First time growing weed and first time growing anything from seed. I find myself constantly reading more and more. Learning in stages. Starting to read up on nutrition and have an Amazon List specific for stuff to grow with.
I've got a bag of FFOF and a few 5g fabric pots on hand, waiting to transplant and then will decide on nutes. I have the Fox Fax three pack on that list- everyone seems to have ideas about beat and all, but I keep seeing FF pop up from experienced and intermediate growers. So I figure it can't be a wrong route.
There's a grow shop not far from me in IL and imma check them out this weekend. Thinking I'll grab a bag of Happy Frog and talk about nutes then. This site seems SUPER cool and EXACTLY what I was looking for-- a reddit style blog with one focus!
Super excited to see where this goes
Started to overthink about the one plant having droopy leaves so all the reading went that direction. I have been waiting until the Jiffy pots feel light and dry and then spray around the outside in hopes of training the roots to spread.
Found a farm store about 30 min away that had Happy Frog and some nutes, so I scooped all that up in prep for planting in the 5g fabric pots o have.
Been thinking 5g is too big for this lil indoor grow, so I may exchange for 3, or just cut these down a bit.
Hoping to transplant maybe this weekend or next totally depending on how growing goes.
Note to self, compare seedlings at this stage to others not germed in peat pots. Curious of there would be a diff between peat pots and soil at this stage regarding growth.
Looks like one of the two is not doing too well.
I'm thinking it may have been root bound from the jiffy pellet and sitting in there for like 2 weeks.
Upgraded from jiffys to a 1g pot with a mix of FFOF and Happy Frog with a few scoops of perlite. Monitoring the little one to see a hopeful rebound, but my guess is nah.
Gonna lay the big one next week.
Started LST this week! The second plant that looked to be doing poor rebounded once I reported the girls into 1 gals. Thinking next week I will up the 1 to my final 5 gallon cloth pots for the remainder of the grow.
Transplanted last week and have a thorough watering. Haven't watered since. An inch into the substrate it's still moist, so letting it run a bit. There are what appears to be the pistils, so I'm stoked that we are into preflowering. Next thing is to start focusing on bushiness/growth and nutes. I've only done 2 feedings so far... And now I realized Grow Big isn't organic so I'm deciding if I want to switch to an organic nute. Otherwise, in the tent I can see shades of purple on the leaves, I'm hoping for some cool color variation with the plants!
Well we'll, this week I've been watching and monitoring the development and the plants are starting to get hairy, taller, and requires more lst than last week.
Note to future grows, when placing in final pot, don't stick the root ball dead center. It's easier to lst when there's room to pull everything.
Otherwise, I'm getting the hang of the water levels, temp, and loving the smell.
Want to read into using molasses to help get them the stickiest they can be!
Been seeing the flowers start to bgrow a bunch over the past week. We've had some cool daysz so I've had the windows open and we have been around 78 in the tent which is fantastic. Just turned the A/C on so going to monitor the change with the flowers.
Next week- go to Tiger Bloom so that would be 2 cycles of plain water then nite water. Interested in reading more about teas.
Also, need to start reading about when to tell it's ready for harvest and get some jars to age these up a bit.
A little late on this!!
So I switched to Tiger Bloom and I did some heave LST work and one of those things stressed them out bbbaaddllyy. A bunch of the lower leaves were yellow and dieing off. I cut em and they seem to be feeling better, except we've had some weather changes.
We went from around 90 outside (80ish) in the tent to having the AC on. With the AC on, day temps were around 77 and night got around 68. 10 doesn't seem too bad, but that's the lowest they'd gone yet.
Since I'm a week behind. I have more but will post tmro in the corresponding timeframe!
Super appreciate this thread.
Camera on the phone is fucked and I missed a week, please forgive the not great pics.
Getting some sense nugs growing and starting to see some good trichome structure. Waiting for them to start to turn whiter, I think we are maybe two weeks out? Going to be doing some harvest research here now and hopefully get a good batch!
This past week I adjusted to putting in some Tiger Bloom and I think my "give it a whirl" technique is not good. I'm using a small watering can and have been eyeballing the nutes. Obvi not the time to start doing that 😬😬😬.
Had to do a bit of leaf trimming but I think we gonna be ok.
The grey pot is smaller and looks like the white hairs are starting to turn orange/brown.
The black pot has got a ton of brown hairs and I'm thinking we may be close to cutting and hanging. I was REEEALLLLYYY hoping the plants would be ready for harvest at the same time, but that looks to be unlikely.
Anyways. Maybe cut soon, whatchya thoughts?
Late again. But we are here. One plant is being harvested, one is sitting as the hairs are still white.
Will update harvest picks for larger plant shortly.
Flushed with some Florakleen to get rid of the excess bloom nutes, and then straight water for a few runs.
Interested as I was expecting these to be frosty as hell. But they pretty and smell nice.
So two plants, one was struggling a bit around week 3 or 4, so that one is still cooking. Since this is my first grow, I've split the plants.
Smaller one is still growing for another week or so. The trichs are getting real frosty, and I'm excited for how dense the nuggys feel.
The larger plant was wet trim harvested last week and hung in a dark closet with a small fan on low, blowing at the wall. It dried from mon-thurs. and then I was able to snap the larger stalk. I put the entire limb with nuggies in and started the cure in a jar. Been burping and letting it ride. Humidity is around 62 and temp is sitting at 73.
I searched all over the internet cause I was getting that grassy smell, and not so much of the sweet weed smell the plant was giving off when still alive. Some ppl say the smell is normal, some say it's not. No mold or anything. So I'm just kinda going with the flow.
This other plant, imma cut whole and hang upside down and let it slower dry, then dry trim.
I may have harvested one plant too early as it had that hay smell that wouldn't quite. The second plant smells super flowery.
For the first plant I wet trimmed and hung in a closet for 6-7 days with a fan on, then started cure.
Second plant I let dry out in the soil for 3 days, then chopped the entire plant and hung it upside down in the tent. I dry trimmed that one and started cure. Overall, both are delicious but something went funky with the first plant.
hello what are those bags you are using? are you able to just plant them into your 5 gallon pot by setting those inside and covering with medium? the roots can poke through
@dojavu, the black pots are some cheapo smart pots off Amazon. Came in a 5 pack for like $18. I sprouted in jiffy pellets and transfered a bit late (they got a bit root bound). You could show right in of you wanted!
