Got these free Alaskan Purple seeds from Seedsman when I ordered my autos. Giving them a go 🤷‍♂️ I also have diaries for White Widow from them, and two strains of Wedding Cake from seeds I got from rec store purchases of local growers, Lifted and Canna Organix.

It’s a seedling, what can i say. Same weird issue of the seed casing ripping a part of the leaves off. Never seen that before and then this time it happens to ever seed I cracked...

Day 17 Watered .5 gal, mostly outside of the leaves. Looking really good and symmetrical. Day 20 Emergency transplant from biosolids medium to organic soil. Dat shit is nasty. People’s pharmaceuticals in it, their steroids and anti-epileptic meds? No thank you. I’d rather have no weed than weed grown in a toxic medium. It’s up for debate whether those chemicals make it from the treated sludge to the plant itself, but without anything other than anecdotal info, I’m not into it. Also, during the transplant, with the organic soil right there, it was disgusting to really get a full realization of the chemical treatment smell sick🤢

Day 20 Did an emergency bare root transplant from biosolids to organic soil. Like, I cleaned the roots off. They were hurting so bad and I definitely ripped some roots in the process, so I decided to prune so the roots had less foliage to feed. They got topped yesterday, too. A little earlier than I would have liked, but it made sense. This one is doing the best. Day 23 Transplanted again down to 2 gallon pots to make room for another round I started. I decided to cut the fan leaves, too. These have been pruned and topped down to nothing but the emerging foilage from the 3rd and 4th nodes. My thinking is that the root system is so compromised that the less foliage they have to feed, the better. Fed some General Organics Bio Root 0-1-1 to promote root growth. Light mnist of pH’d water for foilar feeding. Day 25 I think the Bio Root and the shade is doing them good 🤞Time will tell. If these come back strong, I’ll move them into 15 gallon living soil bags.

Finally thriving again. Just giving them regular water in a base organic soil. Will probably transplant to my 15 gallon bags and my super soil mix this week as roots are starting to show on the bottom holes.

I Transplanted to 15 gallon bags in the middle of the week last week. They’re in the super soil mix I made and have been fermenting for a month now! Added some great white to the soil where transplanted. Been a few days and they love it. Still feeding regular tap water bubbled overnight.

Prime time growing right now. I think the combo of the weather and the roots reaching the super soil has inspired some vigorous growth. Definitely noticed some thrip an/or leaf hopper damage. I’ve spotted 4 thrips and 2 leaf hoppers across all of the plants this week, although the overall damage throughout the greenhouse would suggest that there are more (even still, the damage is not that bad. Limited to a leaf or two on 4 plants. Fed them a bunch of beneficial nematodes and did 2 nights of spinosad followed by three nights of neem, and then one more night of spinosad. Hopefully that gets things back in check. I’ll be feeding a compost tea tomorrow morning. Removed some of the straw top covering since the weather has cooled back down.

Had some severe drooping on one side of the plant. It was kind of weird, but most likely nothing. I was under watering quite a bit in an attempt to make sure I didn’t flush out the benes and nutrients of the super soil. Ironically, I might have killed all the benes. Lol. Either way, they’re getting about 2.5 gal every other day now. Growing strong. Untied the LST ties to move them and rearrange the greenhouse but then plot the dang trunk putting them back on, so i taped out up and left them untied. I’m sure it’ll be fine. Just did another spinosad treatment. Haven’t seen any more thrips since the first treatment 10 or so days ago. Saw a leaf hopper in there though 😡

All plants are responding well to the increase in water. I’m up to 2 gallons every 2-3 days, depending on weather. It’s definitely starting to cool off and the days are getting shorter... About half an hour less light each week. Probably about 3 weeks before solid 12/12 This strain is already starting to really form bud sites and produce pistils consistently.

