week 2 begins! 3 of 4 seem to be going well, but one tangie auto doesn't seem to want to grow no matter what... 45-60% humidity, 22-24c, (half GHE recommended amount to start) nutrients/clean water alternating days. 1 of 2 GG4 also seems to be drooping and im not sure why? overwatering maybe? any advice? i'm frustrated and worried ill lose my first grow! :(

Any clue as to why my plants seem to be drooping all of a sudden? or why one of my TND isnt growing (but isn't dying either)? Watering every other day right now, nutrients/clean water alternating, and only watering when if feels dry 2" or so deep, 500ml per. help pls :(

Are you saturating the entire pot? right now she would be good with a shot glass or two of water every other day.. Your probably over watering her and stunting her growth.. let her dry out.. you'll know if it's been to long if after she recovers she starts to droop again.. it's better to underwater than over! Happy growing!

looking to start LST but my plants don't have much spacing in between nodes height wise, and lots of nodes.. is it too late to try and start or would it be a bad idea due to there not being much room for new branches to then form once tied down? sorry for noob questions!

Hi there! I think as long as you are veggin it's never too late to start LST! Now that you have tied it down those lower branches will shoot up to try to become mains and just keep bending and keep an even canopy to get good results! If you think it is too bushy, you can let her grow some height now and after that remove some branches/lollipop before flowering

Id like to try topping a new plant to see how it goes, but i'm not sure if its too late for an auto. Mid 3-rd week of the plant with a few sets of leaves, but I don't want to stunt it if its too late. any input y'all? thanks all! learning every day :D

Hi there! I'm doing my first auto grow ATM and I've been told that topping in 3rd week should delay the flowering and it is beneficial for the plant. I tried this and none of the topped plants are pre-flowering but the ones that was not topped arw showing pistils already. So I'd say go ahead and top it!!

don't water so much.. water until 20% runoff.. then, wait for 1" to dry before watering again -- ferts or not. continue to alternate or every third for your fertilizer.. find a good concentration that works out at that frequency -- trial and error. just give water-only.. don't flood it.. it'll work itself out if you overfed in no time.. Doing the above will keep concentrations in your substrate in check. once you do this fora bit... re-assess .. if it continues to nosedive, it's something else that requires more thought. In general, yellowing from below from tips-in is N-def, but many things cause yellowing and based on your description, sounds like a bit too much water / possibly too much nutes and once that's in line, you may not have a problem at all. pH 6.5-6.8 ish is great for soil, unless your nutes say something else.

2nd.. 1plant (same schedule as other 2 mains has almost yellowing leaves around bud sites and has always seemed to have shown the same color since the first few weeks. what can be causing this? the other 2 plants don't have the same issue and are around the same heights also

Hey Growmie ... It looks like you have an iron deficiency. You can tell from the yellow-colored new growth this is the signature sign of an iron deficiency. Easy fix first make sure the ph is correct and if so give it a Cal-Mag supplement most of them also contain iron. Hopefully, this was helpful and remember ..."Happy Growing" and "Free your mind one puff at a time".

Hey Growmie, Yes, this would be nutrient burn, you can tell from the burnt tips. Try giving her pure ph balanced water for about a week or until she perks back up before giving her more nutrients. Hopefully, this was helpful and remember ..."Happy Growing" and "Free your mind one puff at a time.

any clue what caused this brown soggy looking tip? I just moved them outside today, so i am thinking i may have punched/squished the leaf but am not sure if its more than that & to worry about. leaf is progressively getting brown quickly, not appearing any other leaves

if its just one leaf then don't worry. The plant has stopped all contact with that leaf, for whatever reason? you should remove it incase the reason the plant has discarded it was an infection or similar.

The damaged leaves won't get better but this is just due the issues you were having before. It seems your ph is spot on so now you need supply her with nutrients and things should be fine

Hey there i know it gets frustrating and finding solutions are important. But for right now, just calm down and get through this grow. Most plants will have yellowing leaves as the go further into flowering, especially when you remove the "grow" nutrients like you should. Your plants have also had ph fluctuations which can cause problems, the changes up and down. Try just keeping the nutes low and the ph consistent for the rest of this week. Alternate between plain water and then fed water and watch for things getting worse. Lots of damage wont recover, but if you can stay at where your at and not progress further than that's good. 👍

not sure whats wrong :( noticed small browning spots on some leaves this morning, when flipped over you can see the spots forming (not sure how to describe it), the darker green spots underleaf. Pests?Mag-def begging? what type of foliar pest spray do i try if pests?

Hey friend Very trippy spotting...any visible pests where the spots are on the bottom? Or anywhere else? A nice gentle bug killer would be to take a spray bottle and fill 3/4 with water and then 1/4 soap...preferably dr Bonner's castile soap. It won't hurt your plant but will demolish any bugs or larvae. One concern was the red stems...any possibilities of a phosphorus deficiency or any ph fluctuations lately? Fortunately your plants are pretty far so i don't see any of this affecting their ability to reach harvest...but still worth solving. ✌️

Two weeks is an excellent guess. May be closer to ten days. Your trichomes seem to be all maturing at a similar rate. That's fantastic for final potency, just check them daily, because it means the amber ones will start popping up very fast and out of nowhere. Don't miss your window!

