I had to adjust my lights' locations, and added a JUEYINGBAILI Full Spectrum Light to try and hit all blind spots and corners, and get more to the smaller plants. I rotated the plant positions as well. The plants really took off this past week and growth was abundant.
The past 2 weeks have shown explosive growth. I topped the plants this past week and am planning on inducing flowering next week. Fortunately no males (fingers crossed).
I've been flushing the past few days before inducing flowering, which I'll be doing this week. The plants have been filling out very nicely the past 2 weeks. No males (knock on wood).
This was a busy week. This is my first grow and germinated primarily Blue Dream (Sativa) and a couple of Pink Kush (Indica). I thought I'd gone overboard getting the tent, but really was getting tired of taping tin foil to cardboard boxes. Last week the plants had grown fast. This week, the Sativas was getting to light-level. I had raised the week before, but couldn't grow higher. I had to pull 4 BD plants and build a makeshift grow room. I remember reading at 2 or 3 weeks, there came a time when it's necessary to cull. This was hard and I got rid of the grunt but left 10 plants. Note to self: next time go fewer plants, and watch the high-growing sativas. I used to water them once a week when small, but it's twice a day now. Don't get me wrong, they are healthy and still growing fast for which I am ecstatic, just more work than I realized, tbo.
Flowering stage for a week now. The tall growing Blue Dream is eating up the soil. Topped it off with fresh soil. Down to 12 hours uninterrupted light and dark. Switched to Botanicare Pro Bloom. We'll see ho this week goes. Oh yeah, the smell is really picking up. Smells incredible!
Another big week of growth, and finally some flowers! The tallest plants are now over 4 feet. My grow tent is 5 feet tall and with a light, I only have 4 feet to work with. My improvised grow room (closet) now houses all the 3 foot+ plants.
The pictures don't do the plants justice this week. I had to stake a couple of plants, so figured I'd just stake them all. I did a final, minimal defoliation and (hopefully) my last readjustment of the pots. Next week's pics should be better, as the plants adjust to their new room. Time to leave them alone this week.
The plants were growing like crazy this week. I have 2 plants over 5 feet. Pics were taken at eye level. Lots of flowers everywhere and still sucking down the nutrients. I'm leaving them alone, except to water each day. Plants seem very healthy. Going out of town this week and will be using watering globes and rope drip. They should be fine, as the seem to be focusing on developing flowers.
I was out of town for the week, and used watering globes and the rope-drip method to keep plants watered. Seemed to work well. The morning I left, one plant had tipped over and domino'd 3 other plants next to it. These plants are very top-heavy and (tallest grew to 6' 2" this week) and I've had to stake and use string to keep all upright. I had read about Blue Dream getting freaky-tall, and have found that this is no joke.
Lots of flowers and buds forming. Another few weeks and it'll be harvest time.
Another good, but difficult week. Afternoon thunderstorms knocked out power several times, which messed up my light timers. Woke up early twice to find lights on during dark hours. Got rid of timers and will manually do the lights for the remainder of grow.
6 plants 5+ feet, and 4 at 4+ feet tall. One monster over 6 feet. Buds are forming nicely, despite issues with timers. Hopefully plants weren't too stressed this week. I chose Blue Dream because it's supposed to be more forgiving of mistakes. I'm starting to see amber in the buds and have started a flush today with the 6 taller plants.
One thing to note, my 6-footer actually went over 6 1/2 feet and was basically at light height. This may be sacrilegious, but I topped it and took the top 6 inches off. Lights can't go any higher, and I had never expected plants to get this high. This should be an interesting week coming up.
Overall, everything has gone beyond my wildest dreams with these plants. Harvest soon!!!!
8/8/2020 - Another week of buds fattening. The pictures don't do it justice, as the big fan leaves make it difficult to appreciate the size of these flowers/buds. I did a quick flush this week and have resumed with the nitrogen fertilizer.
From reading and following other journals, I'm guessing the sativas (Blue Dream) should be ready for harvest by the end of the month, My grow tent has the indicas (Pink Kush) and these are progressing/growing slower. Buds are forming and getting bigger each week, but still a week or 2 behind the sativas.
Thanks for reading/following!!
Nothing new to report this week other than the buds continue to fatten up. I did a quick, minor flush and am back on the nutes. I also did some Low Stress Training and bent the taller plants slightly to allow more light on the lower buds, which are forming everywhere. The sativas continue to outpace to indicas, and it's looking like they may come down a week or two longer before harvest.
Enjoy the pics and all comments are welcome. Trying to determine the best harvest time can get confusing.
I'll check back in next week.
Another week of growth. They're still sucking the nutrients. I've been checking the trichomes and most are still clear, while a couple have started going cloudy. Since it's indicas and sativas, the harvest dates will be different. The indicas are slightly behind.
Will begin a flush later this week on the sativas with a harvest date in 10-14 days. The indicas should be a week or two behind this. Otherwise all good. Just anxious for the final product.
Nine weeks into flowering and the Blue Dream (Sativa) has cloudy trichomes, with some starting to turn amber. I started a flush a few days back and will be harvesting the sativa in another 5 days or so. I'm going to let the Pink Kush (indica) in the grow tent flower for another 7-10 days before starting flush, as these finish ripening.
Lots of work finally going to pay off. These ladies and I had our ups and downs, but they pulled through nicely. Will update harvest results next!!!
