run off water is always 6.5+, and leaves start yellowing/dying when pH reaches 6.8. It doesn't swing, always up.

Hey I wouldn't be too worried about the runoff ph. If you had water ph 5.5 in a glass and let it rest for a day you will notice an increase of ph. This is simply CO2 reacting with water and this causes the ph to raise. Since there is CO2 and Oxygen in the medium for plants to absorb, chemical reactions will increase the ph and therefore alter the ph of your runoff. I would ignore the runoff ph and not make the mistake to feed with a too low ph to adjust the runoff (stay in 5.5 - 6.3). I believe the symptoms on your girl are not being caused by incorrect ph but by the nutrient feedings, either one of these two scenarios: - PPM too high -> nutrient burn - PPM too low -> nitrogen deficiency etc. Note: Water will always dissolve first, salts (nutrients) stay in the medium for a longer time Meaning: If you've been feeding with too many nutrients (high ppm) in the past -> nutrients are building up -> high ppm in the runoff -> chance of nutrient burn To solve: just flush your girl to remove nutrient build ups and then feed with lower ppm than before and ph around 5.8-6.2 If you have been feeding too many nutrients this should work. Just measure your runoff with a ppm meter and you know for sure. !!! Important: If ppm seems to be normal -> there might be a chance that the pumice in your medium is raising the ph (pumice is definitely raising ph, don't know how much though) -> you would have to transplant your girl in a new pot with coco and perlite (perlite is ph neutral) Hope this helps Happy growing!

I continue to suffer nutrient problem, leaves go yellow. I now have no idea how much nutrient I should feed it. Previously run off EC was at 1.8, I gave plain water several days run off is now at 1.1 and plan to increase slowly. pH is 5.8. How to tell the right level is reached?

Hey looks like a potassium deficiency (burned and crispy leaves + yellowing leaves) +ย  I would increase nitrogen as well by a little bit If you are able to mix nutrients by yourself I would aim for something like NPK 4-6-5 PPM 1000 - 1200 (2.0 - 2.4) Regularity of feedings is also very important now: Feed with ppm 1000 on day 1 Only ph balanced water day 2 Ppm 1100 day 3... So you can see how your girl reacts to the new nutrient feedings and eventually find the sweet spot of how many nutrients your girl needs Don't think its nute burn cause leaves wouldnt turn yellow as well (nute burn = only crispy and burned leaves + No yellowing of leaves)

Hi there! Basically there is nutrient toxicities and nutrient burn. So you can give too much of one nutrient to have an toxiticy or everything too much and this will result in nute burn. Or if you give way too much something it will cause nute burn too and it can build up in soil over time. If you are feeding liquid nutes and you think all the nutes from soil are used then if the EC of the run off is higher then you have build up nutes in soil. Optimum level is the one where no deficiencies are shown and no nute burn or tocities ofc. The balance of the nutrients is also very important factor so you need to give right amount of everything and in right balance for the girl to grow happily
