June 24, 2020 - I started germination of two seeds today using the paper towel method, but only one has germinated so far. After germinating in the paper towel I’ll transfer them to a seed starter until the cotyledons appear.
June 25, 2020 - So far only one seed has germinated, but it seems to be doing well. The tap root is just under 1/4” and should be ready for planting tomorrow.
June 26, 2020 - The rap root on the germinated seed is just under 1/2” and ready to be planted in the seed starter. The other seed hasn’t germinated yet, but I am going to plant it anyway. Worst case I’ll grow one plant only.
June 27, 2020 - The cotyledons have broken through the soil and are starting to turn up towards the light.
June 28, 2020 - The first true leaves have appeared, and the seedling has been transferred to a 3 gallon felt pot.
July 2, 2020 - I decided to move the entire tent from the garage it was in into a more suitable space indoors. This seems to have helped a lot with climate regulation, it’s holding steady around 28C/50RH.
Right now the seedling is 1.5” tall and the first leaves are 1.5” apart tip to tip.
July 5, 2020 - So far so good. The first leaves are looking healthy as ever with the second set on their way to being fully developed.
I added a few more plants and herbs, along with a makeshift exhaust fan using some flexible ducting and a small clip-on fan. This helped bring the climate to 27C/55RH.
The seedling is now 1.75” tall and the first leaves are just under 2.5” tip to tip.
July 9, 2020 - The 3 bladed leaves are 4.5” tip to tip, and the 5 bladed leaves are well on their way.
July 10, 2020 - I decided to try out ScrOg following the guide from LBH. So far I have pruned the 5 bladed leaves and installed the screen. Once the new stems are long enough I will begin LST.
The screen I used is just some string being held in tension.
July 13, 2020 - I lowered the light to 18” to increase the light levels, and that brought the temp to around 27C. The topped stems have just started to appear too.
July 15, 2020 - I’ve been having problems with the leaves drooping and cupping slightly, so I’ve cut back on watering and lowered the temperature to 26C. I also removed the screen for now and will be making a better one in the coming weeks.
There has been lots of lateral growth in the form of new branches, but the two stems at the top aren’t growing as fast as I expected.
July 16, 2020 - I have decreased the amount of water I’m giving the plant but increased the frequency of watering. I have also started using Floragro and Flora micro.
I have tied down the two secondary branches to help widen the plant a bit.
July 18, 2020 I have pruned the two large leaves to help the branches underneath get full light coverage, and have tied them down.
I have also installed the new screen 6” from the top of the soil.
July 19, 2020 - I tied down the larger of the two main stems to give the smaller one a bit more room to grow before I tie it down in the next few days.
July 22, 2020 - I tied down the other main stem yesterday and started using Florabloom in addition to the other nutrients.
July 24, 2020 - I noticed a bit of burn starting on the tips of some leaves, so I switched from nutrients everyday to nutrients every fourth day with plain water in between.
July 25, 2020 - I tied down the stems again to help keep the plant low and bushy. I will be letting them grow vertically over the next week, and hopefully start using the screen soon.
July 26, 2020 - I pruned the starting leaves as they had started dying off.
July 29, 2020 - I pruned the fan leaves on the bottom node of each stem to allow for more light to reach the branches and less competition between them.
Aug 2, 2020 - I pruned the next set of fan leaves again and removed the tie downs on the shortest stems.
Aug 4, 2020 - Nutrients every fourth day seems to be working quite well. I am hoping to install the smaller screen by next week to help spread the stems out even more.
Aug 5, 2020 - I have finally installed the smaller screen and started to spread out the branches. I pruned the stems again to remove the third set of fan leaves from each one, the canopy should fill up again over the next couple days. The tie downs on all branches have been removed too.
I think I’ll be starting flowering in about 2 weeks (Aug 19), so looking forward to that!
Aug 8, 2020 - The scrogging has been going well and allowing the smaller branches to grow quite a lot. I have also switched to an 18/6 light schedule.
Aug 10, 2020 - Everything is going well so far. I still can’t find any preflowers, but I’m hoping they show up in the next week or so. I’ve also started using 2mL/L of each nutrient to start the transition to bloom.
The size of the bush is about 16” x 12” right now. Once it reaches the edge of the screen (18”) I’ll be letting it grow vertically to produce some large colas.
Aug 12, 2020 - Branches have finally reached all edges and should fill out the corners over the next week. I have also switched to 2mL/L each of floragro, floramicro, and florabloom every fifth day.
Aug 14, 2020 - I did some more pruning to give the smaller branches a bit more light. The corners of the screen should fill out by the end of the week.
Aug 17, 2020 - She has almost completely filled out the screen and I’ve begun to find pre-flowers, so she seems to be on track to starting 12/12 next week. I also started using 2mL/L of carboload.
Aug 19, 2020 - It’s finally time to start flowering! I removed the screen to prune some of the lower leaves and branches. The pre-flowers have been growing steadily since I found them, but I can’t seem to find any new ones.
Aug 20, 2020 - I have switched to the blooming mix for nutrients and pruned off a couple dying leaves from underneath the canopy, as well as the largest top fan leaves from the largest stems.
Aug 22, 2020 - I picked up a propagation tent and light to propagate some clones. I used rootech cloning gel and some rock wool cubes, so hopefully at least a couple of the 5 clones end up taking root. I am hoping to create a mother plant from these clones and grow out the rest.
Aug 24, 2020 - I’ve been finding pistils on almost every top, and some of the lower nodes as well. I’m very excited for the next couple weeks as she seems to be starting to stretch.
The clones I took seem to be doing well too, except for the middle one that fell over and begun growing sideways. I had to shorten the stem to get it to grow upright, so it’s about half as tall as the others.
Aug 26, 2020 - I have been finding a lot of new pistils everyday, and have noticed a lot of vertical growth. I pruned off the lower 1/4 of leaves and branches because a lot of them were either very small, or starting to wilt. I gave her some water and nutrients after the pruning.
Aug 29, 2020 - No major changes aside from lots of pistil growth at the tops of all the stems. She is still stretching quite steadily.
Aug 31, 2020 - She seems to be responding well to the feeding schedule and has started producing small buds at most nodes.
Sep 4, 2020 - She seems to have fully switched from stretching to growing buds now. Lots of new pistils and the buds are getting noticeably larger everyday.
Sept 6, 2020 - The humidity has increased to 60% during the day, so I have ordered a small dehumidifier to help lower it. It should arrive sometime this week.
Sept 9, 2020 - The buds have been getting larger and there are trichromes appearing on the sugar leaves and calyces. I have been watering every second day and feeding every fourth day with good results and no burn. After turning the furnace on in the building where the tent is, the humidity level in the tent stabilized around 45-55% so I won’t be using the dehumidifier on this grow.
Sept 13, 2020 - The sugar leaves on some of the top colas have been starting to turn purple, which I wasn’t expecting with this strain. The pistils on the top colas have also started to turn orange in colour, so I am hoping to harvest around Oct 21.
Sept 16, 2020 - There hasn’t been any major changes aside from steady growth at all the bud sites.
Sept 19, 2020 - I will keep feeding her every fourth day until Sept 30 or Oct 8 depending on how she is doing. I have been thinking of pushing harvest up to Oct 14, but it all depends on the next couple weeks so I’ll wait and see.
Sept 30, 2020 - Some of the branches had begun to fall over from the weight of the buds, so I had to tie them to the frame of the grow tent for support.
Oct 2, 2020 - I cleared some wilting leaves from the lower canopy, and I trimmed off the smallest bud sites.
