Day 15 from dropping a seed in the water. Day 8 from planting. I was worried about growing under LEDs despite one bulb claiming 10,000 lumens it tested at 10,963 with my harbor freight meter. A friend stopped by and gave me 4 of what he called UFOs, they're dim to me and are about 900 lumens under the meter but I figured they're colored so they can't hurt, plus they boost temp and add some circulation. He gave me 4, I squeezed 3 in there but will deploy all 4 when I rearrange for flowering. Anyway I was worried about LEDs and stretching but that is turning out to be a non-issue, hardly any vertical growth at all. Just leaf expansion. I let her sit for 5 days no watering, I misted this morning and will give her a first watering tomorrow as I believe root establishment is well underway. Breeder states up to 120cms so I think I can not add too much due to weak light. Seems highly compact thus far. Lights still on 24/7 as they will be for remainder of this grow. No nutrients this week, my compost and calcium and multivitamin has that covered. Temp is up to 75 this I'll add more air circulation.
All photos taken day 22 from seed day 15 from planting. These are my first autos and I've never done anything inside before but starting my moms and clones for spring. This plant is remarkably tiny. My genetics are at least ankle tall at 20 days, this plant is seriously 1 inch. I can tell the roots hit my compost layer as the bottom leaf tips have began yellowing. If they are like other plants I've grown since '99 they'll really take off here in about 10 days. There has been new nodes under the canopy and lateral growth but zero increase in height, which is pretty astounding. Amazing things these autos are. I'll do some thimbling 6 hours for a few days this week to encourage the new growth sites under the canopy. She's had about 15oz of well water, as the roots expand I'll be able to water more but for now I'm just keeping the area 2 inches from her stem watered. I've learned that our plants don't like to be soaked in huge pots throughout the years and to only water a small area around a small plant in a large pot, keeps the air in the soil better, I prefer to do it this way to forgo the chaos of replanting and the stress that goes along with it. Nothing wrong with the transplanting method but if you've worked with large pots or outdoor 5 gallon bucket grows before and have your watering technique down, you can skip the shock and stress. This Ultimate Auto is a lot more sensitive to my compost than either my own genetics or the Auto Somango growing next to it. Typically my leaves yellow ever-so-slightly at the edges if at all once the roots make it through my seedling soil and into my compost. The Somango Auto didn't yellow at all but this Ultimate is definitely showing burn. I expect her growth to more than double in 10 days after reaching the compost at least that's what's been my experience with my own strains. The other 2 UFOs were really in my way so I'm only using 1 per plant now, spaced 16 inches above the top leaves. The giant 10,000 lumen LED in the middle between my two plants. I'll employ the extra 2 UFOs in a few weeks, mounted sideways or upside-down at the undergrowth. The LED I'll mount horizontally with a mylar shade once they grow to 12 inches tall. Temp is steady 75°F I use a fan a few hours each day. There's not much fresh air or circulation where they are so they're receiving some supplemental CO2 from a gallon jug of mash. At 1 foot tall I'll show how to make you some weed feed as I call it. Cheers, and good luck to all my fellow farmers.
Day 22 from seed is when measurement photos were taken. Others are throughout the week. Some leaf tucking and thimbleing took place, there are branches and leaves coming from every single node on this plant, I've never seen anything like it, if this wasn't an auto it would grow into a bush at least avyard wide. We'll see how large she can get, this strain seems known for longevity. She's very sensitive though, the yellowing from the compost surprised me, no other strain I've messed with has been so compromised by it. Plants normally grow an inch per day oncw they reaxh the compost and she only began growing vertically again on day 19. I'm excited to see what t this week brings, good signs so far. The scent is surprising, it makes itself known only during times my fan is on her and her door is open. Otherwise no odor when opening the walk-in closet door, like if it was sealed no odor is produced but if the door is left open and fan on, she starts stinking.
Not much of an update. Plants have been ignored and I've been busy. Growth is steady, will do another update this weekend, I've gotten behind but thankfully grabbed pics just haven't managed to upload them until today.
