Week 1. Vegetation

Started 3 hindu kush auto. I intend to give one away, grow one outside and grow one in homemade grow box. The grow box is as cheap as chips. 120mm out take fan thru a homemade carbon filter. A cheap £40 grow led. Total cost approx £110 Inc seeds and materials.

Seedlings had been growing in homemade compost which I think was a bit too rich, caused some stripes to occur on a few leaves

In parallel to the first 3 weeks vegging in a wardrobe, I've been finishing the grow box out of scrap timber and fibreboard.

The three plants were starting to smell now, so time to offload two as mentioned. I'll plant on guerilla style and give one to a friend. Started feeding 1 teaspoon tomato/veg feed per litre every second day.

Second week In flower. Got heat problems due to hot weather and grow box located in attic space. Temp can reach 36 degrees so I start offsetting the off period so it coincides with the hottest part of the day. Also added an air inlet drawing cooler air from roof soffit.

Almost 3 weeks into flower. Seems the led light isn't speeding the flower development as much as my friend who has the same plant but using a hps. I expected that though, leds is the only option because of heat. Note the smaller led I use to supplement the main light for the lower branches

At 4 weeks, the colas still need to fill out. Had some very hot weather, including temp for a few hours exceeding 35 degrees. I suspect this has slowed the growth somewhat. I defoliated some of the fan leaves to give the lower buds additional light.

Started to thicken a bit now. Compared to my friends grow who's got one of my plants, mine is healthy but slow to thicken. I reckon I will need to flower this for 10 weeks instead of 7-8 weeks as normally suggested. Most likely due to heatwave in the previous two weeks and the cheap led I'm using.

As you can see, the colas are developing and seem healthy but are pretty thin for 5 weeks which I out down to extreme heat (up to 36 degrees for a few hours) last fortnight. Also the cheap £40 led doesn't help. Do you think I should flower it 9-10 weeks instead 7-8?

Hello, Wow even with the 36 degrees they still look good, not heat stressed or ugly by any means. As for fattening up, i usually notice the most bulking on my plants in the last 3 weeks of flowering so I think there's still lots to come. And for this strain i think its not uncommon to actually have a flowering time anywhere from 7-11 weeks, every plant and environment will give you different results. By your white pistils I'd say its definitely got at least another 3+ weeks to plump up. Happy harvesting.

I noticed on some of the lower buds, the small sword like leaves clustering around the buds have gone a bit glossy. Isn't this usually nitrogen related but there's no evidence or much tip burn. Should I lay off the nutes for a Few days?

Yeah or just dial it down a bit and see how she responds.. didn't quite burn her but the evidence of overfeeding is pretty evident. Happy growing! 👊

Week 6 flowering. Putting on a bit more weight but plenty more to go. After going a few days only watering due to glossy leaves, back to full feed for the next couple weeks. Smell is getting heavier. more musky than I expected which is strange as the two sister plants smell much sweeter. I reckon I'll start the final flush in two weeks and harvest three weeks from now.

Week 7 of flowering. The colas are starting to thicken nicely. I needed to apply some late-stage LST to the colas in the crown (where the centre cola would have developed) to pull them apart since the cluster of colas was so thick some of the inner bud was very light green due to lack of light. Added a small amount of blackstrap molasses to add a bit of extra sweetness to the taste and smell. I'm still aiming to feed for one more week before starting the flush. Fair to say I'm getting quite pleased with the progress now.

I've noticed the several of the top Colas continue to stretch upwards instead of thickening up. It's almost as if the colas are growing a foxtail from the top of each one. Plants seem healthy and resinous otherwise. Any thoughts?

That is typical light stress for top buds. Heat can be a factor as well. But you are using leds, so my money is on light stress. These buds need to moved/bent/tied away from the lights. If they are few, move bent tie, if many, lift the light upward if possible.

Week 8 of flower. Continuing to feed a few more days as the plant isn't quite ready for the flush. Added a 45w supplementary LED to try and thicken the colas a bit, since the weather's been cooler my grow box can take the additional heat. Had some foxtails growing from the tips of the tallest colas which might be the heat problems over the weeks (the roof space can get ridiculously hot and my ventilation can't cope). Buds starting to feel a bit denser, and the calyxes are fattening up nicely. I'll start flushing any day now... My feed is about 30% weaker than normal, but with half teaspoon molasses to add a touch sweetness as this pheno is quite a musky smell.

Final few days before the chop. I had a few bits of buld mould from the top cola (which is bent 90 degrees), but I caught it quick so I lost less than a gram. Plants looking great, the yellowing leaves indicate its almost fully ripe. Only concern is the top of the upper buds are no longer sticky, it's as if the trichomes have dried out and I wonder how that will effect the high given the thc continues to develop right until harvest. We shall see. Any day now.