Hey, that’s great pics. You are right you got roughly 2/3 weeks to go. The girls are looking great. For drying I always hang dry in a very dark place with good air flow for about 7-10 days and checking daily for dryness. Hope this helps and happy growing

Hey. I'll be following as I'm growing the same Tangerine Dream but lagging about a couple days behind you. Good luck on what will hopefully be a worthwhile harvest.

@kinsmana, Thanks! I think the overly strong light may be helping a bit but keeping it from causing lightburn is going to be hard when they get taller... i *was* watering every 2nd day but i think i had been overwatering, so i've cut back the amount i've been giving them and eyeballing how they're doing. Basically waiting until its dry 2" down or so before ei water, and just watering around the plant for now vs soak the entire smartpot. 1/2 GG4 also looks liek it may be getting nutrient burn, so i've been feeing it just water for the week to try adn flush it a bit.. I guess you learn every day! Other than that and nutrients at half str every other watering. The 1/2 GG4 is technically a day ahead of the others which would explain why the 1 gg4 seems larger than the others and yours. to be honest, i'm flying by the seat of my pants every day with my first grow but having a blast! my gg4 girls all look like they keep getting overwatered, though somehow and droopy, despite keeping the same schedule as my TND. TND plants in general look healthier for some reason, darker green, better looking leaves, etc.. not sure why =(

@igglepuff, So, I'm impressed. Even though I think ours are pretty much exactly the same age you seem to be seeing a lot more growth than mine. Some differences are that I'm not confident in my PH and when I initially planted I did a full 100% soak of the soil and haven't watered since (everyone tells me less is best with water). My Critical Purple is outshining the Tangerine Dream so far. I also; however, see you've been watering. Your 1/4 in your photos (which seems lagging) is about the size of my TND.

Hello Grow buddy, I have to say your diary looks marvelous compared to mine. I just lost track of time and haven't been keeping up as much as you have - but for that I thank you! Seeing as how our plants pretty well started at the same time (though some how mine are about a week to 2 weeks behind yours) I'm thrilled to use your discoveries, concerns and set backs to help my girls out. My Tangerine Dream turned into a nightmare and died a few weeks ago but my Critical purple is flowering quite nicely right now. I noticed you have some yellowing and it looks a bit like mine. Fortunately all yellowing is on the lower leaves that don't lead to any of the buds. I've been advised that this is fairly normal during flowering. But, again, thanks to the comments on some of your questions, I'll be keeping a close eye on nute burn. Anyway. just wanted to stop in and say I think you've done a great job. Any ideas when you might be looking to harvest?
igglepuff
igglepuff
Heya friend! I'm glad the diary and my mess-ups could give you some useful info! :). Makes them sting a little less lol. The yellowing ended up being due to low ph causing lockout I believe. After much discussion with really awesome members and everything, the 2 have started to get color back. From last night to this evening it's actually noticible to the eye, it gives me some hope for the next grow! lol. I'm hoping the buds fill out some more, though, especially on teh GG4 #1 that was stunted from lockout... but it is what it is. I'm not too sure on harvest yet to be honest, but i'd say they still have a good few weeks to go. I've got 2 more autos and a photo germinating right now to start as soon as they're ready to go! :D. Happy growing!

Thanks! Hopefully they pop more but if not better than nothing I guess! Any tips for next time regarding LST or whatever else to help yields, or help not mess them up when I do try LST again? lol I only started CaliMagic week 4 when it finally showed up, so i'm sure that would have helped a bit if it got it into earlier feedings, but otherwise I'm not quite sure right now. haha. I was looking into trying topping a new crop and scrog maybe, with some extra space I've got but not sure if i should give it a whle yet or not :D

Gotta remember autoflowers only get about 3 ft tall max. They aren't like photos which you can control a lot easier.. I got some Auto's popped and it's my first shot with auto's also so I'm hoping they come out ok.. 👊

@Nor_Cal_Kannabliss, aye, I thought i'd have a bit more time in veg based off others but mine decided ot pop a week or so earlier than some of the same breeder/strain but what can ya do :/. I'm not sure how to improve yield, though... I thought my first shot at LST would help more than it did (or harmed it even D: lol) may go with regular seeds next just so I can top them with more assurance theyll recover and not flower out of no where :P lets gooo :D 👊👊

ty! i used gardening wires to tie them down with safety pins to the smartpot or tied to a few stakes in the dirt. Canopy seems to be about level right now but only a few flowering locations so far =( (though bth it's only been a day or so since i've noticed GG4s starting to flower). I'm hoping they fill out and up over hte next few weeks :o. New pics tomorrow on week 5 :D

This is my first real grow too. I think your training looks great for first time. Hoping mine does as well. I’m using 3mm craft wire I got at Amazon. Just cutting a piece, bending a hook on the end and pinning branches down. I share your concern on the narrow internodes. Next grow I’m just doing one plant and thinking I’ll somewhat close to the edge of the pot. Maybe a quarter of the way on the diagonal. Then espalier it across the pot spreading the branches out on the way. Don’t know if that’s an actual technique or not. Good luck.