Early in the week I did an AACT tea. I didn’t know what I was doing (still don’t, but I’m learning). I most likely made it too complex and put every amendment I had on hand in the bag. Not sure of whether it had any microbial benefits or effect. I followed that up with another nematode watering and I can definitely say it has had a major effect. Between the nematodes and the yellow sticky traps, there’s hardly a fungus gnat to be seen. I topdressed yesterday with a mix of super soil, powdered oats, high P seabird guano, EWC, azomite, humic acid, alfalfa meal, and kelp meal. This is the sketchiest of my topped 4-ways. The main stem split all the way to the lower node. I taped it back together but it just looks rough. Hoping no pathogens or pests take advantage of the wound. It seemed to be growing fine, but recently started drooping and turning yellow on the lower leafs. The AACT is really just a bacterial and microbial introduction. I won’t make it so complex next time. Just EWC and molasses from here on out. The topdress will probably take a little bit to break down, so I‘ll do a simple nutrient tea with alfalfa or fish hydrolysate in the next couple days. Hopefully that helps out.

This was my earliest flowering photo of the current crop. I did a little LST and defoliation to spread it out now that the bud sites are clearly defined. Looking good! The split stem is almost completely healed. Amazing. Did a feed with Neptune’s Harvest Fish and Kelp Hydrolysate 2-3-1 at beginning of the week, straight water mid week and ended with a Neptune’s Harvest Fish Hydrolysate 2-4-1. This is on top of the P heavy phosphorus top dressing I added a couple weeks ago that is definitely starting to break down.

Alternating fresh water and 1 Tbs of King Neptune’s Fish Hydrolysate per gallon. Gave it some molasses last watering. Pushing along. Really starting to stack up. Loving the way this one is structured.

Posting these a bit late. I developed a bit of a fungus gnat issue that I think got a bit out of control and the larva were definitely stunting all the plants, some more than others. I did a nematode release and OG Biowar Foliar Pack the next week. I’ll post results in the next week.

Hanging in there... getting close. Battling a couple teeny tiny PM outbreaks. Changed the set up to put the dehumidifier and heater closer to the intakes. Defoliate quite a bit, added an oscillating fan and spread things out Lost a top to bud rot. Noticed some weird curling sugar leaves. Pulled the bud apart to inspect and saw the early stages of bud rot... Cut off one node below the damage. There was a solid top above the damage that’s getting an early cure...Come on baby!

One more week... Been 56 days since first pistils. Seedsman website say 63 days of flowering. I always start counting once the first real bud sites forms, I don’t know why. Probably take it down in one more week.

This strain responded well to the four way topping. If I didn’t get the crazy fungus gnat infestation, I think I could have had considerable more yield. This was the only strain in my greenhouse that did not get PM. I did get some bud rot on one top, but to be fair, I did a nighttime foliar feed of OG Biowar late in flower and left the humidity up around 60% over night, so, my fault.

I enjoyed growing this strain. This was my first season trying to do a super soil / living soil method. I failed a few times and feel like I would have been able to correct things quicker with chemicals and salt-based nutes, but I feel like I’ll be better prepared next season!

Good luck with the purple mate. I got the same freebies. A couple struggled but the best ones are going really good, I have them outdoor too but we are in the middle of winter here and they have handled it really well. Cheers

@Shooey, I couldn’t agree more! Seedsman is my favorite source, for sure! I almost dropped Sunshine Coast, only because I’ve spent a fair bit of time around there. Some great surf in that area. Excited to see how your winter grows finish up! They’re looking nice!

@jahredi, spot on mate. I am on the north east coast of Australia. We still have reasonable temps in winter and beautiful clear days. This was my first late season try as an experiment and they are doing really well. Seedsman really are the best for freebies, but i have chatted to a few growers and it seems they save their best quality seeds for sale and give the lower grade ones as freebies, so they can be a bit hit and miss. Still, hard to complain about that when they are free!! Im happy to stick with seedsman. Cheers mate

nice! i'm growing my Alaskan Purple outside and the buds were so heavy they started snapping branches. have you had that issue?

@revdrjim, I’ve never experienced that. But I could see how it could happen with this strain. Sounds like a good problem to have.
