They took to the new soil and bigger pots well. Growth started to explode. They're starting to bounce back and growing new nodes. The yellowing from the miracle grow burn is going away
I have to condense the weeks here, this is from week 3 of veg to week 3 of flower. Transplanted into 5 gallon pots and began flowering indoors for about 2 weeks. Moved them outside as they're starting to bloom and do not want to stink up the house. This is the first time flowering outdoors for me. It's late in the year so sunlight is pretty sparse. About 6 hours per day. Two are make my me with only 1 female. I'm going to pollinate a bud to get some more seeds.
It's been a bit slow with the short days, but hopefully just a few more weeks to go. The smell is starting to be more noticeable but, being a single and outdoors, it hasn't been very strong
Flushing has begun about a week ago and bottom leaves are starting to yellow. Sugar leaves are starting to turn purple. Still doesn't look too close to finishing as there are very few orange hairs. Hopefully only 2 more weeks. I'll start to monitor the trichomes in about a week.
I found black aphids yesterday so I bought some ladybugs and released some of them tonight. I'll repeat tomorrow and see how it goes. Hopefully going to chop in a week
Im checking the trichomes every couple days. I was originally planning to chop this Wednesday but will let her go until next week and hope to get some amber in the trichs and a bit more swelling of the buds. We got some rain last night and are expecting more Thursday so I'll be keeping an eye out for too much moisture and might move her out of the rain if it becomes too much.
Puna Orange from Big Island Genetics was a relatively easy grow. I had an issue at the very beginning where the perlite I used had miracle grow in it and burned the seedlings. I switched it out with regular perlite and transplanted them and they immediately took to the new soil mix. All 3 of my plants bounced back but two ended up being males. I separated them and collected pollen from one of the males and pollinated one of the buds to ensure I would have seeds for for future grows.
Veg was done indoors and flowering outdoors. This plant endured high winds, some rain, and night temps into the 30s. There was never an issue with mold. The only problem I had was with aphids, it was late in flower so chemicals weren't an option. I bought ladybugs and released some each day for 3 or 4 days. They handled most of them but there were a few left on one of the lower branches when I harvested which I tossed out.
I cut and trimmed everything last night and hung them to dry in a closet. The smell is strong and has a sweet fruity, and citrusy scent.
I'll update once dried and cured. Overall, I'm happy with my yield, which is about the same as my first grow, which was two plants. I don't own a scale so I'm not sure what the wet weight is, not will I know what the dry weight will be. But I know it'll be enough to last me over a year since I'm still stocked from my last harvest which was a year ago this month.
UPDATE: buds have been clipped and jarred for curing. I'll sample one of the pocorn buds thats been drying with my trim in about a week for a taste and smoke report.
UPDATE: I was able to sample some last night and it smoked great. Very smooth and easy on the throat. The effects came on quickly. A very warm body feeling mixed with an uplifting happy high. Less than a full bowl was enough to do the trick. I highly recommend this strain, very reminiscent of XJ-13.
Last UPDATE: dry weight is 1.16oz
you doing real good bud; tbh i'm jealous you can grow outdoors in good weather
it's gonna be good stuff and I'm gonna follow your profile for your next projects too!
Nice plant there SoCal, looks great. The buds should swell out nicely in 2 weeks. Good move flushing now. That sun will degrade the trichomes fast once they are past their peak. Even 2-3 days can make a considerable difference to the very top buds.
Haha I'm with Jon_Do. Jealous of that beautiful climate to grow in.
Keep it up will be watching for your future grows. 👍🏻✌️
yeah definitely dont let them get rained on at all during this late in flower they will retain the moisture in a bad way especially if theyve got dense buds
its no bueno
plants looking amazing bud =)
